Brutality on a new level

As the fifteen people prepared to go on their journey into town, Ghost talked to the folks staying behind.

"Listen up, once the sun goes down switch from the campfire to the heater lanterns, the last thing we need is for the military to find us here. Sadie will be in charge of dinner service. Until the away team and I return, we will ration all food and there will be no drinking. Not until we can confirm that they are far enough away that they pose no immediate threat to us, also, there will be no cars in or out except for the away team. We know you have friends you'd like us to rescue, but we can't get everyone on our first run."

The crowd nods as they are dismissed and form a line for dinner. The Ghost makes his way back to the away team as they load up into the few trucks they had to head over to Ottawa.

"Radio check."

"Cody's truck, Check."

"Tyler's truck, Check."

"Ghost's radio, Check."

"Overlord's radio, Check."

"Hidden Paradise Homebase, Check."

"Alright, let's move!"

The guards open the makeshift gates and let the trucks out.

"This is the Ghost, listen up, under no circumstances are these radios to be captured. If you are caught and have a radio, smash it and shot it. Pat, once we are close to town, have Tyler turn off his truck lights."

"Gotcha. Now everyone, this is Overlord, we will be using the codenames we discussed during our meeting, aside from that, we'll be inserting into Natplate, then working our way into Ottawa. The trucks will remain hidden in the trees near Pilkington. There are two teams, Team Overlord and Team Ghost. You've been assigned to them already. Remember, stick close and only call on the radio of necessary. "

As the trucks approach Natplate, fires rage and the place seems like a ghost town. Once they parked up, the two teams made their way into the outskirts of Westside Ottawa. They make their way down Illinois Avenue, until they come to a familiar house. The Ghost and Overlord make their way up to it and find their local Anheuser-Busch fiend.

"If it was anyone but you two, I'd have shot y'all. What are y'all doing here?"

"Good to see you RJ. We're here gathering people and supplies."

"Count me in."

"Good, Getaways come in, we have a friendly with a truck and ammunition headed your way, we'll radio in once we get into town fully. Go to Pilkington, in the shrubs and trees you'll wait with the other two trucks."

"Alright."

"Good to have you on our side Busch Hunter."

"Glad to be." he said as he hopped into his truck fully loaded with ammunition, guns, and food."

Overlord signaled for the others to push forward into to town, sticking to alleyways and dark streets.

As they push up the street, they eventually arrive at Tone's Cone's, once a luxury pastime place to get all sorts of tasty Ice creams, now the last of the unpatrolled area of Ottawa. Overlord signaled for Ghost to take the lead. The two teams pushed up to the IVCC's Ottawa Campus only to see its smoldering ruins. From here, the teams split up. Ghost and his squad were to investigate closer to the Roxy Theater, while Overlord and his Squad were to investigate Lots.

As Overlord moved towards lots, he noticed the old train bridge midsection had been lowered, and he made a mental note of that. As he and his team continued, the sounds of people began to rise. The occasional gunshot has was also heard the closer they got to lots. Bash pointed across the river at Allen Park. It seemed that the Military had established some kind of prison camp there. Allen Park had three ways in: The old sledding hill, the road entrance, and the train bridge. The Sledding Hill was heavily guarded by tanks and other soldiers, same with the road entryway from what Overlord could see through the binoculars he'd brought. However, the train bridge wasn't guarded.

"Radio the Ghost, tell him to get over here."

A few minutes passed before the Ghost and the others arrived."

"Seems they've established a prison camp across the river."

"Yea, but they left the train bridge unguarded, we can slip across the bridge, then make our way back here."

"If there's any hope of finding our friends, this will be it. Homebase, we are going radio silent for the time being, we can't afford any noise on this part of our mission, we will contact you. Ghost and Overlord out."

The group back tracked to the entry point where the bridge met the land. The Ghost and Overlord had most of their men stay on their side of the bridge as they make their way carefully and quietly across.

"Once we're there, we make contact with someone within the camp and start pulling our friends out. I'll repel down using the Bungie cord the Ghost gave me, and we'll climb back up using the rope the Ghost brought. Got it?" whispered Overlord

The others nod and begin crossing the train bridge. Once they arrive in position, Overlord repels down hidden by the few alert prisoners nearby.

"Pat, how did you?" asked Luke

"No time, gather the lots crew here, we're getting you out."

Luke nods and gathers the others. The rope slowly descends down to them as the other prisoners get ready to climb up.

"Chas come on, we gotta go!" whispered Jaiden

"They've got Tre, we can't leave him."

"Climb up there, I'll get him." said Pat

As Chas climbed up the rope, Tre was brought into the center of the camp. the other prisoners gathered nearby to watch. Tre watched as Pat climbed the rope and motioned for him to follow, but Tre shook his head and looked down. A creature emerged from the tent and decapitated him. The others covered Chas' mouth as his body fell limp onto the ground. The group quietly slipped away as horrified by what they saw.
