That day, which was also her birthday, yet her family members didn't remember, but at that point, she didn't care, the only thing that was on her mind, was curiosity about the selection, an event that would change everything within the kingdoms, for it would have been years since anyone had sat on the legendary throne and the anticipation was palpable for there was uncertainty if anyone was capable as yet.
On the morning of the announcement, Violet woke up in her chambers with her servant by her side, already up with breakfast and her clothes to get her started for the day.
She woke up with a yawn while stretching and the servant girl left staring at her as Violet's long silky hair streamed down her body as she sat up on the bed.
When she turned to look at the servant girl, her piercing eyes narrowed causing the girl to blush and turn away, wondering what was happening to her.
Violet was beautiful and many were jealous of her causing her to get unnecessary attention and more to envy her, adding to the table of hate that she received, even women would at times get attracted to the way he carried herself for now a lot had started to change within the girl. it was as though she was becoming a completely different person to most.
"Good morning, my lady," The servant girl said as Violet stood up from the bed with an aloof air about her and the servant girl peeked at her.
"Good morning, Geniveve," She replied with a firm tone as she opened the balcony door in her room and stepped outside to get some fresh air, while looking at the bustling city before her eyes, which narrowed.
"You... Remember my name?" Genevieve asked and Violet glanced back at her as her hair flowed gently with the wind and the sunlight making it shimmer a little.
"Yes, of course I do... I know the names of those that work close to me," She responded.
"That's... Unexpected, not many even care to remember the name of us servants..." The girl mumbled and Violet heard her, knowing what she was saying was a fact, but she did not comment.
"Oh.... My lady, the event announcement has been made but if you want to know more about it, you will have to ask a family member, precisely...." Genevieve said as she trailed off and Violet's eyes narrowed.
"The king, my father... I know... The event where the eligible competitors will start preparing and competing to see who will rise above all in every required trait, in order to sit on the throne will begin soon... Only those approved by the leaders will be able to join," Violet replied.
"Yeah, that's what I heard, well I guess you don't need to worry about that, since you can't join..." Genevieve said and Violet's eyes narrowed with a smile on her face.
"Yeah, you are right, of course I can't join... But I am still curious... I will freshen up, and leave my breakfast on the table, I will eat when I am finished," Violet said as the girl stared at her with a bit of skepticism and reluctantly agreed.
She placed the breakfast down then left the room after bowing her head in respect and Violet went to freshen up to get started with her day.
Genevieve joined the other servants in the kitchen in the palace as they were preparing to serve the family and she sat down to contemplate a few things about Violet, since she found her hard to understand.
"Stop trying to figure her out, she is the most different among the family members, no different than an outcast, they hardly even look in her direction..." One of the other female servants said and Geniveve's brows furrowed, for she didn't like the way that sounded at all.
"Why do they all treat her as if her existence means nothing?" She asked.
"Because to them that's basically it, someone that doesn't belong, look I know it is harsh, she is a nice person in my opinion but it's best if we do not stick our nose in the royal's business unless we have a death wish so stop, do you understand?" The servant asked her.
Genevieve sighed and nodded reluctantly since she knew very well, it would only cause trouble to her and possibly Violet, which was something she didn't want since Violet would usually deal with problems on a daily basis.
A little while after, Violet finished doing her morning routine, she got dressed in her royal attire and tied her long silky hair up in a fancy high pony then placed her high-top strapped boots on and ate her breakfast that the girl left for her and when she was finished, she headed to the throne room to see the king.
Upon entering, the king glanced at her for a brief moment before talking to his advisors and she stood at one side and many that were present stared at her, most with mixed feelings and opinions towards her, but she couldn't care less and was always aloof, which only fueled some of their hatred.
ASs she stood there, the king began discussing the selection and a few things that needed to be done in order for the event to get started, since many eligible royals and other warriors, as well as other magical beings, were joining.
'That event... A chance...They all look down on me like I am some sort of insignificant being and put themselves on a pedestal, believing that they are better, when they are rotten to the core...' She thought with a glint in her eyes.
"Join the selection..." A voice cold, commanding and firm, echoed in her head, causing her to flinch, she looked around but saw no one talking to her, the voice was unfamiliar.
'Who is that? Am I actually going crazy now?" She wondered as she shook her head with a shiver at the very idea.
"This is your chance to become something more, if you want to change your life and make a point, or do you want to become an insignificant being whose life is worth nothing?" The voice asked, which struck a nerve and her brows twitched in irritation as she clenched her fists.
Before she could reply, she saw herself surrounded by an empty space and her eyes narrowed as she wondered what was happening to her and a magical creature appeared in front of her, looking directly at her with piercing red eyes.
