"Wha-- what did you just say?" Fraley queried, her eyes widening.

"If I give this bread back to you, will you let me go to my mommy?"

Fraley sealed her lips in that instant. She could see in the young girl's eyes that she was serious about her statement. The woman took a deep breath and held the girl's hands.

"Zarya, I won't take the bread from you. I also wouldn't stop you from going out of this cave."

The young girl brightened up, a smile appearing on her face as she answered, "Really?! Are you really allowing me?! Can I go now?!"

As Zarya was about to take a step, Fraley tightened her grip on her hands.

"But Zarya, what will your mommy think if she sees you there? Will she be happy that you went against her orders?"

While listening to the woman, the smile on Zarya's face began to fade. It was replaced by a frown that carried all of her pent-up frustrations.
