Summer Days *6*

A/N: Sorry this one is kind of short. They might all end up being about this length (maybe a little longer) until I get to about chapter 22.

Gym had ended, and everyone was already changed out. They all sat on the bleachers talking now waiting for the bell to ring and signal the end of 2nd period. Barrett and Xaldin hadn’t stopped yelling at each other since the beginning of class, but they took their verbal fight outside leaving Cloud in charge for the moment.

You were still sitting by Yuffie. She was ranting about some sort of fair that was coming up soon but she didn’t get far into her story when a silver haired male walked up.

“Hey [Name].” Riku greeted taking the empty spot by you, “Yuffie.”

“Hey Riku!” You chirped back in reply.

Yuffie’s eyes widened for a moment then she squinted and shifted her gaze from him to you repeatedly. Her face stretched into a wide grin.

“Oh I see…” She stood up, “I’ll talk to you later [Name]!”

Yuffie skipped away from you and Riku.

“What’s up with her?” You questioned.

“Who knows? Anyways, what class do you have next?” Riku asked turning to face you.

“Umm…” You thought for a moment before answering, “Art.”

The bell rang and from the corner of your eye you saw Riku sigh.

‘Maybe he doesn’t like his next class.’ You thought.

“I’ll see you at lunch then [Name].” Riku said before swiftly standing up and rushing out of the gym before you could reply.

“Hi [Name]!” Kairi giggled as she walked up next to you.

“Hi Kairi.” You replied warily.

“I heard you had art! I can show you the way there, it’s near my locker.” She offered.

Slowly a smile stretched across your lips, “Thanks Kairi. I’d appreciate that.”

She returned the smile and linked her arm through yours. The two of you began to walk down the hallway. She led you halfway down the hallway before letting you go.

“Here just keep walking forward and you’ll see it soon. Bye!” She waved before walking into a classroom.

You waved bye and began to walk in the direction she pointed. You kept looking for the room, but couldn’t see it. The hallways were beginning to thin out until it was you alone in the hall. The bell rang loudly and you stopped where you were. You had reached the end of the hallway but still no art room!

“[Name]?”

You whipped around to see Angeal standing in the hallway, “Hi Angeal. What are you doing out here?”

“I'm an office assistant. I'm supposed to be out here right now. What about you?” He said with a smirk. He crossed his arms over his broad chest and walked towards you so you were directly in front of him.

“I uh kinda got lost.” You replied meekly with a shy smile.

He chuckled and shook his head, “Where are you supposed to be?”

“Art.” You replied.

He barked out a loud laugh. You scrunched your eyebrows together in confusion.

“What?”

“Art is on the other side of school [Name].” He continued to laugh at your distress.

You frowned and thought, ‘Stupid Kairi!’

“Come on.” He waved for you to follow him as his laughter died down.

The rest of the walk was silent except for the occasional time that he would glance at you or you at him. He led you back all the way from where you started and stopped in front of a bright yellow door. Your jaw popped open as you saw the door that was next to the Art room.

“What is it?” Angeal asked.

“I have gym second block!” You cried pointing at the gym doors.

Angeal began to laugh again. He ruffled your hair with one of his hands and began to walk away.

“See you [Name]. Try not to get lost anymore.” He said.

“Bye Angeal. Thanks.” You replied with a wave as he left.

You walked into the art room and was greeted by a glare from who you assumed to be the teacher.

“Um hi. Sorry I’m late. I got lost.” You explained.

“[Name] [Surname] I presume?” She sighed.

You nodded quickly.

“I’ll excuse it today since you’re new. Take a seat.” She said turning back to what she was doing.

You saw a table filled with familiar faces and instantly took the open seat there. At the table was Namine, Yuna, KK, Paine, Olette, and Xion.

“Hey guys.” You greeted.

“What took you so long [Name]?” Tifa asked from beside the table where she was mixing paints.

“Tifa?” You said wondering what she was doing.

“I'm a teacher’s aide.” She smiled.

“So what took you so long?” Yuna asked again.

“Yeah I heard you have gym second period.” Namine added.

“Kairi tricked me.” You mumbled resting your head on your hand.

“That girl is-” KK began but Xion cut her off, “Evil!”

The teacher gave her outburst a glare and in response Xion set her head down.

You chuckled.

“She’s like that at work too. She thinks she’s the greatest thing since sliced toast.” Yuna sighed

You giggled at her comment until you realized what she said, “She works at Around the Worlds too!?”

Yuna nodded, “So does Axel.”

You were about to comment when the teacher glared again at your table.

Angeal walked down the halls away from you. He was heading back towards the office where paperwork was beckoning for him to file them. He walked through the doors and sat at the desk set out for him. Angeal thought about how he didn’t say a word to you during the walk. He rolled his eyes and grabbed a stack of files.

‘I'm a moron.’ He thought.

“Hey Cloud!” Yuffie bounced towards the blonde male.

“Yuffie?” He asked, “Where’s [Name]?”

Yuffie pointed back to the bleachers where you sat by Riku.

She smirked and said in a matter-of-fact tone, “They’re dating.”

“What?!” Cloud asked rather loudly.

Yuffie nodded, “Duh! Have you ever seen Riku talk to any girl other than Namine, Xion or Olette?”

Cloud shook his head, “They aren’t dating. She just got here for crying out loud Yuff.”

Cloud let out a sigh.

“What?” Yuffie asked.

“She JUST got here and look at how many guys like her already.” He said.

“So?” Yuffie shrugged.

Cloud glared at Yuffie then turned to look at you.

He murmured, “She reminds me of her Yuffie, and that makes her my responsibility. I'm not going to let her get hurt.”

Yuffie’s eyes widened and she turned to look at you too, “Really?!”

Cloud nodded his head slowly as the bell began to ring.

Riku sighed and walked towards his third period.

‘She probably thinks I'm weird.’ Riku thought with a sigh.

He walked by a group of girls. They giggled as he passed and waved at him with flashy grins and flirting eyes. He ignored them and continued to walk while deep in his thoughts.

‘Why is it so hard to talk to her?’ He asked himself.

He shook his head and caught a glimpse of you with Kairi.

“I can’t do that to Sora.” He murmured quietly.

Kairi sat in her seat and started to giggle as the bell rang.

“What is it Kairi?” Sora asked from his seat in front of her.

“I just tricked that new girl [Name] into thinking Art was in the west wing!” She cackled.

“Kairi that’s horrible!” Sora cried with a distraught look upon his face.

“Take it easy sexy.” She scoffed then winked at him.

Sora’s face twisted with disgust before he turned back around to face the front. His mind traveled to you. He smiled and sighed leaning forward in his desk.

‘I hope she makes it to class alright.’ He thought.
