When real life divorce and loneliness becomes a fairy tale after a chance encounter with a movie star, Pearl’s life turns into a love triangle she wasn’t prepared for. Rock stardom and romance and getting a second chance at life and love means everything.
Pearl was silent for a moment. She took everything in that Sebastian had said. She was abhorrent to marriage now. She looked back at all the previous proposals and shit she went through because of them. No. Not this time. This time she was in control. She motioned Sebastian to stand up. He did as she commanded and looked at her, his eyes trying to read hers.
She is saying no, my god she is, He thought to himself, feeling crushed. He understood and nodded. "I'm still going to do all of those things. I'm still going to love you and protect you, always." He said. He placed the necklace back on the bedside table and turned toward the door.
"Bash." Pearl said. He turned around and saw her, kneeling before him, bowing and holding out the necklace.
"Ye are Blood of my Blood, and Bone of my Bone.
I give ye my Body, that we Two might be One.
I give ye my Spirit, 'til our Life shall be Done.
You cannot possess me for I belong to myself
But while we both wish it, I give you that which is mine to give
You cannon command me, for I am a free person
But I shall serve you in those ways you require
and the honeycomb will taste sweeter coming from my hand."
She said. He looked down at her, in complete shock.
"Marry me. Not because you asked or felt the need to ask. Marry me because you know it is your destiny to be my husband and my king. Marry me because I am the mother of your child and you find me worthy enough to give you more children. Because I can protect you and you can protect me. Because you fell in love with me at first sight, and I, you. Because you can't imagine a life without me. I will let you court me and show me love and affection and respect for the rest of my life, I swear it. And I will do the same for you. Marry me because the ones who asked before pale in your light and you are good enough to prove them all feeble and unworthy men. Marry me not because you think I want to hear it or need it, but because you can't imagine a life without me. Marry me because you touch me like it's agony not to. We may have to rush this a bit but I promise you, I will give you everything you will ever need. Or die trying. Because you are my best mate. My savior. My world. But most of all, marry me because even though I have given you these reasons, you never needed one. Marry me, my Scottish knight. My Lancelot." She said. "I cannot let you do this without me. And I don't want to, either. I'm saying when."
He picked her up and pulled her into his arms.
"Fuck yes I will." He said, kissing her. "My god, I love you." He was bawling. "That was the most beautiful moment of my life. I love you. I love you so much."
"And I, you." She said.
"You're wearing the necklace, though." He said, wiping his eyes and putting it on her. She smiled and hugged him again.
"Come, let's get Auggie and finish this." He said.
