Chapter 3: Licking dog ?

After arriving at the frost manor, Isaac was thinking that although the Frost family is not as prestigious as the Jacksons, it's still something he couldn't have compared to his previous life.

After a few greetings and a brief conversation, they invited him to dinner. Arian apologized to him, "I'm sorry for the waiting; the children have not yet returned from work."

Seeing that he would have to wait for some time, Isaac took his phone to inform the parents of this body that he would be returning a little late today and he had some business.

After waiting for about 5 minutes, Adrian, 28 years old and the eldest son of the family, made his entry. He was surprised to find the fiance of his sister at home.

To be honest, Adrian considers Iris simply as a way to win power once sold. That's why even though he is tired of acting all friendly towards her and at the same time as the caring big brother, he still did it.

His father had taught him since his childhood, and more precisely since the birth of Iris, never to consider her as his sister, a lesson he had well retained, although he feels some guilt towards her as he started growing up and understanding what is happening. But as he became business-minded, he accepted this setup.

After some discussion about the economy in which Isaac showed little interest, Adrian understood his place and didn't continue bothering him.

After waiting for an extra 10 minutes, Iris still didn't come, which seemed strange to Isaac since it had been mentioned in the novel that she suggested the cancellation of her marriage to her the same day she discovered he was sleeping with another woman before the marriage but was eventually convinced by them.

Worried about making Isaac angry, Arian decided to call her.

He managed to reach her and asked her where she was. She replied with a hint of guilt: "I was very busy at work, and I did not see the time pass. I cannot go home today; I really have something important to do at the moment." She quickly ended the call, as if fearing something, without him even mentioning Isaac's visit.

Arian remained without a voice; he tried to call her back, but she did not answer this time.

With a nervous smile, Arian informed Isaac: "Haha, dear Isaac, I just called Iris; she told me she was very busy at work and she could not come. I think she is a little stressed about the marriage." He was truly worried that Isaac would be angry; it was a billion-dollar dinner after all.

Isaac did not stay for dinner with them and left directly. In his car, Isaac seriously thought about the nature of his relationship with Iris.

Although he is attracted to her, he would never allow his honor to be overridden. If he has to be a licking dog before being with her, he would rather die than this.

After careful consideration, he took his phone and sent his assistant Iris's number with the message: "I want you to locate this number." He received an "OK" in response.

After about 3 minutes of waiting, he received the address where Iris was. He was surprised to learn it was a bar. He ordered his driver: "Go to address XXXXXX."

After 21 minutes of driving, they finally arrived.

Upon entering, Isaac was greeted by the melancholy sound of a man playing the piano, creating a dark atmosphere, far from the festive atmosphere of a nightclub that he expected.

He immediately identified Iris, sitting alone at a table, absorbed and in a daze, slowly drinking, visibly lost in her thoughts. Her appearance was very different from what he had imagined from the novel, but he understood that most people had changed their appearance after the apocalypse. She had black hair, fair skin, and eyes slightly tinted with blue.

She was dressed professionally, although this seemed common, as most other clients also seemed out of work, judging by their demeanor.
