Escape

Within the abyss, Kael felt his powers augmented just like the description of the skill said. "I never did try out the other part of the skill. Let's see." Raising his hands, he brought them down instantly.

The beasts stared at him expecting something to happen, but nothing occurred at the end.

ROOAR!

Roaring fiercely, they began charging at him once again. Just a few metres away from him, an object shot forward from above crashing in the centre of their midst.

ROOOAR!

A deafening roar shook the plain as a beast with dark tentacles began attacking the beasts. Its first target was the worm-like beast. Its tentacles quickly wrapped around it and pulled it close. Opening its mouth, he bit down on the side of the beast head, taking a large chunk off.

Soon, the ground began to tremble as more beasts joined the battle. 'Though they won't be able to hold off against them, that would give me enough space to act freely.' The battle between beasts began with a dark shadow freely moving around the battlefield, swallowing up the dead beasts.

Kael watched for a moment and discovered the abyssal beasts were no match. After all, they were up against rank A beasts, three ranks above their level. Not bothered by the loss, Kael's eyes soon landed on the monkey, which he had transformed into an abyssal beast. Surprisingly, the beast was putting up a fight, and Kael soon noticed something amazing.

The beast had already evolved through to a rank C beast and was even at the edge of making another groundbreaking evolution. "How is that possible?" Kael thought, watching the beast carefully.

He soon discovered the reason for the shocking growth after watching him for a minute. "This…"

The monkey beast was soon getting overwhelmed by a large bird beast with a long neck. Not wanting the beast to get killed, Kael finally joined the battle.

Clenching his scythe tightly, he launched himself towards the bird-like beast. His scythe clashed against the crystal wings of the beast, bringing it to the ground.

With both wings cut off, the beast screeched in pain, struggling to its feet. "Not that mighty beast again, huh?" Swinging his scythe down, the beast head was cleanly severed with its body getting swallowed by the shadow that appeared below it.

Kael patted the monkey beast's head slowly, sending his abyssal energy into its body. The wounded beast began to heal and was back in its prime once again. "You'll have to learn how to make use of the abyssal energy," Kael muttered before dropping his hands.

Heading towards the next beast, both clashed for a few minutes before the beast also fell to his blade. Whatever injury gotten from their clash was quickly healed. He could see the abyssal beasts he had summoned were quickly getting killed, and some of the beasts now focusing their attention on him and the monkey beast.

"Let's do this," Kael muttered, charging forward. The clash was a fierce one with both sides giving it their all. Kael's blade had claimed two more lives and began to hum once again.

During the fight, Kael discovered the seamless fluidity while using the scythe. It felt both had connected, and the scythe was even more powerful than before. Cutting through thick scales he thought would have been impossible before and even getting to deliver devastating attacks, which enabled him to kill the beasts quickly. Within his domain, his powers were highly boosted making it possible for him to go toe to toe with rank A beasts.

Within minutes, the abyssal beasts were finally killed, leaving only him and the monkey beast surrounded by the remaining group of the rank A beasts.

Kael knew the battle was going to be a tough one, one he didn't see himself winning even with the overpowered skill active. All this was due to the sudden discovery he made.

Although he was able to replenish his depleted energy within the abyss, the rate at which it was being consumed to keep the abyssal domain active was alarmingly high. Also, the scythe appeared to be draining his abyssal energy all of a sudden.

"I'll have to escape after this," he thought. Mentally commanding the monkey beast to escape from the area, Kael held his scythe high above his head as the abyssal energy within the area began to converge around it in a blinding glow.

Swinging down, a large arc of purplish dark energy streaked forward, heading right toward the gathered bunch of the beasts.

BOOOOM!

An explosion rocked the terrain, causing a cloud of dust to converge around the area. The abyssal domain he made slowly began to shatter, with the beast appearing back at their familiar ground.

Kael, appearing back at the cursed forest once again, wasted no time in charging towards the gate. The residual energy of the abyssal energy was still revolving around the blade, and swinging down with his might, the blade slowly cut through the gate like a hot knife cutting through butter.

The gate separated into two, giving Kael the opportunity to leap through the opening. The gate began to merge back as if being healed. Looking through, Kael saw the beasts that had survived staring at him with fury before the gate finally closed. The attack had done its job in distracting them for a few seconds giving him the opportunity to escape.

"Pheeew!" Wiping the beads of sweat off his face, Kael collapsed on the ground. "This was one hell of a journey," he thought in excitement. "This world holds so many secrets ready to be discovered." He made note of the forest aiming to finish his exploration when he was strong enough.

"There's even possibilities of rank S beasts dwelling there," he thought. He didn't get to make it to the ending of the forest, nor the strange chained up castle. "Don't worry, I'll be back!" kael thought.

"That's quite large," he muttered. "Also, it seems the kill from the monkey beast was also added to mine. That means having a large army of beasts to hunt alongside me, I would be able to level up quickly!"

The journey back was quite uneventful. Calling forth the Slime Ape from the abyss to lead him out of the forest, none of the beasts dared to attack him. During those days, Kael still hunted down beasts on his way back, using them as a means of training his abilities. His journey to the forest was eye-opening. He discovered he was still weak, too weak, that his life could easily be snatched away from him.

"I need to grow strong!" He thought with a strong resolve. After a four day journey, he appeared outside the forest. "Although my life was constantly in danger there, I guess I grew a lot stronger than before."

A forest which none had ever made it out, he came out unscathed and even stronger! "It's time to head to the Wukong sect!"
