Why?

While laughing bitterly, Irene wipes her own tears and gulped down the wine inside her glass. Valerie pours her glass as well as Irene's glass with champagne and clinked their glasses together.

Nobody knows how much they drank that night but after finishing the bottle of champagne given by Jerrick, they opened up another bottle of red wine.

Valerie and Irene ended up sleeping on the floor with bottles scattered around. Alcohol is sometimes the best buddy when one is feeling sad.

Irene woke up to the intense ray of the sun reaching her eyes as she squinted to adjust to the light. She turned to Valerie who lays flat on the floor.

Both of their hair are disheveled probably from all the crying they did last night. When they were already totally drunk from the alcohol, Irene remembers a glimpse of Valerie ugly crying along with her.
