Spirits

|Lancelot|

After we had been training for four months under Director Goodsky's tutelage, we were called back home for an important event.

Spirit Coronation.

There were four spirits in the world. The spirit of water, Undine; the spirit of fire, Salamander; the spirit of the wind, Sylph; and the spirit of the earth, Gnome.

The Kingdom of Sapin had four noble families with the bloodlines of the first contractors of these spirits.

They were all powerful families, however, two of them were destroyed long ago. For the two remaining families, only the branch family remained alive while the main family also died.

The branch of the Rutland family, whose progenitor was the contractor of Sylph, was now the Orbel family.

The branch of the Golddall family, whose progenitor was likewise the contractor of Undine, was the Glidesburn family.

The last spirit contract that came from these families was from a hundred years ago, just a few decades after the main families were destroyed.

Simply carrying the blood of the spirit contractor didn't guarantee much. Nicole Fejalk, the current contractor of Salamander, is someone who isn't from the Summerster family that was wiped out long ago.

He isn't even related to that family, which shows how flawed this concept was.

The spirits in this world were very different from the spirit in my old world. The selection criteria were very mysterious, as there was seemingly no required age or core stage.

However, although these two branch families remained, they weren't considered much in the eyes of the king as the descendants weren't able to contract with the spirits.

The Spirit Coronation was still carried out as a tradition, and it was held when the heir to the family reached the silver stage.

'Is the Sylph of this world the same from my past world?' I wondered. There was little chance of that happening, but so was the chance of me reincarnating in another world.

All I could do was hope that my greatest comrade from my previous life was here to support me again.

There was a reason I was excited about this. Even though it was unlikely, I wanted to get Slyph, even if it was not Bell.

The abilities of a spirit contractor are amazing. Spirit Dive, which even at just half-stage can be compared to the integration stage of an SS-class beast will.

It would allow me to bridge the gap that formed between the other geniuses and me.

I was too arrogant, and I didn't realise how quickly the others developed.

I had to catch up, I couldn't stay behind and keep on losing to them as I did repeatedly against Alistair.

My thoughts were disrupted when I felt Rachel's hand on mine. I turned to her as she explained, "We reached already, Lancelot."

I nodded my head and got out with Rachel just behind me. The maids and servants of the Orbel family greeted us before escorting us into a room.

Stepping inside, I found my father and Count Glidesburn already present. Both of them stopped talking and smiles appeared on their face as they turned towards us.

Rachel quickly rushed over and hugged the Count, who was taken aback at her action, before he wrapped his hands around her.

"How was your trip in Xyrus City?" my father asked me after we settled on the couch.

I paused, thinking for a moment, before replying, "An eye-opener."

His brows furrowed and his eyes widened before returning to normal. We began talking about what happened in our lives during the time we didn't see each other.

Finally, my father got up from his seat and said, "Let's go to the Spirit Room. We will get the ceremony underway."

Rachel and I tensely nodded, feeling nervous about the prospect of the ceremony.

"Don't worry too much, even if the spirits don't recognise you. There is no need to feel burdened." the Count said as he turned towards Rachel.

She gave him a slight nod and I felt her facial muscles relax just a little.

The two men led us to a room I didn't even know existed. It was a couple of levels before the ground floor, deep underground.

We were followed by various knights and mages of the family, as well as the head butler.

I gasped at the sight in front of me. An ornamental door stood as the entrance to the Spirit Room. However, there was something different about this door.

The four colours of basic elemental mana were pulsing through it, albeit they seemed to have died down quite a bit.

I could imagine the pristine and grandeur this door would have had a century ago when our families still produced spirit contractors.

My father touched the door, and it lit up from his mana. The door swung open steadily as if it was as light as air.

I sucked in air as I walked into the air, shocked at its state. Even though the room was well maintained, it lost its lustre that I was sure it previously carried. The design is similar to the entrance door spread out on the walls.

There was a circular device on the floor. The four basic elements of mana were represented by their colour and divided the device in half.

On the top, there was a beautiful chandelier incomparable to any I had seen before in my life. Following the theme of the room, each part of the chandelier corresponded to the elements of mana.

"For the ceremony, one needs to stand in their element and release their mana. The spirit will come down if they recognise them." Father told me.

I nodded my head, gulping as I dragged my feet to the centre of the room. Stepping onto the device, I went to the green section.

"Huu," I took a deep breath in, relaxing my muscles and my posture. After I was done, I ignited my yellow core with mana.

The air around the room bent to my will, causing everyone around me to feel pressure. Suddenly, the chandelier lit up in green colour.

I could see everyone's eyes widen in shock as a familiar figure manifested in front of me.

"T-that can't be...." a knight said as he pointed towards the small figure in front of me.

"N-no, it is..... the Orbel family gave birth to a spirit contractor!" a mage responded loudly.

However, I ignored them.

A tiny, young female with a pair of butterfly-like wings and elven ears descended on me. She had green hair, green eyes, and fair skin. Her tiny body was covered by a short, pale-green sleeveless dress.

"Sylph... no, Bell...." I muttered. Her ears perked up as small droplets of tears formed around her green eyes.

Suddenly, I found myself thrust into another world, with greenery spread everywhere.

"Oh my god, I finally found you Yuno!"

I heard a voice I thought I would never hear again in my life.

"Bell! It's really you!" I said in a daze.

"Oh, Yunoooo!" Bell said as she hugged my neck with her tiny figure.

"It's good to see you again, Bell." I said as tears threatened to fall out of my eyes as well.

She was crying big tears as she said in a high-pitched voice, "Yunoooo! I was looking for you for so long when I came to this world!"

"What do you mean you came to this world?"

"After you d-d-died, my spirit dissolved. But instead of appearing again in the same world, I came here!"

"Where are we?" I asked again.

"Don't worry, we are inside your mind! The time outside is frozen so you don't need to worry about the others!"

I nodded before happily saying, "I am so happy to see you again, Bell."

"Same here, Yuno! I am still your spirit right?!" she asked.

"Of course. But I am not Yuno Grinberryall anymore." I responded.

"What's your name then?"

"Call be Lancelot, Lancelot Orbel."

"Lancelot... hmm. That's a cool name! Let's bond again!"

With that, she pressed her tiny hand against my forehead. Suddenly, I felt my forehead burning as a symbol emerged on my back.

'Incredible, power is coursing through me without limits.'

"We can do Spirit Dive but it won't be perfect yet, we need to wait for you to get stronger for that!" Bell told me.

"That's fine, Bell. I am just glad you are here," I replied with a smile covering my entire face.

The dream world faded, and we were brought back into the normal world.

I opened my eyes, seeing everyone around me staring with eyes as big as saucers.

Shall we show off a bit, Lancelot? Bell asked me telepathically.

I smirked, activating the power of Spirit Dive. Bell's power coursed through my veins in a higher concentration, and I felt more connected to the wind around me than I ever did before.

My left arm became cloaked with green mana, a green circle of connected crosses appeared around my wrist, a green wing appeared from the left side of my back and a green half-crown of connected crosses appears on the left side of my head.

'As she said, it's only half complete,' I thought before turning to the audience.

Their expressions of shock became more extreme as their jaws dropped and they muttered out in amazement.

Disconnecting the link, I stepped out of Spirit Dive after I felt it was enough.

"Y-you did it, Lancelot! You are the contractor of the Wind Spirit, Sylph!" my father stammered out as he congratulated me.

It seemed like he still couldn't believe what just happened.

|Rachel|

Lancelot's Spirit Dive.

It was powerful, as one would expect, however, there was another feeling to it. It felt like Lancelot already had perfect control over it as if he had used it before.

This shouldn't be possible of course.

I shook my head to get rid of pointless thoughts and approached the device in the middle. Stepping into the blue section of the circle, I activated my water elemental magic.

There wasn't a reaction from the chandelier, much to the disappointment of everyone.

'Dammit.' Just as I lost hope, a childish voice resounded in my head.

'Do you want power?'

Without overthinking it, I took the hand offered to me.

I felt a small girl smiling brightly at me.

It's been a long time since I had a human host, but it's good to meet you!

Power coursed through my veins and my mana power increased to a completely different level. Blue mana surrounded my body, cladding me in something similar to armour.

My connection with water felt even... closer. I always had a very close connection with it, but this was different. I could almost feel the individual molecules of water touching my skin, sending energy throughout my body.

'Hello! My name is Undine and I am the water spirit! I have chosen you as my host!'

I turned towards her before rapidly blinking in shock. 'I got a spirit,' I thought, 'Same as Lancelot?'

'What is this ability?' I asked.

'You are using Spirit Dive, and this boosts your magic abilities to the next level. Of course, this is only half complete as you are too weak for its full power.'

I nodded my head in understanding.

"R-rachel, you too?!" my father said as he gasped, his blue eyes flickering from shock.

I smiled before releasing Spirit Dive.

"Looks like we are equal, Lancelot," I said as I turned towards him.

"Looks like it," he replied with a smile of his own.
