28 July, 2013. 9:00.

The bedroom of Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson, and Felicia Hardy.

Peter Benjamin Parker.

Slowly opening my eyes after a sweet dream.

What was it, a stormy night, the key to a good morning, right?

I look around the bed and realise, to my surprise, that I'm alone in it.

"In case you suddenly lost your females, Bearer, the lusty one woke up before everyone else and went to work, and the pregnant one left your bed in about half an hour and should be in the hall now," the symbiote whispered.

Something about the Clintarian had become painfully insufferable lately.

"Listen, Raj, are you all right?"

"Why do you ask, Peter?" - The alien grumbled unhappily.

"It's just that you've been kind of....sharp lately."

"Oh, I apologise, Bearer, I guess I'll just shut up then," replied the alien unhappily.

"Come on bro, are you really offended?"

And there was silence in response.

"Raj? RAJ!"

Zero response.

"Sulk."

A sulky little girl, too.

I snort and put on a t-shirt and some house shorts.

I walk out into the hall and see MJ sitting in the kitchen eating her cereal.

- Morning, Red," I walk over and kiss my favourite on the cheek.

- Morning, Tiger, how did you sleep?

- Fine," I walk over to the fridge, "and you?

- I couldn't sleep better, - the redhead sniggered, - Kitten's tongue works wonders, after which you sleep like a dead man.

- You don't have to tell me," I snorted, taking out the milk.

- What are your plans for today? - green-eyed girl asks, playing with a tablespoon.

- You know, I was planning to spend the whole day studying some literature, but you reminded me of a case.

I get up from my chair and go into the bedroom.

Dig out my spider mask and put it on.

- Calling Steve Rogers, voice command and it starts ringing.

I switch on the vocoder for fun.

- Hello? - I hear the blond man's cheerful voice.

- You're still in the habit of getting up early, aren't you, Steve?

- A useful endeavour," the Freedom Guardian's voice became serious and focused. - Who is this and how did you get this number?

- Seriously, didn't recognise your old friend? - I continued with the same "brutal bass".

- Who are you?" the soldier's tone was ringing with tension.

- I'm Batman.

- Who?

I couldn't help but laugh.

- Seriously, Steve, don't you ever look at the screen when you get a call? - I ask in a cheerful tone, switching off the voice modulator.

- Peter? What the hell is wrong with you, you little punk? - Rogers gave me his trademark Rogers reprimand.

- Who's to blame if you don't rename your contacts?

- I'm not used to it, you know, - said the captain, - and this number has at most a dozen people.

- It will be a lesson to you, - I hum, - are you busy today?

- Just two days ago I got back from the Strike Squad operation, so you're lucky, I'm free as the wind.

- That's great, how about a training session today?

- Ahead of our schedule? - Cap stretched out interestedly.

- Well, you know, Steve, because of my forced holiday I've had to move the training up.

- Okay, but can we do it later tonight?

- No problem, I've got some business to take care of, I'll see you then.

- See you later," Rogers hangs up.

I'm dialling Tony's number right now.

I put the modulator back on.

- On the phone," comes the voice of a billionaire, a genius, and so on down the list.

- I'm your father, Luke.

- Okay, Lord Vader, I get it, knock it off," Stark rolled his eyes reassuringly.

- Nah, Tony, that's the only way we communicate now," I muttered with a smile.

- Are you kidding me?

- Nope. In fact, you asked me to send you the address for the rucksack delivery, are you ready to receive it?

- Always ready.

- Then get it, pioneer," I give you Cap's flat address.

- "Got it," Tony confirmed, "but what's that got to do with these communist schoolboys?

- Forget it," I rolled my eyes, "can you be there by 7:00?

- Yeah, no problem, but I'd rather fly in, if you know what I mean.

- Can't wait to wear your armour?

- I built the Mark 6.

- You're hocking your Pinocchios like Papa Carlo," I say respectfully and ironically.

- I'll take that as a compliment.

- Keep him on the line till tonight. Just call me before you get in the building.

- You got it. I'll see you later.

End of call.

All right, now it's time to take care of business.

I take off my mask and walk out into the hall, where MJ's still in the kitchen finishing his cereal.

- You got any sudden business to take care of? - The green-eyed girl asks.

- Made appointments for tonight.

I walk over to the girl and squat down so we're on the same level.

- And what were your plans for today, Carrot-top?

- Not really any, - the girl hugs me by the neck, - I planned to stay at home, to watch serials.

- That's good.

Sigh.

- That's good.

- Tiger?

- Do you remember yesterday when I so rudely interrupted an important conversation that was about to start?

- When you were very insistent on sending me to Fey's shower and making a sexy diversion? I remember, I remember," Mary jokes.

- Well, I'd like to continue it," I say, laughing off MJ's teasing.

- Okay, go ahead," the redhead nods calmly.

I lift the redhead off the chair in one motion and carry her to the couch.

- That was sweet, my knight.

- All for my princess.

- If I remember correctly, you were talking about how worried you were about the safety of me and the baby, right? - M.J. clarifies, ruffling my hair.

- And promised a means of insurance," I rise from the couch, "Hold on a second.

The redhead just nods.

I step back to my mini lab and this time the serum is in place.

I take a flask, some syringes, cotton wool, alcohol wipes and go back to my girl.

- Shall we play doctor? - asks Carrot-top with excitement in her voice.

- Alas, not in that sense, - I smirk and show the girl a flask. - Do you remember how they told us in history class that Captain America, a true patriot of his country, agreed to participate in a risky experiment of Dr Abraham Erskine, where they used a special compound on him so that he could get unprecedented abilities?

- I remember everything," the redhead nodded in confirmation.

- What happened to the doctor and the super soldier programme?

- Dr Erskine was killed, and the project was frozen, because the formula was considered lost," she said, never one to skip history. - But why do you bring that up, Tiger?

- I reconstructed Dr Erskine's research," I played the flask again in front of my girlfriend's emerald eyes.

- You recreated the super soldier serum? - MJ asked in shock.

- And more than that, I supplemented it with an extract of spider powers from a sample of my own DNA," I chuckle at the way the redhead's mouth opens.

- Wait, so this," I poked my finger tentatively at the vial, "can make anyone the new Captain America with a free deluxe enhancement in the form of your own powers?

- First of all, I'd say it's Cap's powers that go in addition to mine," I answer with a slightly hurt pride, "and secondly, not anyone, but you, Carrot-top, I created it especially for you and adjusted it only for your genetic code," I say softly.

- Me?" Mary asked in disbelief.

- I told you I would do anything to keep you safe, didn't I? - I put my palm on my girlfriend's stomach. - Absolutely everything, I don't mince words.

- It won't hurt the baby, will it? - MJ tensely clarifies, mirroring my gesture and placing her palm on top of mine.

- There's a hundred per cent chance the serum won't harm you or the baby, as tested by our alien specialist.

- Will it work?

- Seventy per cent probability," I explain in a slightly more neutral tone. - But the question is, are you willing to take the risk?

- How will I change? - Carrot-top asked with inexpressible anticipation.

- You'll be in peak human shape, your immune system will improve, and it'll be harder for you to catch a cold," I said jokingly. - The spider abilities will amplify whatever the eternity formula gives you and smooth out your body's reactions. You'll have an amazing sense of balance, and you'll learn to stick to surfaces, but I'm afraid Spider Sense won't kick in, and neither will the rest of your enhanced Spider powers. It's too dangerous.

- I get it," MJ nods concentratingly.

- What's your decision?

We are silent for a while.

- Go, Tiger," Mary announces cheerfully, but with carefully concealed excitement.

- Whatever you say, Carrot-top," I smile softly.

I prepare the syringes and administer the first dose of Parker's Serum.

- For it to work, you need to inject two doses, two hours apart," I say, and as soon as I see that the redhead nodded, I inject the drug.

- And, of course, I'll stay with you, - I hold the girl to me after the first dose, - did you say something about soap operas?

*

Six hours later.

Mary Jane and I spent the day in front of the telly, in each other's arms.

Lost is overrated, dumped after season three.

The Clinic is a masterpiece.

I administered the second dose of serum, as I was supposed to, two hours later, and then watched MJ's condition closely, but in four hours, other than drowsiness, there were no side effects and I was reassured. If nothing else had manifested, it wouldn't.

At this point, the serum was integrated into MJ's cells, and it would be another three days before the powers themselves awakened.

I noticed that Mary had fallen asleep, and Felicia had just returned from work.

- Hi," the blonde said quietly, closing the door gently behind her.

- Hi, - I put a pillow under Carrot's head and smoothly laid the girl on the couch, standing up from the piece of furniture.

- Is our girl tired? - Fey asks with a smile.

- Yes, exhausted, - I duplicate with a smile and look fondly at the mother of my future child. - Kitten, I understand, you're from work, but I have to run on business and Mary.....

I don't have time to finish, because Black Cat comes up and kisses me.

- Run along, Spidey, and I'll keep an eye on you.

- I love you," I repeat our sensual kiss.

- Tell me that more often, sweetie.

- I will.

I kiss Felicia goodbye again and, grabbing my backpack and suit, run out of the house.

Pulling myself up, I walk out onto the roof.

"Okay, Raj, suit me!"

But there was no response from the symbiote.

"Are you serious?"

Ignore. Total ignore.

"We'll talk about this later."

I open my rucksack and put on my Perfect Suit.

I put on my double ring and with a wave of my hand, I open a portal, right on the roof of Cap's house, across from the gym building.

On a side note, buy Stefan a muffin basket, this artefact is the best fit ever.

Now we can't be late! The main thing is not to get carried away and not to forget about flying on the spider's web.

I'll stay on the roof and call Steve.

- Yes?

- This time I decided to spare your senile nerves and not to switch on the super-voice, - I greet Rogers in my own manner.

- Room. Quickly," Cap said and dropped the call.

"I think someone's getting beaten up," Raj said in a chant.

"So now we're talking?"

Once again there was silence.

This is starting to piss me off.

In a few web shots I find myself at the entrance to a neighbouring building and go upstairs.

I walk into a nice room, though not new, but smelling old, in the best sense of the word.

In the ring, Steve's already punching an invisible opponent for two.

- Yo, shadow boxing, what's up? - waving cheerfully at Mr Living Legend.

- In the ring, now.

- Aye, aye, Captain," I run up and jump in the centre with a double somersault.

Rogers just throws me kickboxing gloves.

- Is this just a fist fight today? - I clarify, removing the double ring and stashing it in my pocket.

- Thai, French and classical boxing, that's enough for this class," the blond confirms, getting into a stance.

I don't argue with my trainer and, putting on gloves, I too adopt a boxing stance with my arms raised high.

At the same moment Cap approaches and hits me with a straight punch. I duck, but Rogers repeats the two-punch I saw earlier, which I take on the block. Steve launches another series of attacks, alternately combining elements of different fighting styles, but all of them from the boxing school. Straight punches, jabs, uppercuts, hooks. And he's picking up the pace each time.

- You're really pissed off at the prank, aren't you? - I ask, blocking a double hook.

- Breathing," Cap says curtly.

And our martial dance resumes. I was starting to feel a little tired from the intensity of the sparring. So I decided to start responding instead of being a punching bag.

I learnt a thing or two in Shields.

I run my own combination, consisting mostly of straight lines.

At first I didn't understand why we were wearing kickboxing gloves instead of the classic boxing gloves, but when Steve did his first takedown and tried to press my face into the mat, I understood everything.

- What about boxing school? - I ask, breaking the distance.

- The cardinal rule of fighting, kid, no rules.

- It sounds a bit gopnikish, but I guess you know better," I shrugged.

Once again, I close in on my opponent, trying to grab his arm and break it. It would be easy with spider strength, but I'm trying to use only my natural musculature, even though it's already strengthened, but without specific excesses.

The Legend Man had no problem parrying my undoubtedly bold attempt and threw me over his shoulder. I turned round and pushed myself back to my original position with the palms of my hands.

- Your outstanding agility and speed are your main advantages, use them.

I wanted to say my trademark "Thanks, Cap," but I held back. So I just nodded.

Once again the picture of the fight began to emerge: strike-block, lunge-dodge and forward to a new life.

I was just starting to go into something resembling a combat trance when the masked communicator called out.

- Stop Timeout! - I folded my palms into a T, dodging the Freedom Guardian's fist.

- Let's take a break for a few minutes," Rogers nodded.

- Something tells me it's going to be a long break," I said quietly, activating the line of communication and simultaneously switching on the vocoder. - Pay attention.

- I've come to the right place, Spidey, and honestly, I'm sick of your modulator," Stark said in a rather mechanical voice.

- Then that makes two of us," I said, humming cheerfully, "go up a little higher, I'll be right out on the roof.

- Got it.

Ending the call.

- Steve, you can take off your gloves, I'm going to introduce you to someone," I said, getting rid of my own mittens.

- Who's that? - The blond arched an eyebrow.

- A descendant of an old acquaintance of yours, - I leave the hall, leaving the confused Cap alone.

I go up to the roof and find myself in the fresh air.

I lift my head and see a metallic behemoth approaching me fast.

In a true superhero landing, Stark drops to the pavement.

- Five points for style, Tony," I clap my hands.

- Glad the pros appreciate it," the billionaire smirks, lifting the face plate of his helmet.

- Okay, follow me," I motion with my hand, urging the armadillo to follow.

We descend the stairs and pass into the hall, where Rogers is sitting on a bench and drinking water, or some kind of energy cocktail.

As we approach, the blond stands up.

- So, Tony Stark, meet Steve Rogers, or Captain America, meet Iron Man, - I introduce the men to each other one by one.

- Mr Stark," Rogers holds out his palm.

- Captain," he shakes my hand.

Too bad I don't have a camera to capture the meeting of the Man from the Past and the Ever Forward-Looking Futurist, a duo destined to become some of the greatest heroes of our time. Oh, wait, there's one in disguise.

Click, click, click.

- You know, I knew your father quite well," the Guardian of Liberty began to talk.

- You did?

- It's true. During the War, Howard Stark oversaw our entire Science Department, and his genius helped us against HYDRA's technological advantage," the blond man said with a smile, clearly nostalgic for the past. - Everything I've worn on the battlefield has been designed by Howard, including," Rogers picked up the shield on the bench, "this little guy.

- Although your conversation is very nice, I have to jump in and ask the young man in the armour for something," I become the third wheel of the conversation, "a suit?

In response, Tony simply holds out to me the backpack that was dangling from his left arm, staring at the Living Legend's famous weapon.

I accept the item and examine it - a plain satchel of bright red with flecks of yellow, well, or gold, depending on the lighting.

I put on my backpack.

- How do I activate it?

- Press the bottoms of the straps at the same time and pull, - suggests the brunet.

I do as he says and at the same moment, starting from the back, my body is progressively covered with armour elements: torso, forearms, shins, hands and feet, the helmet covers my face last.

- All systems have been checked, the armour is one hundred percent ready for use," came a soft robotic female voice.

- Tony, did you build artificial intelligence into the armour as well? - I'm asking Stark.

- Not exactly, Karen is more of a guiding assistant, she's nowhere near Jarvis' level," the HF explained.

- Karen?

- You don't like it? You can call it whatever you want.

- No, Karen's a good name," I nod in affirmation. - But I still don't understand how you managed to make this armour fold into a backpack.

I inspect the armour, it looks as solid as it should be, no holes, cavities or seams, one-piece armour with an "A".

- It took a lot of work, but I got it right," the genius inventor smiled at me, "but now your armour is twelve percent nanobots, and I had to cut some things back, but it's a small price to pay.

I release three elongated golden arms from the emblem on my back and fly slightly towards the ceiling using repulsor technology.

- You've outdone yourself, Tony," I praise the futurist as soon as I land on the floor. I'll have to practise.

- Glad to be of service.

And a crazy idea pops into my head.

- Steve, lend me your shield for a second," I ask Rogers, while I remove my shin armour to retrieve the double ring.

- Um, here you go," the Captain hands me the perfect disc to throw.

- Thank you," I accept the shield, placing the ring on my left hand.

Captain America's shield is in my right hand, I'm clad head to toe in Iron Spider armour, and on my left palm is a double teleportation ring.

- Guys, somebody take a picture of me.

- Consider it done, Spidey," Stark informs me, returning the faceplate of his helmet to his face for a second.

- Okay, Tony, get a picture of me on my armour.

Oh, that's so cool.

I wish I had a symbiote as a cape on my back and a Mjolnir on my belt. Oh, you wish, Pete, you wish.

Finishing the epic moment and returning Steve's shield.

I deactivate the armour, which takes the form of a normal, albeit larger than its congeners, school/student satchel.

- Well, I delivered the package, tested the armour, I think it's time to go home," the brunet turned to the blond, "it was nice to meet you, Captain.

- Likewise, Mr Stark," the Freedom Guardian nodded.

- Just Tony," this time the billionaire extends his palm for a handshake.

- Nice to meet you, Tony," Cap replies.

- See you around, Spidey," the futurist salutes me and leaves the room.

A couple of minutes later, the brief sound of jet engines informs me that Iron Man has flown away.

- What do you think of our futurist? - I ask Rogers cheerfully.

- He looks like his father," Steve replies. - But don't think that if you get some armour you can forget about training," Steve says mockingly, tossing me the gloves, "to the ring.

- Got it," I replied with a heavy sigh.

Hopefully later, Coach will let me sweep the shield.
