CHAPTER 19 : SURPRISING ENCOUNTER

A white ray of heat left my hand with a blinking speed, carving a fist-sized bloody hole in the head of a lizard-like beast as it fell to the ground with a booming sound, forming fine cracks on it.

Walking in front of it, I brought down my air mana-imbued blade towards the beast's torso. Slicing through its hard skin, I pulled out its mana core from within.

It has been several months since I arrived in beasts glades. During this time, I've been to many different dungeons, fighting different kinds of mana beasts, and honing my abilities and skills in the process.

Although I purified dozens of S-class cores, my mana core hasn't improved much from before, however, my combat prowess has gained a great boost as a whole.

During these months, I also accepted many missions and cleared many dungeons under the adventurers guild, to avoid their suspicion.

As I was admiring the mana core in my hands, Suddenly my eyes widened in surprise as my mental energy sensed a kind of mana I was familiar with.

"Space mana," I murmured.

Quickly spreading my mental energy into the whole cave, I tried to trace it back to the source.

After half a minute, I found out it was coming from the far end of the cave or more precisely from the wall over there.

I narrowed my eyes in its direction but instead of going forward, I turned around, exiting the cave and the dungeon by a path resembling a tunnel.

Night.

UNKNOWN PERSON'S POV :

Coming out of the secret chamber, I was shocked by the site in front of me. A massive ice lizard that we were tasked to corrupt lay dead, with a fist-sized hole in its head.

"What in the vritra's name happened here? Although the so-called lance should be able to kill an S-class mana beast but they should not be here, this deep into the beast glades so early in the war," I yelled as cold sweat ran down my spine.

Turning around, I decided to go back and report this to my superior.

However, just as I was about to move, my field of vision changed as I found that I had fallen to the ground.

Panicked, I tried to get up but could not feel my limbs anymore. Before I could realize what happened, darkness embraced me.

ALEX POV :

I smirked, looking at the headless corpse, lying in front of me.

Although I had plans to go to alacrya at some point but never have I imagined that I would find one of their bases in the beast Glades. I mean how could my luck be so good?

It's not that they did not hide well, but they could never have imagined in their wildest dreams that a lesser could use space mana.

My vision went to the passage the alacryan has come from. It looked like a hole created in the wall using earth magic.

Mana surrounded my body as I used a spell I have created recently. It took me a minute to cast. After which I conjured a wall of water to see the results of my spell.

Looking at my appearance, I smiled in satisfaction. I looked exactly like the alacryan from head to toe. Jet black hair, small black eyes and an average looking face, around 20 years of age. Even the mana signature was the same.

This was a camouflage spell that utilizes earth magic to form a layer of earth on the body to change its outer appearance. Then I utilized my highly adaptable mental energy to change my mana signature.

Although I'm not sure if an asura can see through it or not. it should not be a problem to hide from a scythe or a retainer.

Walking up to the alacryan's corpse, I pulled out a dimensional ring from its finger. Easily breaking its security measure through space mana, I looked at what was inside.

A rectangular card which I guessed to be an identity card. some alacrity rune cards(currency used in alacrya), some food, clothes and weapons.

Nodding in satisfaction, I raised my hand as white flames came out of it, engulfing the corpse whole, and turning it into ashes.

Turning around, I entered the secret passage, without any hesitation.
