Rewards

When we got back to the building, everyone was still there. They all looked tired but they were happy.

"Hey, how did it go?" one of the adventurers asked.

"We won," Erina said.

"Really!?"

"Yes, the deletion monsters are gone for now and the construction is resumed as we speak," Erina said.

"That's good." one of the adventurers said.

"Yeah, it's really good." another one said.

Everyone started to laugh and talk about the battle. They seemed to be excited about the whole thing. I mean it's a good victory without anyone dying.

I looked at Erina and said, "Hey, I'm going to head home now. I need to get some rest after all that fighting."

"Wait a minute, don't go yet! You help at today's battle so let's talk to the receptionist, to get your reward." Erina said that.

"Alright..."

We then went to talk with the receptionist.

"Hello there. How can I help you two?" the receptionist asked us.

"Hi there. He would like to claim his rewards from today's battle." Erina said that.

"But before that can I get his adventurer keycard first?" the receptionist said as she pointed at me.

"Oh, about that... he's new and isn't registered with the faction yet. So he doesn't have that keycard." Erina said.

"Is that true?" the receptionist asked me.

"Yes, it is..." I said.

The receptionist looked at me and said, "Well, if that's the case then the rewards that you would receive would be only half based on how many deletion monsters you have killed. I'm sorry." The receptionist then asked for my keycard and she explained that it has an auto-record feature on how many deletion monsters I have killed.

"No, it's alright. I would rather do that than nothing. Thanks." I said that as I handed my keycard.

"You're welcome."

"So, how much would he be rewarded?" Erina asked.

"Umm, the total amount of the rewards would be 2650. And it seems like he has killed plenty of the monsters but because he's not in the faction. So he would be receiving 1300 credits as his reward." the receptionist explained.

"Okay, thank you."

"You're welcome."

After I received the reward, I was able to buy some food and drink. Finally, I could be able to afford that on my own as I do not have any credits left because of my purchase a few days ago.

But still, there's still something that I wanna ask Erina before I leave this place and head back to my room. Because I heard that the receptionist told me that the monster that I killed was categorized as a D-Rank Deletion Monster.

"Hey, Erina? What is a D-Rank Deletion Monster?" I asked her.

Erina looked at me and said, "Ah I forgot to explain to you about that. I'm sorry. D-rank monsters are considered to be the weakest of the deletion monsters."

"Weakest? Are you sure... like they are moving pretty damn fast." I said that.

"I know but it's still the weakest type. And besides, we are lucky that the monsters that we fought today were D-rank deletion monsters. Because if they were higher than that, we would've been in a lot of trouble." Erina explained.

"So, what rank are the other deletion monsters then?"

"Hmm, well if I'm correct then the next rank up would be C-rank and the highest rank would be S-rank. Some monsters are considered as special and are not considered as deletion monsters but are still dangerous. They are the ones who are considered to be a boss monsters."

I was quite surprised to hear all of that... I do think that the deletion monster is strong but I am not aware that they have their own class. I mean the rank that is given by us.

And for the battle that just occurred, the monsters were just a bunch of D-rank monsters. And that alone is quite hard to believe.

But then again, it is true.

Since Erina said that... because she has been here for long and it seems like everybody has heard of them. I better stop doubting myself for now.

"Well, I think you should go back to your room and rest. You did a great job today." Erina said that.

"Okay, you're right." I decided to head back to my room and rest. As I do feel tired already and probably just wanna lay down for a bit.

But before I headed back, Erina told me to think about what faction would I be joining. As there's no way I could be a part-time adventurer for the rest of my days in this out-of-bounds world.

She does have a point but I still have time and I will take it slowly… to choose which faction that I wanted to join.

As I'm heading back, I have a feeling that things are going to be hectic from now on.

And I mean even though we won the battle today, I don't know if we are going to be able to win against those deletion monsters in the future.

I mean we were lucky that it was just D-Rank deletion monsters.

As I continue to walk back, I couldn't help but think that those monsters that we encountered are actually pretty damn strong. Because I was thinking too much, I didn't notice that I bumped into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were there." I apologized to the person that I bumped into.

The person that I bumped into was a man, with very dirty blonde hair. He is wearing rather raggedy clothes.

He said, "No, it's my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going. So I'm sorry for bumping into you."

"It's alright. But, are you okay? You are not hurt, are you?" I asked the man.

"No, I'm fine. Don't worry." The man said that as he smiled.

"Okay..."

"So, what are you doing here?" the man asked.

"Oh, I was just on my way home after a long day... you know the attack of the deletion monsters today."

"Ah yes yes... I remember that happening today. To think that the deletion monsters actually come when I am in the middle of my job." The man said.

"Your job? Are you working for the city guard?" I asked.

"No, I'm not. I'm just the one who handles construction materials. I was just doing my job as the materials supplier for the construction site when the deletion monsters attacked."

"I see... and is that the only reason why you were in the development area?"

"Yeah, the monsters were heading there and I was on my way to the development area when the monsters were approaching. So I just ran and hid."

"I see..."

"I heard that the deletion monsters are gone now, thanks to the adventurers. It's really a good thing." The man said.

"Yes, it is... but it was quite hard. Even though the deletion monsters are weak, they are still fast and it's like a never-ending supply of monsters." And when I was just about to say more, I realized something..."Wait a minute! You are from the Builder Faction!"

"Yes, I am." The man said. "And If I am not a member of the Builder Faction. So I didn't think that I would be in the area at all when that happened." He laughingly added.

"So, how many of the deletion monsters have you killed?" the man asked.

"Just a few but that isn't important... Why do you run away? Isn't you the one who led all of the people here to fight the monsters when this city doesn't exist yet?" I asked.

"Well, I'm the leader at that time but that doesn't mean I'm the strongest. And besides, that day is already over. Everyone knows that I am not the best at doing so and it's better if I leave the person that worthy to be in charge of it."

"Is that so? But aren't you scared that the deletion monsters will come back again? Why wouldn't you fight it..."

"Of course I am, but that isn't my job anymore. All I do now is to expand the city so that we could hold a lot more of the deleted characters that come here." The man explained.

"So, you're a member of the builder faction now?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm a member of the builder faction and the only one it seems. And I need to stay alive as my dying wouldn't be doing any good for this out-of-bound city." the man said.

"So, what's your name? I don't even know what to call you." I asked the man.

"Oh, my apologies. I am not the person who introduces myself to people. But I would like to know your name, young adventurer." the man asked.

"Oh, it's alright. I am the new guy, called Eizo and it's nice to meet you."

"It's my pleasure but I should get to work now. Bye." The man waved goodbye and went away.

After that encounter with the man, I am quite relieved to hear that there are no more deletion monsters after today.
