CHAPTER 18 : THE GOLEM KING

For the whole next month, we did exactly what my father said.

We cleared a total of seven dungeons, during which we encountered all sorts of mana beasts and my dad taught me the most effective ways to kill each of them.

After that, I bid farewell to my father and began doing my own thing.

I've recently broken through to silver core but haven't yet fully familiarised myself with it, and what better way to do it than in combat?

I have also never missed my mental and physical enhancement training, nor do I intend to do so in the future. Those are my advantages Although I know right now I couldn't be compared to an asura in both departments due to their impractical age, but I will be able to catch up with them through enough training and time. All I needed was a major breakthrough in both of them.

I also needed to practice and experiment with my newly discovered teleportation technique.

"Huh." I heaved a sigh. There was a lot of work to be done.

Then my attention shifted to my surroundings, I was in a cave nearly 1000 square meters wide. The Ground beneath me could be seen to be cracked, with lava coming out of it.

It is an S-class unexplored dungeon,  for which the Adventurers guild generally forms a team of high-ranking adventurers to explore. But here I was sneaking into it by myself, without anyone's permission. I thought as I dodged to the side.

With a booming sound, a crater formed where I stood just now.

Tilting my head, I saw an earthen golem of the size of nearly 3 metres.

It was an AA-class mana beast, which had inhabited this dungeon.

Taking advantage of the opening my movement had just created, spinning my body, I raised my sword which seemed to be vibrating a little towards the golem.

Swinging it down, My sword collided with its right shoulder.

waves of sound from my sword entered its body, destroying it from the inside, completely ignoring its body defences.

It shattered into thousands of pieces as if a bomb exploded inside its body.

Pieces of rocks splattered everywhere, as a first-sized mana core dropped on the floor.

Without any thought, I pocketed the mana core into my space ring. Now as a silver core mage, I needed a lot of mana to advance to the next stage, and if I rely only on atmospheric mana to purify my core, it would take a lot of time. Which I lacked dearly right now.

I am on the 3rd floor of this dungeon, up until now I have only encountered fifteen earth golems, earning myself a total of fifteen AA class mana cores.

Without wasting any time, I proceeded to the next floor.

Reaching the end of the cave, I found myself in front of a metal door.

Opening it, my eyes widened in surprise at the site I saw on the other side.

There were nearly fifty earth golems arranged in what seemed like a combat formation at the other end of the door, but they were not the source of my astonishment.

Further into the room, there was a golem reaching a height of almost 8 metres. Its body was made of metal instead of earth, covered in vein-like structures, which were flowing with lava instead of blood.

'Lava golem.' I searched my mind for Information as I recalled the identity of the mana beast. It was an extremely powerful S-class beast, also known as the king of golems.

As for if it's an exaggeration or not, well we will find out soon.

Gripping the hilt of my swords, I shot myself at them with astonishing speed.

Instantly arriving in front of a golem, I swung my vibrating sword down at its head, shattering it into pieces before it even had a chance to react.

When the realisation hit the other golems, they also started to attack me from every direction.

Using thunderclap impulse to heighten my senses, I parried most of the attacks and blocked the ones which I couldn't in the most efficient way possible.

I jumped from golem to golem, killing them one after another. On every swing of my sword, a mana core would drop on the floor.

Not using any other type of magic, I only used sound magic to augment my sword and gravity magic for utility.

After about 10 minutes, the last golem shattered into pieces.

Looking at all the scattered mana cores on the ground, a satisfied smile formed on my face as I pocketed them all in my space ring.

Suddenly sensing a danger from my rear I formed an armour of ice around my body and sidestepped.

A ball of lava of nearly 1 metre in diameter landed on the spot I had just been standing on.

The Lava golem has finally made its move, turning my head to the large golem, a meticulous smile formed on my face.

Confusing it with mocking, the golem roared angrily, signifying a level of intelligence the other golems didn't have.

Mana moved from my core, As hundreds of spears of ice formed around me. Launching them at the golem, I formed a wall of ice in front of me to block the beam of lava coming in my direction. Blocking it completely.

Spears of ice collided with the golem, forming a layer of ice on its body on contact.

As if feeling Annoyed by the coldness on its body, it released scorching lava from its veins, directly melting the ice.

My eyes raised in curiosity as I wondered if the beast had mental power which was directly converting the mana from its core into lava.

I have long since unlocked lava deviant but I couldn't form lava directly from my mana, as I have to utilise both earth and fire magic in unison to form it.

A ball of lava brought me out of my train of thought, As I numbly dodged to the side.

Hundreds of blades of pure mana formed around me as I launched them at the golem with breathtaking speed.

On coming in contact, mana blades suddenly turned into their gaseous form which entered right into the golem's body through its veins.

As I felt mana spreading throughout the golem's body, through my connection to it with my mental energy I turned it into ice.

Sensing something wrong within its body, the lava golem roared frantically, trying to produce as much lava as it could but it was too late, as, after about 10 seconds, the icy mist started to come out of its veins which were filled with lava before.

After nearly a minute its corpse dropped to the ground.

Looking at it without any expression on my face, I walked towards it.
