Soulmate - PJO

After the wars ended, Percy grew bored. The wars had ended, the gods didn't send her on quests and monsters rarely showed but. Things were meant to be perfect, exactly as she had wanted them to be. But not long after the arrival of Atlanta Bythesea, a new prophecy comes into light, a prophecy older and more dangerous than anything before. Will Percy be able place aside grudges and help the gods, or will she fall into darkness and become their demise?

Chapter 7- Say hello (2)

Percy looked up to where Chaos stood, but he wasn't there. The portal however, was still open. Percy stood and began to walk towards it. However, as she neared the spot she stood perviously, she began to hear voices.

"What do you think she'll pick if she accepts?"

The voice sounded airy and sweet, in Percy's opinion, it sounded quite nice.

"I don't know, but let's hope she agrees."

Another voice spoke, this time, it was male. It sounded familiar somehow, but Percy couldn't place it. It was deep and firm, yet there was a strange gentleness to it.

"Well let's hope for the best, right Tarty?"

"Don't call me 'Tarty'."

The man replied to the previous voice and this time, there was a strange, dark undertone to his voice which Percy immediately recognised. It caused her to freeze in her place as her fists clenched, her heart rate accelerated within the span of seconds.

Percy was sure that the term 'Tarty' was a nickname, a variant for his real name.

As Percy remembered, there were few primordials which she had the misfortune of coming across. This in particular being one of them; Tartarus, primordial of the pit.

Percy reached for the blade at her waist. If all the people through the portal were primordials, then the others who she had encountered must have been there too.

Nyx and Gaea?

With her luck, Percy was sure they would be there as well.

-Child, calm down.

Void's voice sounded in her head, the man must have sensed her distress because he seemed to have been attempting to calm her.

-They will not hurt you more than they already have.

"How can you be sure, they won't attack me the moment I step through that portal?"

Percy asked quietly enough to keep the Primordials from hearing. How could he be sure that they wouldn't hurt her again?

Attack her the moment she stepped through?

-Because, I will protect you.

The words were stated as a matter of fact.

-I won't let them hurt you.

That calmed her enough, Percy stepped closer to the portal, suppressing her emotions and spoke.

"Excuse me, Chaos?"

Percy spoke loud enough for them to hear, but not enough to startle them. Percy doubted that she succeeded in anyway as there were several shouts of surprise which sounded through the portal.

A man stepped through the portal, likely around the same age as Chaos, about 20 at best. His blue eyes had a tint of yellow in them, with pale blond hair. The man was dressed in a simple shirt and jeans. The man was naturally tanned and naturally handsome.

Percy cursed into her mind, unable to understand why deities needed to be good looking.

The man stared directly at her in terror much to Percy's confusion as she followed the man's gaze which was more specifically directed at the dagger blade which was pointed at the man's throat, or rather, pressed against it.

The man let out a high pitched scream which could have been mistaken for a little girl's and disappeared back through the portal faster than she could process.

Percy heard the others question why he screamed and as he told them, she heard as people seemed to laugh at him. Percy was able to identify the man as Aether, primordial god of light and the upper air.

Chaos stepped through as the laughter began to die down.

"So Persephone, have you made your decision?"

"Yes, lord Chaos, I have."

Percy saw the look of irritation that crossed his face as she stated the term 'lord' which was soon replaced by a look of understanding.

"I meant Percy."

He told her as he feigned a cough into his fist.

"Well, I also meant Chaos."

Percy couldn't help the smirk which crept to her lips as she heard snickers exit through the portal.

"So what is your decision?"

He asked

"I will come with you."

She told him and heard several relieved sighs and sounds which seemed to release held in breaths. Chaos, having been one of them.

"Excuse me for asking, but would the people who sighed through the portal along with you be primordials?"

The man's face quickly changed to one of surprise which worried Percy a bit. Percy wondered if she did something she shouldn't have.

"How did you...how did you hear them? Rather, how did you figure it out?"

Chaos questioned, there was a stutter in his tone at the beginning. Percy on the other hand was simply in awe.

Not even 5 minutes after having met the creator, and she already had him stuttering.

"I figured it out since someone used the term 'Tarty' to address someone, it was simple to figure out it was a nickname for 'Tartarus'. There is only one greek deity with that name so it was simple to place two and two together. "

Percy answered.

"You found out their identities with just that?"

Chaos looked at her with the same expression on his face as earlier along with what could have been a smile. Percy slowly nodded her head as she cleared her thoughts, she must have hallucinated it and slowly.

The man smiled widely as the surprise on his features quickly disappeared.

"You are much more knowledgeable than what people give you credit for, Persephone. You're perfect for both positions offered to you."

Percy scoffed as she turned her head, a small blush creeping to her cheeks due to the praise which she wasn't used to hearing often.

"Smart? It's just obvious. Anyone with two braincells to rub together can figure it out."

She eyed the man critically again, gaining hold of my emotions once again.

"It's Percy."

She told him, it really wasn't difficult to see Void in him. Even without similar facial feature, their personalities were enough to be referenced to the other.

"Only someone who wants to kill me or really dislikes me uses my real name. If you're here looking for a fight, I'm not in the mood."

Percy heard some noise coming from the still open portal.

"There is also a rather long list of people who want to kill me, so if you're here to kill me well...shoo."

Percy made a motion with her hand which seemed to tell him to leave instead of just leaving it to words and that seemed to leave the primordial a gape. Percy once again heard noise through the portal which she identified as laughter.

"I'm not here to fight you, Perse-Percy...and I'm sure you're already aware of that."

Chaos told her after a few moment to collect his thoughts and corrected himself at the end.

"What a surprise."

There was a bit of sarcasm in her tone as she muttered and than shrugged and continued as though she never had said anything.

"Well, I'm not going to believe that due to the number of powerful beings who do want me dead."

Percy told him, leaving the man stumped once more as more laughter sounded through the portal.

"Give me a moment, Percy. Just stay there, right there where you're standing. I'll be back in a moment."

As he says all that, Chaos backs up towards the Portal but he seemed to be hesitating to let her out of his sight.

Percy raised a brow before calling out.

"If you're not back under 5 minutes, I don't care what you say or offer me, I'm leaving."

That made him quicken his pace toward the portal and he quickly entered knowing well he was on a time limit.

Percy stared towards the portal in full amusement. It was fun playing with the creator of the universe without him knowing. Percy wasn't sure how he had yet to figure out what she was doing, but she was completely fine with that.
