Chapter 32

Sam, Dean, Ellen, and Jo all return to the war room to find some loud song blasting from... well, from somewhere. It doesn't look like there are any speakers in here.

Gabriel's dancing around, a goofy grin on his face. He grabs Charlie by the wrist and pulls her in. She giggles and starts dancing next to him. The song changes suddenly, and he pulls her in, attempting to tango with someone who has no idea how to. They're both laughing, their failure more a joke than a disappointment.

"You're missing the rose!" Charlie reminds him.

"You mean rose?"

Suddenly, a rose appears between his teeth. Gabriel does that funny eyebrow thing from Dr. Sexy that the author can't describe, causing Charlie to double over in laughter. The rose disappears, and Gabriel laughs with her. The two of them legitimately look high right now.

When they calm down, Gabriel tells her, "Ooh, I know a song you'll love."

"Which one?" she asks excitedly.

Suddenly, the song "Binary Sunset" from the original movie begins playing. The room changes to a sandy color, with two orange circles on one wall. Charlie grins, recognizing the scene as Tatooine immediately.

"I need the — awesome!"

She steps up on the small "sand" hill Gabriel creates, looking out into the suns like she's Luke Skywalker.

"I need the wind, too!" she adds. "I want the full effect."

Gabriel laughs as he gives her the dramatic wind to blow her hair around.

Charlie stares off into the distance dramatically for a few more seconds, then bursts out laughing. "Dude, I'm Luke freaking Skywalker!"

"You're a hell of a lot cooler than Luke," Gabriel tells her. The room returns to its typical war room style, the song changing to Rick Springfield's 'Don't Talk to Strangers.' Charlie grins and takes his hands, and they start dancing around together.

Did I mention how everyone else in the bunker is currently in the war room, too? They're all staring at the two of them, some more amused than others. Michael, for example, is watching his little brother with a small smile, glad to see he's feeling okay.

Sam still feels bad about what happened between them, as he should, and is thinking about the times when Gabriel would have gone to him instead of dancing around with the lesbian of the group.

Even Adam, as scared of everything as he is, is smiling slightly. It's kind of fun, watching other people have fun, especially when they're so into it like the two of them.

"Guys, come on, it's a party!" Gabriel exclaims. He hops over to Balthazar, attempting to get his brother to dance, but he just rolls his eyes.

"Why are you so strange?" Balthazar ask.

"Because otherwise I'd be normal and where's the fun in that?" Gabriel replies with a grin, doing a literal backflip just to prove his point.

Charlie runs over to Kevin. "Hey, Kev, let's dance!" She pulls him into the middle of the room, and Kevin just stands around awkwardly.

Charlie sighs in exaggerated disappointment and runs up to Samandriel at the same time Gabriel does, almost resulting in a crash. Kevin takes the opportunity to hide against the wall again.

"Come on, Alfie, dance with us!" Charlie insists.

"I think I'll pass," Samandriel replies.

"Please?" Charlie pleads.

"You know you want to," Gabriel adds.

"I don't, actually, but thanks for offering."

Gabriel groans as if he's being the most unreasonably stubborn person in the world. "Hey, Adam, you'll dance with us, right?"

Adam just looks over at Samandriel for help.

"I don't think Adam wants to dance, either," Samandriel tells him.

"You're wrong!" Charlie replies, taking Adam by the hand and pulling him away. She starts jumping around, which is the most fun way to dance to pop songs. Noticing that Adam doesn't know what to do, she takes his hands again and waves them around, still jumping/dancing.

Adam hesitantly begins doing the same, and Charlie lets out an excited squeal. She nods in encouragement and drops his hands, still flailing hers around. Adam does the same, and slowly but surely, a smile creeps up onto his face.

"Ah, I knew you'd like it!" Charlie tells him. "Hey, guys, if it's good enough for Adam, it's good enough for you!"

Gabriel pulls Samandriel out with them, jumping around and hoping he'll get the hint. Samandriel just looks down at him, amused but not willing to participate.

"Come on, Alfie!" Charlie insists. "Dance with us!" Seeing that he's still not convinced, she adds, "Adam thinks it's fun."

"I'm not a dancer," Samandriel says awkwardly.

"Well, duh," she replies. "None of us are."

"Speak for yourself," Gabriel replies with excessive sass — which is pretty much a normal level of sass for him. "No, kidding. Trust me. Standard's not that high."

"I don't want to dance," Samandriel tells him.

Gabriel sighs. "Fine. Be a party pooper. Charlie, Adam, and I will just have to find some more fun friends."

Samandriel steps away, and Gabriel runs up to Mary and John instead. Sensing that John is the less fun one of the two, he decides to try to get Mary to join first. Maybe John will follow.

"M'lady," Gabriel greets her with an exaggerated bow.

Mary stifles a laugh and waits to see what he's planning on doing.

Gabriel takes her hand and kisses it in an overly fancy way. "May I have this dance?"

Mary raises an eyebrow, an amused smile on her face. "Sure?"

"You. I like you." Gabriel pulls her out into the middle of the room and they start dancing with much less hesitation than it took to get Adam to join. Seeing that getting Mary to join is pretty easy, Gabriel decides to try with John. As soon as he looks at the man, John shakes his head. Instead of forcing him to join, Gabriel decides to search for someone else who's more likely to dance with them.

He looks around, Michael catching his eye from his lonely corner of the room. He gives the younger angel a small smile, and Gabriel waves before bounding up to Jo.

"Hey, hey, hey, Jo! Hey, Jo! Jo!"

"Hey, Gabriel! Hey, hey, hey Gabriel!" she teases.

"You wanna dance?"

"Do I have a choice?"

"Nope!"

Gabriel pulls her out with the rest of the dancing people, and she comes willingly. He takes her hand and spins her around, and she can't help but laugh. Gabriel, satisfied with having Jo out here, returns to dancing around dramatically with Charlie.

Not wanting to dance alone because that looks stupid, she walks over to Michael. He gives her a puzzled look, which doesn't go away when she tries to drag him away from the wall. She's not sure if the reason she can't is because he's way taller than her or because he's an angel, but dragging him away is impossible.

"What are you doing?" Michael asks her.

"I'm trying to get you to dance, but it doesn't look like it's working," she replies.

"Why are you trying to get me to dance?" he asks, confused. Is this an angel thing? Because it's shockingly similar to Castiel's attitude towards everything.

"Because otherwise I'll be dancing alone, and that's awkward," she replies.

"No, I mean why me?" he clarifies.

She pauses. Why did she choose Michael? Was it just because he was alone and she doesn't really have any friends here? Probably.

"Why not?" she replies with a careless shrug. "Come on. It was your brother that started it. You can't just not join us."

"Gabriel is Lucifer's brother, too," he reminds her. "Why don't you go make him dance instead?"

"Lucifer's not even out here."

"Yes. He's right there."

Jo follows his gaze to find that Lucifer is sitting on the floor in the corner of the room playing on a Gameboy. A . Who uses Gameboys anymore?

"How long has he been there?" she wonders aloud.

"Since before you came back," Michael tells her.

"He's been playing on a Gameboy for the last, like, fifteen minutes?" she says incredulously. "How could that thing entertain anyone that long?"

"Is that what that box is called?" Michael asks.

"Yeah. I doubt anyone uses them anymore, though. Even when I was alive, they were pretty stupid. I can't imagine them entertaining anyone."

Lucifer chucks the Gameboy at her, hitting her square in the face. She glares at him, and he just shrugs.

"I don't know. They seem pretty entertaining now," he tells her with a satisfied smirk.

Jo rolls her eyes and turns back to Michael, holding her forehead where the Gameboy hit. Her hand feels wet. Crap, she might be bleeding. "How do you put up with him?"

"I don't have to," he replies simply. "He hates me enough that he just ignores me. I'm not sure if that means he hates me more or less than you, though. Here, let me."

He removes Jo's hand and waves his own hand over her forehead, healing the cut the Gameboy left. While he's at it, he makes the blood on her hand disappear as well.

"Better?"

She nods. "Yeah, thanks, Michael. You're possibly the only 'monster' that I actually like." She makes finger quotes around "monster," showing she doesn't really see him as that.

"And you're my favorite... anything, I guess? I don't really have friends, so..."

"Hey!" Gabriel whines. "What about me? I thought we were all friends here!"

"And you, too," both Michael and Jo add at once.

"Okay, I feel loved," Gabriel replies. "Carry on."

"Can I 'carry on' making fun of Lucifer?" Jo asks with exaggerated enthusiasm, just to annoy Lucifer.

"If you want to get your arms ripped off, sure," Gabriel replies.

"Is Lucifer Chewbacca now?" Charlie jokes.

"No, see, Chewbacca is capable of sympathy," Gabriel tells her. "Lucifer's just downright scary."

"That's why you're my favorite brother," Lucifer tells him. "You just know."

Gabriel grins. "Don't worry, bro. I got you."
