THE DELIVERY

"Oh God!!! Lois! It hurts so much, badly" Davina screamed as a mixture of sweat and tears flowed down her face and cheeks.

"Calm down Davina, take a deep breath. Inhale...." I breathed in "and exhale" I breathed out.

"Arggggh!!" She clutched her stomach in pains once more, screaming louder this time.

I put my hand on her stomach, trying to know the situation at hand. Her stomach was as hard as ever.

"will she be okay Lois?" a worried Mr olsen asked. He ran to the gazebo, where Davina and I were immediately he heard her scream, accompanied with a curious looking Oliver behind.

"She will be, she's just having major contractions." I replied calmly as possible. We couldn't get him more agitated now. He should be strong for Davina.

"We need to get to the hospital ASAP" Gabriel said.

"It will take two hours to get them to the hospital. I'm not sure she could make it till then. What's the time?" I asked.

"It's 11:50 already" Gabriel replied looking at his wrist watch.

"Her water already broke, we don't have enough time to get to the hospital"

"So what's gonna happen Lois?

Oliver, who had been quiet finally spoke up.

"What's gonna happen?...I will conduct the delivery. Now!!"

"What!!?" Gabriel was clearly confused and dumbfounded.

"You guys should take her to her room quickly" They immediately went into action, as Davina kept groaning in pains. I followed them behind.

"Shit!" I yelled silently as I tried running behind them, with my long gown giving a heck of an obstruction. We finally got to the room and I sighted a reading table at the corner of the wide room. I'd be large enough to contain Davina.

I clearly everything on the table to the floor in an instant, and asked them to place her on the table.

"Gabriel, please get me a hand sanitizer"

"Alright" he walked towards a door in the room, I assumed would lead into the bathroom.

"Is there a laboratory store around? Because I need some materials."

"Yeah there is, about ten minutes walk" Gabriel replied as he gave me the sanitizer.

"Oh then, perfecto." I looked down, picked a jotter and pen I threw to floor while clearing the table, and scribbled down some materials.

"Quickly get me these things. Go with a car if it makes you faster."

"Okay" he ran out, whilst yelling.

*******15 minites later******

"Yeah, I'm back"

"wonderful" I said as I removed my intertwined hand from Davina, who almost pulled out my hand, due to pain

"Please, look around for a towel, some disinfectants to sterilize the tools and Uhhhmmm... A bottle of oil."

"What kind of oil?"

"Olive oil, baby oil..... Anything mild"

"Alright, I would be right back"

"Lois, is there anything I can do to assist?" Oliver asked after Gabriel walked out.

"No...... Yes, yes. I mean, I forgot to tell him that I need a bowel"

"A bowel, okay..., a bowel. I'll get it now"

"Christ!!!, please could you stop standing there and staring at me, and go get the bowel"

"yeah..... Yes, yes. Sure"

******************************

"Come on Davina, push!!" I constantly repeated as I urged Oliver to keep on doing the rotatory push movements on her stomach. I could see the head of the baby now.

Gabriel was holding her hand as he encouraged her whilst saying sweet nothings to her. Oliver was kind of.... An assistant as he readily brought any tool I asked for. I could clearly see, he was horrified and felt sorry for Davina's pain.

"Push now! just a little more effort. You are almost there"

Soon a bigger part of the head was out. I turned head which was already coming downwards, sideways, in order to capacitate its shoulders to easily come out, and soon. I gently pulled until the whole body was out. Davina slumped down to the table for rest.

It was a boy. After some seconds of shock on Gabriel's face, the little babe sought his father's attention with a loud cry that echoed throughout the room.

I could hear Oliver exhale. Gabriel's face contorted from shock to awe and then to complete happiness.

"Davina dear, it's a boy. A really cute dude" she broke into tears. She was so happy. Joy of motherhood.

"Can I hold my baby?"

"Not yet, latest Mom in USA. He needs to be cleaned up.

"Oh, my love, you've made me so happy. I love you so much baby." I simply watched as Gabriel kissed his wife's face as he sweetly spoke to her.

I took one of my forceps, as I gently rolled the placenta out of Davina's womb. I felt her stomach and it was softer now. She looked really stressed out.

I cleaned up the little boy with the oil and towel. Gabriel gave me some of its clothes. I quickly changed him into it and wrapped him up in his small blanket, and handed him over to his mom.

"Here you go Davina"

"Come over here little Gabriel. Mommy loves you so much. Oh he's so handsome" Davina said as she held her baby so close.

"well, with a handsome Papa like me, what do you expect?" Gabriel said grinning from ear to ear.

I quickly had everywhere cleaned up.

"And you guys guess what?" I said.

"What!?" They all chorused.

"Mother and son are automatically almost birthday mates. The time is 1:30 am.

"yeaaaah!"

"Yeeaah true." Oliver chuckled lightly"Please can I hold the baby Davina?"

"Yes of course" She said as she handed over the baby to Oliver.

"He is so cute...... Has wonderful blue eyes, just like someone one I know." He turned to look at me.

He started burping little Gabriel and chanting incoherent stuffs. For once I put aside my constant bickering with him. I could see a caring and loving father. He just looked so perfect with that baby in his arms.

"Here you go" He cooed as he returned the little one into his mother's arms after minutes of admiring him.

"Well, Gabriel, I think it's our cue to leave now. It's already too late."

"Come on, don't stress yourself that much buddy. You guys can sleep over. There's no qualms" Gabriel replied.

"Yeah, Gabriel, had it been only me who attended the party, then I would consider sleeping over, but I came with my wife and she has to leave early for work tomorrow. I really appreciate the kind gesture" Oliver gave me that look that says 'say something, come on, will you?'

"Actually Gabriel, Oliver is right. We can't spend the night here"

"Alright, alright. You win. But just know that I'm sincerely grateful for this, Lois."

"Thanks Gabriel. And also, thank you for trusting in me. I mean, it's not any husband that will allow his pregnant wife, to be delivered of her child, by some client's wife. Thank you really, for entrusting me with the safety of your wife."

"So Mrs Gabriel, we'll be taking our leave now." Oliver said, while he picked up his phone from the bed.

"Thank you Oliver. You really have a good wife. She's pretty, polite, smart and also kind. You've gotta always do her right. And Davina is okay. Call me Davina." She smiled wider

I couldn't help but feel somehow sombre as Davina talked on about me being a good wife and all. Oh! if only she knows the real story. I could also notice Oliver's face turned pale.

"Okay, Good night Gabriel and Davina" I said as I walked over and pecked her on the cheek. Then I touched the cheek of the baby. "Little G. make sure you don't trouble mommy, alright? Have a sweet night dearie."

I looked towards Oliver, It was as if I was expecting him to say something and he did.

"Come on, honey. Let's go home." He took hold of my hand, and I had no other choice than to comply and act like the sweetest wife"

"Sure, my love" I replied. I could tell he was suprised, but still tried to appear stoic. He could really be an ass atimes.
