Ep.4 Skill Demonstration

Once Mike was shown to the examination room he heard the woman say as she opened up a door to reveal a shooting range and a rack of weapons

"Please step inside and wait for the examiner to arrive"

Mike nodded and entered the room where he saw a table with a long staff, a short sword and a bow and a bookcase behind it that was filled with a four books with them each labeled saying

(Elvish Language book)

(Dark Elf Language book)

(Dwarf Language book)

(Beast Man language book)

Once Mike was about to reach for the books he heard a man say over the microphone

"Good morning Mr. Grant I will be your examiner today, my name is James Roose please show your spells and abilities when ever you are ready"

Mike bowed and picked up the staff and took a deep breath as he felt a tingling sensation in his chest the went to his hand as he said

"[FireBall]"

Shortly after speaking the chant a fireball the size of a watermelon flew down the shooting range and hit a scarecrow and caused it to topple over before the examiner turned on the mic and said

"Well done Mr Grant"

Mike smiled and took a deep breath as he began to focus on the fireball spell before he casted 5 more

Fireballs in quick succession and saw that the scarecrow turned to ash before he turned around and said while being slightly out of breath

"How was that?"

The examiner replied with a shocked tone in his voice

"That was very impressive, well done"

Mike smiled before he walked over to the bookshelf and grabbed the 3 books and said

"How do I demonstrate my language skills?"

The examiner said while Mike opened the dwarf language book

"Read what you can from the book the more you translate the higher your score will be"

Mike nodded and started to look at the dwarf book before seeing that there wasn't a single word he couldn't read and said

"Umm I can read everything in it, would you like for me to read it out loud?"

The examiner hastily replied while a red dot appeared on the camera to show that it was recording Mike

"Please do"

Mike nodded and started to translate the words perfectly till he finished the last page and said as he closed the book

"How was that translation? I also can try to translate the Elf and Dark Elf books"

The examiner turned on the mic and said while stuttering a little

"P-Please w-wait a moment"

Mike waited for what seemed like an hour while casting his fireballs at the remaining three scarecrows till they were ash to before Mike heard the examiner say

"Mr.Grant we're ready for your translation now, please go at your own pace"

Mike thought to himself before he started translating the Elvish book's perfectly fine

'We're ready'? are there more people watching?'

After about 30 minutes Mike finished with the translation on the final page of the Dark Elf language book and said

"That's both books translated, how was it?"

However the door that mike had entered through was opened and a women with blue hair wearing a red tracksuit came through clapping as she said to Mike

"Well done Mr.Grant and congratulations as you are the only applicant to translate these books perfectly"

Mike placed himself on the opposite end of the table from the lady as he said

"Thank you"

The lady giggled before placing a document on the table and slid it over to Mike before saying

"My name is Aylin Roose I am vice chairman of the hunters initiative"

Mike quick bow and said

"Good evening ma'am"

Aylin said as she leaned on the table and pointed at the document that she passed to Mike

"That is a contract for translation of dungeon artifacts or other items that may needed to be translated, now you will be compensated for the work you do"

Mike stood up and looked at the document before he asked Aylin

"I was in the hospital before the emergence so I'm unfamiliar with a lot of stuff as of late since I woke up a few days ago"

Aylin pulled out her phone and said as she walked over to Mike while he kept looking at the document

"During a dungeon raid the raid group may encounter a item with runic scriptures on it that may be key to empowering a object or even a prophecy"

Mike looked at Aylin's phone to see a photo of a stone slab with some elven writing on it that Mike could understand and said as he continued to look at the contract

"So I get paid for translating these items or artifacts that a raid team might find in a dungeon?"

Aylin smiled and said after putting her phone away

"Yep, you are by far the most promising candidate for this position as it took us nearly 5 years to translate those entire books but you did it in an hour"

Mike put down the document just as Aylin passed Mike a card with a phone number on it and a hunter license with a giant letter C on the top right corner before saying

"Take the contract and think about it, call this number when your ready to give your answer and congratulations on becoming a Hunter Mr.Grant"

Mike took the cards and the contract before he said as he gave a slight bow before leaving

"Thank you ma'am"

Once Mike had left Aylin turned to the camera and said before she looked to see all four scarecrows destroyed

"Send the video to the chairmen's office, we found a good one"

James turn on the Mic and said

"Ok sis, by the way can you get some chicken for dinner tonight"

Aylin sighed and said as she balled up her fist

"Fine, but next time you buy it!"
