"Kairan: Surviving in the Modern World" CHAPTER 17

"Now let me explain it to you" – Baal

"The students of Roman Numbers or CRN is son or daughter of Political and Government officials while the Ancient Letters or CAL is from normal society and has a normal life, we the Class of numbers which also known as CN is from Aristocrat and Noble families that is responsible for ruling the underworld and last the Classes of Letters or CL they are from commoners who wishes to go underworld and trying their luck on finding good and reliable masters" –Baal

"And they don't have any issue with that? I mean all types of people or students are attending one university?"

I asked.

"So far none, and if ever that happened that person who mention about our existents will be punish severely" – Baal

"The rest knew that we exist but the Government cannot do anything about us since we're in different kind of society but living in the same world" --Xebec

"I'm curious, what is the punishment if someone tried to disclose information about the underworld?"

I asked.

"Death"

They said at the same time in the same tone of voice, I see—so that old book of history is not a hoax, the information there is still reliable and still running up until these days. 

"We know that some of the common people or the 'commoners' already knew about us but they don't dare to mention it out loud or search for it, because of some doubts or maybe they think that we are only part of history that written on books" – Xebec

"That's right, so in short CAL and CRN Government make them believe that we the CN and CL are just part of history and make them think that we didn't exist at all" – Ash

Ash said and shrugs his shoulders.

"So what about the Queen?"

"Queens is just one of University rules, and that rule only applied for CN students, because of the Aristocrat and Noble bloodline that we have, we need to compete with each other and that thing cannot be avoided, it's our obligation to stand out before others. In old days there is discrimination on women born in Aristocrat family they cannot overwhelm men in any aspect but now higher ups decided to give them opportunity to prove themselves that they can be a ruler too" -- Baal

Tapping the table while looking at it. 

"So Queen is made for women who has a potential to be the next leader, like Class-8D and Class-9A and other Class Numbers who has more than two females they need to  prove that they are qualified to be above of all and can be call Queen, get respect by both male and female classmates that can be their soon ally" -- Ash

"So why did Class-9E have no other female students for centuries?"

"T—that's because we are the worst class, the last section, all of the students here is called black sheep by their own family, the so called child of disaster by Aristocrat and Nobles" -- Xebec

"But why am I here? And you too Ash?"

"Oh, isn't that because both of you and Ash have the worst reputation?" – Xebec

"What? Me?!"

We both yell at the same time and with disbelief.

"Now that you said that, I used to hear about you being mentioned by my older brother, saying that you're too beautiful but a psychopath" – Xebec

I frowned then Baal hit Xebec on his nape saying that he should be careful of his words and started to argue with each other again.

"We may be labeled as black sheep but we're still reliable and had a noble blood, it's just a pure luck if we're able to find ways to get high status or a dependable master that will treat us right" – Baal

"Well—if that's what you want then you all need Authority, Power, Wealth, Skills and Status right?"

I asked them and all of them nodded and smiled. We talked a lot and asked me how I got involved in an accident and I also told them how I met Ash for the first time after I lost my memories. Both Xebec and Baal get mad at him and the result is, here the three of them are fighting because of different reasons. 

The door suddenly opened and a guy in middle age entered the room, all of us stared at him, he looked a bit nervous and afraid. He tried to please us to take our seats and listen to him but no one was listening.

I observed him for a while until I saw a small smirk that immediately fades away. I told Ash, Xebec and Baal to go back to their seats.

"Sit down"

I said with a calm but cold tone like my usual voice while walking towards my spot, after saying that the whole class went quiet and immediately went back to their respective places without making too much noise.

This is one of the reasons why having an intimidating aura is really helpful in any situation especially in times like this.

"T-thank you—"

The teacher said, still nervous, he wrote his name on the board.

"I—I am Mr. Arthur Louise, b-but you can call me Mr. A-Arthur"

He's talking in front but not everyone is listening nor interested in what he is talking about, but the good thing is that they keep their silence and don't do anything funny.

"T-then that's all for today, I-I will start the lesson tomorrow e-enjoy your first day"

He said and left the room in such a hurry. Little by little they start to make noises again and talk to their own group of friends. Ash approaches me and sits on the edge of my table. He stayed like that without saying  a word to me. I just looked outside of the window and saw some girls cheering for three male students walking, what's going on?

"Ohh~ is that the famous three man team?"

That is Roy who is sitting behind me.

"Who's that?"

"They are from Class of Letters their names are Damion Baoto the sniper, Hegion Baoto the slasher and Nero Wakam their strategist"

What a great combination and they are from Class of Letters that means they are commoners who wanted to become a part of the underground. Now that I think about it, being just a hacker is not enough, I need more reliable people that I can trust and I can rely on. But how can I come close to them if this bastard in front of me is always following me? What a serious pain.

After a while a bunch of girls came to our class and started making much more noise.

"Now, now let's pick up our future soldiers and sacrifices, who will die for us" 

One of them said and smiled devilishly.

"Roy, who are they?"

I asked and looked at him and the whole class. All of them looked pissed and helpless at the same time, unlike before they didn't even say a single word to defend themselves.

"They are from Class-8D they usually go room by room to find their own subordinates" -- Roy

  "But why do they do that?"

"Like you and Ash they are Aristocrats who born as descendants of underworld founder and unlike most of us here we have a noble parents but they're still from common people before and just buy their title" – Roy

Wait? Can you buy a title to be a Noble? That means this girl right here is an Aristocrat that uses their family title to get human power to become their subordinate? Isn't that kinda unfair for some Nobles who had the most potential just to get a treatment like that?

"Roy, how did you know that?"

"The what? That you're from Aristocrats? There are only a total of ten surnames that are said to be the legit descendants. How am I able to forget about it?" -- Roy

"Hey you?! The one who is sitting on the table I want you!" – Random girl

She was talking to Ash, but Ash just stared at her and stayed still.

"I said I want you to come here right now!" – Random girl

But Ash didn't bother to listen to her but instead he stared at me. He opened his mouth as if he was about to say something but he didn't continue it and looked away. The girl starts to walk closer to him and tries to pull him by his collar but Ash doesn't move a bit, the girl looks pissed off because of that and starts getting mad at him and yells.

"Do you not know me? I am the only daughter of the Scott Family! Now that you know that, get up and follow me!" – Random girl

Like before Ash didn't say anything or even move and it's getting annoying because they are in front of me who wanted silence, I bare it a little more until can't, I stand up and drag that girl by her clothes in front of the class where her companions is, and some of my classmates is also there standing on the corner waiting for what will happened next, they are the one who has been chosen by this girls.

"Go back your sits"

I said and without hesitation all of them headed back to their seats.

"What are you doing?! Who do you think you are?!" – Random girl 2

"Leave this room before you regret it"

I said pointing to the door for them to leave but they just laughed at me.

"Who do you think you are?—wait if I am not mistaken you're the said 'new queen' of the CN" –Random girl

"And so?"

"Don't be so pathetic dear—you didn't prove anything yet." – Random girl 3

"So you want me to prove something?"

I said and smirked at them, they shortly turned pale and looked afraid but they covered it up by nervously laughing.
