CHAPTER 2

(TRIGGER WARNING: Harmed Animals)

Most of the days, I would stay inside the house during daytime, but today is different. I have no food to eat.

I glared at the suspect. She just made a sound before hiding behind the wooden chair. I sighed heavily before taking my knife, putting it in my boots. I put something on my head to cover my face.

"Stay here," she made a sound again and walked to her bed while wiggling her tail.

I walked outside and breathe the fresh air before walking towards the deeper part of the forest. That is where wild animals usually are.

I walked stealthily across the woods. I saw snakes crawling, birds chirping, and I even heard some roar from wild animals.

I followed the sound until I reached the place.

"Gotcha," I smirked.

I walked real slow, hiding behind the trees until I reached near the small wild pig. I prepared my knife and run fast, stabbing it on its neck. I deepened the knife on its body.

It was shouting in pain until its voice slowly fades.

I sighed.

I slowly put it on my shoulders and walked back to my house. I saw how Celestine jumped out from her bed and walked towards me.

She looked at the pig on my shoulder then looked at me again, making a sound.

I glared at her before walking back outside to cut its flesh for food.

After cutting, I went to the kitchen to cook something for breakfast.

"Come on, Celestine. We have something to do today." I put her food on her bowl and ate my own.

After eating, I changed into my combat boots and a sleeveless under my leather jacket. I wore some leggings to complete my attire.

Or not. I looked at the jewellery box that my mother left me.

I walked near to it and opened it slowly. I saw a beautiful shining necklace.

I smiled to myself before wearing it.

"Perfect." I whispered.

I walked outside and saw Celestine sleeping in her bed. I sighed and didn't bother waking her up.

I locked the cave with a steel to prevent Celestine from walking outside.

I can't be reckless.

This place is dangerous for her. For us.

I left the cave bringing the map. I followed the trail that would lead me to the tunnel. I don't know where that tunnel is going but I must find out.

It took me two hours reach the tunnel.

Or is it a tunnel?

It was like a trail where trains passes. But the difference is… its dark inside. There's no light. I don't even know that if I walk inside, I would know where to go out.

And also, it is the end in the map. Clearly, I don't know where this is going.

I took a deep breath before bravely walking inside.

I don't have any lamp to keep me from darkness so I need to stay close to the side. With all the courage I have, I took a step.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

Ten.

Darkness. I was covered in darkness. I can see nothing but how scary darkness is.

Fear slowly took over my system so I stopped from walking and calmed myself.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

I opened my eyes but I still see nothing.

"I can do this." I whispered. I continued walking while holding the cold steel bar on the side.

The silence was too loud for me to bear. It was too loud, I can't hear anything.

*Crack*

I stopped. I know I stepped into something. It looked like it breaks when I stepped into it.

A glass?

I continued walking but then, I stepped into something again.

I looked down even if I can't see anything.

I sighed. I can't continue walking if I'm overthinking. I closed my eyes while trying to calm myself again. It took me few minutes to convince myself that it was nothing.

I slowly opened my eyes.

"Why are you here?" I voice suddenly echoed. My heart beats erratically. I looked around trying to find any light when a light showed up.

I looked at where the light is and saw an old man holding a lamp.

"Why are you here?" he asked again.

"I'm trying to figure out what is the end of this tunnel." I answered him bravely despite of the fear that is slowly spreading in my system.

I shivered at his laugh.

"How brave you are." He smirked and walked near me. I wanted to step back but I stopped myself. I need to prove to him that I'm not afraid.

"Do you even know what you're doing?" he whispered on my ear. I pulled my face away from him.

"You're reckless. Just like any of them. You're putting yourself into the fire. Even if you know that it will burn you." He spoke every word clearly.

"I know what I'm doing. You don't know me." He laughed hysterically.

"Really? Do you even know what is waiting for you at the end?" I suddenly look at him with my eyes full of curiosity.

He knew what's in the end of this tunnel?

There is an end of this tunnel!

I smirked at him. "You just gave me a reason to continue."

"Stupid!" he suddenly shouted making me jump.

"Do you know who am I? Aren't you curious why do you suddenly saw me here?" I shook my head.

"Well then if you don't. Go back to where you came from and look for an answer. I'm giving you a chance to survive."

I stood there, in front of him. Firmly holding up to my decision.

He sighed and pointed the necklace I'm wearing.

"The chosen one. Go, and make a peace. Come back here when you're ready. I will be here waiting for you." I looked at the necklace my Mom left me.

It was brightly shining, giving me enough light to see in the darkness covering me.

Because of the fear I felt earlier, I didn't notice this.

I looked at him again.

The chosen one?

I don't what he was saying. But what I can't understand more is that I found myself running away from the tunnel. Going back to the cave that has been my home for the last months.

I may not understand him clearly but one thing is for sure.

I am destined to be here.

I am the one that will make the change.
