Stardust in my Head

This is a collection of poems written when I feel outbursts of different emotions and feelings. Put under sci-fi due to web novel's rigid genre system and my repeated use of space in past poems.

Is This What Love Means?

It has been too long since I posted and normally that would be a good thing. That feeling of being a spectator to my own action that nothing is real because I'm not really me, has come back with a vengeance. I wrote this poem in response to a very personal talk I had with a friend. Enjoy the poem.

(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)(〃ー〃)

So there I was, sitting on the roof of my childhood home,
Knowing it's the only place I truly feel alone.
But you were right beside me staring at your phone,
Your hash-heavy breath fighting my cologne.

As I looked up to the sky I saw a world where I could truly be,
Next to you, not alone with only me.
Can we put the past behind us, I can't get left behind,
Just this once even if you're blind, the truth I'll help you find.

When I look at you, I remember the happy us, lost in time,
For each other, we gave up our whole lives.
I can't even pretend to care anymore, cutting's not sublime,
When you ask about the scars my hands still hold the knives

Hold you for a second just before you go to leave,
Was it always love or was it make believe.
Tell me the truth, now that I've got nothing left to fear,
Choose wrong and my life will disappear.

Is this what love means?
Holding onto obsessions, stuck high in daydreams?
