Chapter 26 : Something's wrong
*Lexie’s POV*
Natasha and I pull up to Noland's mansion. The fading lights of the sun casts shadows over the sprawling estate, making it appear even more imposing than it usually does. As we step out of the car, the sound of gravel crunching beneath our feet fills the air.
"Lexie, thank you for bringing me back," Natasha says, her voice barely above a whisper. Her eyes are filled with regret and a vulnerability I rarely see in her.
"Of course, Tasha. You're my best friend," I respond, squeezing her hand reassuringly.
As we approach the entrance, the large wooden doors open, revealing Noland standing there with a concerned expression. His strong build and salt-and-pepper hair make him appear both distinguished and dangerous.
"Natasha," he breathes, relief evident in his deep blue eyes.
"Dad." She embraces him tightly, her statuesque frame enveloped in his arms. "I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly before."
