With both Alexander and Derek working together they quickly managed to move the sleeping Laura downstairs. Fortunately Derek had the foresight to have parked his car right outside their house. After carefully placing Laura in the backseat, and with Alexander riding shotgun. The newly formed Werewolf trio was soon on their way downtown. Of course since everything thus far was had gone perfectly, something was bound to happen. In this case coming in the form of a phone call which Alexander reluctantly answered after seeing the caller ID.
" Hey, Danny what's up?"
He asked in a seemingly hungover voice he'd spontaneously thought up on the spot. Garnering him a sideways glance from Derek, knowing that werewolves didn't get hangovers.
"(Dude, you really surprised me. I honestly didn't think you'd make it home last night...)"
Hearing Danny's response, Alexander awkwardly smiled as his friend was totally right.
" You didn't just call to check up on me right? Because if you'd let me I'd really like to get back to sleep."
Since Alexander had picked up, the driving Derek's expression became stuck on annoyance. Normally Alexander wouldn't have cared, continuing with his conversation. However seeing as the situation they were in was rather sensitive he was inclined to end it.
"( Woah, here I was thinking I'd be a good friend and tell you about the after school scrimmage against JV today.. But if you'd rather go to sleep, I'll leave you to it then.)"
The mentioning of the scrimmage did pique Alexander's interest. To the point that he moved his phone closer to his ear to listen in better. This time garnering an eye roll from Derek who tightly gripped the steering wheel.
" Why the sudden scrimmage out of a sudden?"
Alexander asked, completely dropping his hungover act all together.
"( Supposedly it's to see if anyone from the JV squad has improved enough to move up to Varsity.)"
Thinking about what Danny had just told him, Alexander came to a sudden realization.
" That's such an obvious lie. What Coach actually wants is for us to crush them, in order to boost our confidence heading into the tournament. I mean, you've seen the guys in JV, do you honestly think any of them are good enough to make it in Varsity?"
Danny paused not answering right away but ultimately did so.
"( Yeah, you're probably right. It's just kinda annoying that you always figure these things out right away. That's also why I think you should try out for Captain again. Aren't you tired of being the Vice Captain? You always get stuck doing all the boring work while Jackso-)"
Alexander didn't allow Danny to finish that thought as he immediately cut him off.
" Going back to the scrimmage, since it's just a moral booster, it's not a big deal if I don't play. And since I'm not really feeling too good today, do you think you could help me out talking with coach?"
Having been interrupted bothered Danny, but quickly forgave his friend and agreed to help him.
"( Yeah, yeah I'll talk to him. But you'll owe me, big time, you hear me?)"
Reaching an agreement, Alexander thanked him before ending the call.
" I got it. And thanks. I'll see you tomorrow."
Possessing enhanced hearing, Derek had unwilling listened in on Alexander's entire conversation. Interestingly enough and contrary to his personality he actually had something to say on the matter.
" You do know you can't play ever again right? You're not Human anymore, and in contact sports it's rather easy to let your emotions flare up. Which in your case can end with someone getting seriously hurt or worse..."
Alexander seemed to not have heard Derek as he stared out the car window. Only to then utter two words in a rather low and regretful tone a couple of seconds later.
" I know."
Having said what he needed to say, Derek concentrated on the road once again. Leaving Alexander alone with his thoughts.
' Is this really the end? Will I never get to play Lacrosse again? Never get to hold my stick again? Walk out onto the field with my teammates? I mean sure Marc was a fucking idiot, but one of the best defenders in the state. Danny's one of the most intelligent goalkeepers I've ever played against or with. Even Jackson who's a total fucking asshole is actually a great scorer. The four of us were supposed to lead the team to our second consecutive title this year...'
Allowing his emotions to rise, Alexander's eyes began glowing in a pale golden hue. Pulling Derek's attention towards Alexander and away from the road.
" Hey, calm down. This isn't the time for- Shit!"
Turning around to see why Derek had shouted, Alexander also ended up cussing afterwards.
" Fuck!"
In that split second, a grey-blue car was making a turn at an intersection. All the while the distracted Derek failed to initially put on the brakes. Resulting in both vehicles making slight contact albeit not enough to cause any real harm to the cars or passengers.
As both cars came to an impromptu stop, Derek instinctively checked on Laura. Seeing that she was fine he let out a sigh of relief before furiously reproaching Alexander.
" You fucking idiot! You're lucky nothing happened to her, had there I'd of fucking skinned you!"
Hearing such a specific threat did scare Alexander a good bit, although not enough it seemed as he ignored Derek and ran out of the car. Being blatantly ignored left Derek seriously pissed off, though he reined himself seeing what Alexander was doing. As Alexander ran to the greyish car they'd just collided with while yelling at the driver.
" Hey are you okay!?"
After not receiving any response back, Alexander approached the driver's window.
" Are you alright in there!? Can you hear me!?"
Taking a quick peek inside, Alexander made out the silhouette of a young woman. The smell of iron entered his nose, which somehow sent him into panic.
' I should be able to force open the door with my strength.'
Tightly gripping the car's door handle, Alexander was ready to open it. However just as he was about to pull, a soft moan resounded within the car. Followed by the young woman looking around while grabbing onto her head.
" Aw, w-what happened?"
Seeing as she was still in the process of walking up, Alexander turned around towards Derek and signaled him to leave. Derek didn't appear to understand, so Alexander frantically made several hand gestures telling him to leave. After which he finally did and quickly drive off although not before throwing a cellphone at Alexander. Who caught it without any problem and hastily threw it into his jacket pocket.
" W-who are you? Where am I? What happened?"
A sweet voice asked, startling Alexander who tried to act shocked and surprised by her situation.
" Woah, there try not to move around too much alright? That car hit you pretty hard, are you okay? I didn't get a good look at the license plates, but seriously what type of person drives off after something like this?"
Thankfully, just having experienced a car accident the young woman didn't question Alexander's story. Of course it might be due to the concussion she just received clouding her judgement.
" I-I'm fine, thank you. Ugh, my head's killing me..."
Taking a closer look at her, Alexander was definitely surprised by her fantasy like appearance. Being outside did skew his vision somewhat but even then he could tell that she was extremely pretty. She had pale snow white skin albeit lightly freckled, curly dark brown hair reaching past her shoulders, and a set of deep brown eyes. Caught off guard by her good looks, Alexander almost didn't notice the stream of blood running down her forehead.
" Oh, I'm you're bleeding you should probably lie your head back."
Sadly his good intentions were said rather thoughtlessly since she panicked and tried to check herself. Which acted as a stimulant of sorts as she soon started bleeding way more.
" Oh my God! Why am bleeding so much!?"
Trying to calm things down, specifically the frantic young woman Alexander began to talk to her.
" Hey, it's fine alright it's just a scratch it'll most likely close on its own. You won't even need stitches, so let's not-"
As they say accommodating people always end up being the bad guy. Whether because of the sight of her own blood or the shock of the hit she was in no mood to talk.
" How would you know!?"
At this point, Alexander was regretting getting our of the car to help her. That said, he ultimately sucked it up as it was somewhat his fault in the first place.
" I've played contact sports all my life alright? And in all those years I've seen and had countless of injuries so trust me I know what I'm talking about. All you need is some rubbing alcohol to clean the cut and a band-aid to cover it, that's it."
With Alexander taking such a strong and confidant stance, the young woman was left speechless. Seeing her settle down and stop panicking, he took it another step forward.
" If you'd like, I'll call you an ambulance although they'd tell you the same thing I just did. I mean, your car's fine as well. Disregarding the few scratches here and there that is.
The young woman blankly stared at Alexander for a few seconds before speaking.
" There's an emergency kit in the glovebox, could you help me? Cleaning up the wound I mean. I'm still pretty shaken up from all of this."
Now that she wasn't as intense as before and had asked for his help, Alexander wasn't left with much of a choice.
" Yeah, sure. I'm Alexander by the way. Sorry for the late introduction."
Wearing a much calmer expression, she also introduced herself.
" I'm Allison. Likewise, sorry for acting the way I did earlier. You weren't the one who crashed into me. I shouldn't have taken out my frustration out on you."
However as she added the rest, Alexander couldn't help but look away in shame.
' Yeah, I'm really sorry about that too.'
