The Doubt

Bella's POV

"I truly do not comprehend your sudden Slurpee craving."

Kaycee and I walk through the village and back home. I thought about going out because I wasn't sleepy yet. The house is close to the village gate, so we walked.

"I'm just wondering if Evo is safe in his house," I said. That's one of the reasons I can't sleep. I contemplated whether the man caused my parents' deaths. Yumi always mentions the man in black.

"Is it about Yumi?" Kaycee asked. "It's been almost a week since you agreed to entrust Yumi to Evo's friend. Have you talked to her lately?"

Kaycee is aware that I frequently contact Yumi via video call. Evo's friend says that will help with her therapy. Whenever we have a conversation, she consistently brings up the subject of the man who killed my parents.

When we turned the corner, a car appeared that surprised both of us. Kaycee immediately grabbed me and pushed me to the other side. Kaycee and I fell to the floor.
