Chapter 9

The woman turned her head over her shoulder to check if the young lady was still chasing after her. Unfortunately, she saw that the young lady was coming after her.

The woman retained her eyes back to the running track. "She's Crazy! Why is she chasing me! How come I met her today?!" The woman wailed.

"Stop chasing me! Don't come after me! Must you come after me?" The woman begged wearily which had her stopped running as she felt her chest tighten up and out of breath after a long run.

Kaylee sped up and took a route between the street lamps, holding its brake in front of the woman on the lane whose head was hung down and breathing desperately.

"Why did you appear again? Can't you let it be?" The woman said under her breathe.

Kaylee swiftly climbed down from the cargo bike. She grabbed the woman's hand vigorously. "I have finally seen you after a year of your disappearance with my money. Where is my money?" Kaylee questioned fiercely.

"W-what are you saying? I don't even know you. Y-you got the wrong person, Miss." The woman stuttered and denied it at the same time.

Kaylee scoffed in disbelief at the pretentious act of the woman. "No, I got the right person. You are the fake Shamanka from the temple. It was because of you that I went bankrupt. I have to report to the cops before you dry other people's wallets."

"Please, Miss. You don't have to go this far. It wasn't my fault you went bankrupt. I was also a victim of their scam. Please don't call the cops." The woman begged.

Kaylee looked away from her innocent eyes not wanting to fall for it again. She stuffed her hand into her sweater pocket, brought out her cell phone, and dialed three-digit numbers to call the cops as it was going through.

When the woman saw how serious Kaylee was and what would become of her if she was eventually arrested. At this moment she started thinking about what step to take.

"Hello. I have a report to make. There has been-" Kaylee didn't get to complete her report when she caught a glimpse of the woman acting dizzy. She hung up the call instantly. "Are you okay Shamanka? Hey! Are you listening to me? Are you okay!?" Kaylee sounded anxious.

The woman was about to collapse when Kaylee was fast to catch the woman in her arms.

"Shamanka! Shamanka! Hey, don't get me scared! I didn't do anything to you!"

Without any suspicious thoughts, Kaylee got anxious and scared since the woman in her arms appeared real as if she was going to leave this world at the next minute.

Acknowledging, the consequences of someone passing away in her arms would only land her in jail and had no one to bail her. Kaylee's eyes, which concealed fear, couldn't stop scorching around the people on the street.

"Hey! Please help! I have to take her to the hospital! Please help me!" Kaylee called to the people for help who didn't mind to check out what was happening.

"Please, Help me!" She looked away from the passers-by when no one wanted to help her out. "Shamanka, are you listening?" Kaylee shook the woman's body vigorously, hoping she would open her eyes.

Kaylee felt the fear in her heart lifted and her fearful eyes glimmered in relief when she noticed the woman's eyes were now open.

"Yes, I have been listening to you all this while. Thanks." As the words left the woman's mouth, she jolted away from Kaylee's arm and pushed the young lady away not minding if the young lady would get hurt from it.

Kaylee fell on the cargo bike and everything smashed to the ground. Seeing the boc wrapped ribbon box smashed on the ground.

"Oh no! The cake is now ruined! What will Mom use for her birthday tonight?" Kaylee twisted her face in disappointment.

"That woman...!" Kaylee growled as she turned around in the direction where the woman ran to but she couldn't see the trace of her.

Fixing her gaze back on the cargo bike, Kaylee noticed the packaged boxes were now on the ground which had the parcels scattered on the street.

Kaylee was supposed to deliver the parcels in the town within three hours. She was required to return within those hours to report the day's delivery but now it seemed she had spent thirty minutes already chasing the woman.

Thinking about the wasted time, Kaylee looked like she was going to lose another job since her boss was strict and dealt with time. She squatted down before the parcels, wiped off the sweat on her face, and then started picking them up one after the other.

"Hello, Has the airplane landed?" A calm voice questioned as he was on call while stepping out from one of the shopping malls close to the scene.

"No Sir, that will be in the next six hours." The person answered over the phone.

"Alright, thanks for the information." The young man hung up the call and put his cell phone into his trousers pocket.

The young man opened the small surprise bag in his hands and took a glance at the tiny wrapped box.

"I know she will like this! It's been a long time." He said assuredly with a smile that graced his lips, raising his gaze.

Taking some steps further from the shopping mall, Noah stopped in his tracks as he saw the squatted figure who was trying to gather the parcels.

Still squatted down, Kaylee moved to the spoiled chocolate cake. It was supposed to be a surprise cake. Seeing dirt on the cake, she became sad. Though, she could not leave the spoiled cake in the street so she thought to thrash it herself and get another cake on her way. She picked up the ruined cake and put it again into the small box as she dropped the cake in the cargo's bike front reek.

"Hey, do you need help?"

Hearing the sudden calm voice beside her, Kaylee turned a little startled as she swiftly turned her head, lifting her eyes to the handsome young man.

His spotless face had small double eyelids, a bridged nose, and cherry lips. His short hair draped on his forehead, trying to hide his dark eyebrows and eyes making his facial expression look younger than his age while he was dressed in a white shirt tucked into his gray trouser.

Kaylee thought his help would keep time on her side since there were hundreds of parcels on the ground to be gathered.

"Sure." Kaylee nodded.

Noah joined the young lady as they gathered the parcels in a short time. Noah helped her to put the box in the back reek tightly so as not to fall off again.

"Thank you, Mister." Kaylee bowed slightly and then raised her gaze.

Noah felt a bit embarrassed how the young lady addressed him as a slight smile curled his lips. "It's nothing. I'm happy I could be of help to you."

Kaylee raised an eyebrow and shrugged slightly at the good stranger who appeared out of nowhere and was just happy to help her out, unlike others who played blind while watching her gathered the parcels alone.

"I'm still thankful. I will leave now and we will meet next time if fate decides." Kaylee said, smiling warmly at him.

Kaylee moved from her spot to the cargo bike and hopped on it, she fixed her helmet properly again, ready to zoom off. However, she didn't start the engine when she heard him saying.

"You got a on your knee."

Kaylee lowered her eyes on her body and found out s minor bruise on her knee.

At first, Kaylee couldn't feel the pain from the bruise since her mind was on the ruined cake which had her mood spoiled too. But now, she could feel the pain.

Kaylee chuckled in humor. "Oh this, don't need to worry I'm fine. It's just a minor bruise." She looked away from him with a smile and was about to ride off when he heard him asking.

"Can you continue with that? I think you have to treat it first before it gets infected." His eyes glittered with worries which were fixed on the young lady.

Kaylee was stunned and dumbstruck at the strange act of the young man who was so worried about a lady he barely knew. Squinting her eyes at Noah, trying to comprehend him she went blank at the end in a short time.

"Yes I can. You shouldn't stress yourself about it. I will attend to it once I get home. I think I have to leave now before I will be scolded." Kaylee said as she started the bike and rode off before the young man could say anything again.

Noah raised his hand to stop the young lady but she had already ridden so far from him that she wouldn't be able to hear him if he told her to stop.

He wanted to ask for her name but she didn't give him a chance. The young lady was right about fate deciding to let them cross paths again so he had to wait till then, Noah thought.

Noah moved from his tracks when he remembered he had to be somewhere.
