Chapter 57: Disguise

Chapter 57: Disguise

"I thought you took off with my car," Nick Fury joked as he got into the taxi, looking at Colin in the driver's seat.

"I picked up a passenger on the way and stopped to buy something, so I was slightly delayed," Colin explained casually, steering the taxi towards the Avengers' secret base on Fifth Avenue.

"It seems like you have a knack for being a taxi driver," Nick commented upon hearing Colin's explanation, glancing at the bag on the passenger seat. Then he half-jokingly, half-seriously said, "Are you interested in joining me as a taxi driver? I can introduce you to the 'New York Taxi Workers Union.'"

"I'd rather pass," Colin shook his head in response to Nick's enthusiastic job offer. "I still prefer my original job. If possible, I'd rather find a similar job as a cover."

Nick didn't get angry at Colin's refusal; he just expressed a hint of disappointment. "Too bad, I was actually thinking of forming a two-person driver team with you."

Colin silently mocked in his mind as he glanced at Nick sitting in the backseat through the rearview mirror.

Back at the Avengers' base, Colin returned to his monotonous and busy routine in the following days. He continued publishing the "Superman" comic in the real world while engaging in practical combat training with the Punisher, learning various firearm skills and battlefield medical techniques.

If it weren't for the occasional acquisition of the "Time Shard" from Frank, Colin would have almost forgotten his own situation amidst this regular daily life. However, as the training sessions became more frequent, he gradually noticed that obtaining the "Time Shards" from the Punisher was becoming more difficult.

It started with their initial encounters and continued during their subsequent combat training sessions.

Only recently, after three or four clashes with Frank, did Colin manage to obtain a single "Time Shard."

This meant that if he wanted to acquire new "Time Shards" from the Punisher in the future, he would have to create more interactions.

While contemplating this, Colin focused his attention on the most recently acquired "Time Shard (Frank Castle)."

Beneath the cracked glass-like surface, he could faintly see the flickering figure of Frank Castle, the Punisher, in his military uniform, confidently leading two figures, one big and one small, with a smile on his face.

Looking at the gentle expression on Frank's face in the "Time Shard," Colin found it difficult to connect it with the cold and ruthless figure he had in mind.

"Here, this is your new identity," the next day, Nick handed Colin a document with his name and Social Security number printed on it.

The series of Social Security numbers on the new document corresponded to a genuine file in the Social Security Administration, including a complete record of Colin's education, loans, and driver's license information from elementary school to entering society. For an ordinary person, forging a new identity was clearly not a simple task.

However, for Howard, it was an easy feat.

From a certain perspective, what Howard created was not a forgery but a genuine identity.

Handing over the new identification document, Nick asked Colin about his thoughts on his new appearance.

The new identity prepared by the Dark Avengers was more than just a name. It also included a disguised appearance, such as height, weight, and skin color.

But all of this would only be finalized once Colin made his decision, and then Tony would forge and synthesize the new identity's photos from childhood to adulthood, uploading them into the files.

"Perhaps we don't need to go through so much trouble for this," Colin said. If it were before today, he would have needed to cooperate with Nick Fury and use the nano-mask he had used before to create a new face for his new identity. However, now he could simplify the process.

As he spoke, Colin took out the glasses he had purchased during his previous actions and put them on.

In the next second, under Nick Fury's gaze, Colin, now wearing glasses, seemed like a completely different person.

Even though he was standing right in front of him, Nick's perception instinctively distinguished the Colin wearing glasses from the Colin he had in mind.

"How did you do that?" Nick furrowed his brow, suppressing the contradictory feeling that arose within him, and looked at him with his one intact eye.

"Just a special disguise technique," Colin slightly smirked in response to Nick's question, taking off the glasses from his face and explaining with a smile, "I don't think it's achievable with just simple disguise techniques."

Observing Colin removing his glasses, Nick's previous conflict and sense of unfamiliarity disappeared.

His gaze swept back and forth between Colin's face and the glasses in his hands, showing a strong sense of inquiry.

"I also discovered this new ability of mine recently," Colin shrugged, pushing the responsibility onto his innate talent. He glanced at the "S" symbol, representing Superman, on the back of his hand, the Black Iron Mark, directly attributing everything to his power.

This was the latest superpower that appeared in the ongoing Superman comic in the real world.

In this issue of the comic, Colin intentionally included a storyline called "Dual Identity," which explained why no one, including Lois, had the slightest suspicion of Superman's identity. In this story, Colin described a superpower possessed by Superman, called "Super Disguise."

Using Superman's daily life as the plot, Colin depicted how Superman effortlessly utilized the "Super Disguise" ability, seamlessly transitioning between his identities as Superman and the journalist Clark Kent.

Surprisingly, readers responded enthusiastically to this comic content that depicted Superman's daily life.

And Colin took the opportunity to unlock this ability.

It fit perfectly with his new identity disguise in the alternate world this time.
