Challenge Between Rivals

Serena was a kind young woman with a cheerful personality. She seemed good at dealing with people, which was a necessary skill in serving restaurant customers. She was also eager to learn and start her first day at work.

"She seems a lot more competent than that brat outside," Quin scoffed as he stood near the door of Marnthe's office, making sure no one was listening behind it.

Marnthe, Quin and Tia let Serena go home after the interview. The young woman surprisingly asked if she could stay and observe how things were done in the lunch service instead, so she was allowed to stay with Geale at the bar.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that last bit you said," Marnthe muttered.

"She does seem like a nice girl. She's polite. She's courteous. She arrived fifteen minutes before her scheduled interview," Tia said, enumerating the good things about Serena.

"But she can potentially upset people with her…opinions," Quin whispered
