His face hardens. Was he hurt-again? “Actually I should be the one, who must apologize. I’m sorry. I should have told everything since I met you.”

“Well, that’s it then? I guess it’s true, that we should never be escapist.” Shelly pointed out. “It might worsen the situation, instead of setting it right.”

He chuckled foolishly.

“What’s with the chuckle?” She sounded funny and surprised. She ought to know that he would find it a little, stunned considering she never talked with such maturity, guess she was growing with him!

“Guess, I was a little escapist.” He confessed. “I was afraid to tell you the truth because I thought you would never understand and…”

“…and I would not let you in my life.” She added. So it was important to him? To be with her, to support her! Then why was he in such denial?

“I guess I didn’t want to take any chances. You seem important to me that I’m ready to do whatever just to see you smile again.”
