"Here. Where are we?"
Xiao Wu's pretty face was a mixture of fear and unease as she clung to Lu Yuan's hand tightly, refusing to let go. She had never seen so many hundred-thousand-year soul beasts in one place before, and the sheer number was unnerving.
Her combat power in her human form was much weaker than before her transformation, and she felt a sense of helplessness in the face of these numerous powerful carnivorous soul beasts that had survived for hundreds of thousands of years. It was clear that even without her transformation, confronting such an overwhelming number of creatures would leave her with no option but to flee.
In the beast race, bloodline quality was of utmost importance, and this fact wasn't lost on Xiao Wu.
"Here. This is the core circle of the Star Dou Great Forest."
The voice of a proud and clear human female rang out, and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion approached gracefully on its golden flames.
Xiao Wu bowed slightly, recognizing the identity of the soul beast before her.
The Three-Eyed Golden Lion sniffed the air as if recalling the incident last time, then shook its head with a touch of disgust and commented, "I didn't expect your taste to be so bad."
Xiao Wu's face turned pale upon hearing this, as she thought about her own and Lu Yuan's identities. If she was considered food, there would be no issue, but if a pure-blooded dragon like Lu Yuan had chosen a 100,000-year-old soft-boned rabbit like her as a partner, it indeed seemed to suggest bad taste.
This line of thought continued, concluding that Lu Yuan's discernment might not be much better. However, Lu Yuan intervened by pushing aside the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's head and stepping in front of Xiao Wu. He said calmly, "I hope you'll be more careful with your words. And if you think my taste is bad, why not come out and try to refine it?"
The Three-Eyed Golden Lion's golden eyes displayed a hint of embarrassment. It was a trap, and it had walked right into it.
However, it tried to save face, stating, "You think I dare not?"
Knowing full well that it was a risky statement, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion added, "You want me to say this, don't you? I won't be fooled by you if I'm cautious."
Lu Yuan chuckled in response, his actions conveying his understanding of the situation. The Three-Eyed Golden Lion felt an itch in its paws, as if it wanted to rush forward and engage the opponent in combat immediately. Just as this impulse surged, a gentle female voice intervened with a touch of helplessness.
"Alright, stop causing trouble."
Emerging from the forest, Bi Ji revealed herself in her human form. Though not a complete transformation like Xiao Wu's, it was akin to what Xiao Wu's mother, A Rou, could achieve.
"Aunt Bi~"
Upon seeing Bi Ji, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion leaned down, seemingly showing off and acting a bit like a child seeking attention. Meanwhile, Xiao Wu watched from the side in embarrassment.
As Lu Yuan quietly commented on the atmosphere, he introduced Xiao Wu to Bi Ji, "This is Bi Ji, the leader of the Emerald Swan Clan. She has been cultivating for about 560,000 years."
Bi Ji looked slightly puzzled, certain she hadn't encountered either of them before. But upon observing the silver lines on the Three-Eyed Golden Lion's forehead and around its one eye, Bi Ji seemed to find an explanation.
Listening to Lu Yuan's introduction, Xiao Wu hastily bowed to Bi Ji. The difference in status, cultivation level, and seniority was quite stark. Even her own mother, A Rou, would yield to them in these regards.
Bi Ji, on the other hand, was indifferent to Xiao Wu's show of respect. She was the leader of the Emerald Swan Clan, and she had rescued countless soul beasts over her lifetime. If she were to remember every individual, she'd be endlessly repeating names.
Xiao Wu hesitated for a moment before gently pulling at the corner of Lu Yuan's clothes, seemingly with a hint of reluctance to speak. Lu Yuan glanced at her and playfully tapped her head, questioning, "What are you thinking?"
He admonished her with a smile, then turned to Bi Ji and asked politely, "Could you please tell me why I was invited here? Also, I hope this isn't just about asking me to stand around."
Many fierce beasts grew impatient with the audacious human speaking nonsense amongst them. However, in light of their debt of gratitude to him, they didn't dare act on their impulses.
There were distinct tiers among the soul beasts: bloodline, bloodline quality, and then cultivation level. An existence capable of commanding pure-blooded dragons would require more than just courage to challenge.
Bi Ji smiled apologetically, "Di Tian has gone to report. Please wait a moment for the esteemed guest."
Although the identity wasn't entirely clear, they had a rough idea. As a result, none of the fierce beasts dared to move, understanding that there were different echelons even among them.
Trembling with fear, Xiao Wu watched the proceedings unfold.
Listening to the leader of the Emerald Swan clan, Lu Yuan sensed that the one named "Di Tian" held a higher status than her. And yet, such a powerful entity wanted to report to an unknown one. It seemed that the waters of the Star Dou Great Forest ran deep. Why was she, a native soul beast, unaware of this?
Xiao Wu's thoughts became a jumbled mess in response to these revelations, while Lu Yuan remained clear-headed.
"Wait, you say?"
Muttering the word slowly, a faint light flashed in Lu Yuan's eyes as he let out a soft, slightly melancholic laugh. Amidst the curious gazes of the beasts, he raised his arms, not entirely sure what he was doing. Still, the beasts believed that whatever he intended, they would be able to react swiftly and subdue him.
"They invited me, so they noticed me," Lu Yuan mused. "Even though I don't know how they found me, I came for the sake of the two seniors who were kind to me. Regardless of your attitude, I have yet to fulfill my initial promise."
He continued, "I didn't say anything when I dismounted, you openly indulted my mate and I refrained from retaliating. But..."
As he spoke, ice blue and crimson light suddenly erupted, brilliant and captivating. Lu Yuan gently tapped his fists together, then turned to Xiao Wu, a smile on his lips.
"Do you remember when you asked me about my fifth soul ability? A hundred-thousand-year spirit ring typically grants two soul abilities. However, in my case, my hundred-thousand-year spirit ring equates to having just one attached ability. This soul skill is quite inconsequential, but it was bestowed by the seniors and cannot be dismissed. Today, I'm going to use this opportunity to demonstrate it."
At the end of his explanation, Lu Yuan's red hundred-thousand-year soul ring suddenly blazed with light. Scorching flames and freezing ice converged from the void, enveloping Lu Yuan's body. The two opposing forces circulated ceaselessly, forming a peculiar and colossal Yin-Yang eye that encased him.
In the next moment, the Yin-Yang eye exploded—or rather, it was forcibly opened from within. Ice blue and fiery red intertwined, and a massive dragon form emerged!
This time, the dragon's head was exposed, revealing Lu Yuan seated within its illusionary flesh and blood. He gently opened his eyes, pupils now one red and one blue, like two distinct gemstones embedded in his sockets.
Fifth soul skill: Ice Dragon King/Fire Dragon King Phantom
It consumed a quarter of his total soul power to summon the phantoms of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. These phantoms would inherit the entity's characteristics, including its appearance, soul skills, and combat abilities. Each phantom could operate independently and receive a boost from the summoner's intelligence and logic.
In other words, Lu Yuan could summon up to four Ice Dragon Kings or Fire Dragon Kings instantly, and these phantoms could fight autonomously. Moreover, each phantom's intelligence would be on par with Lu Yuan's own.
The only drawback was that their combat strength was limited by his current soul power level. In other words, the phantoms could only display combat effectiveness equivalent to a fifty-level entity and couldn't utilize his second-level god abilities.
This soul skill was almost god-like for any soul master, but for Lu Yuan, who was adept at spatial manipulation, it paled in comparison to creating two more space cuts.
The Dragon Clan was formidable, but there were greater powers—namely, spatial manipulation.
However, even though he didn't consider it his most optimal ability, it was time to put it to use. Lu Yuan descended from the sky, his resounding dragon roar echoing through the air.
In their camp, Chen Xin and Gu Rong sat up in shock. Almost simultaneously, they turned their heads to peer into the depths of the Star Dou Forest.
Soon, Lu Yuan landed and lowered his head, his twin dragon pupils sweeping across the trembling beasts. Though his strength might not be immense, his aura was pure, almost comparable to Gu Yuena's even when she was severely injured. This instilled deep fear among the beasts.
Two streams of white mist flowed from his nostrils, revealing the authenticity of the phantom. All of its characteristics were indeed inherited from the entity. Lu Yuan's gaze shifted to Bi Ji, who trembled slightly.
"Even if a dragon god himself came, would you still make me wait?" Lu Yuan spoke with an air of nonchalance. "Waiting shows respect; not waiting is only natural."
He continued, "Now, stand before me. Look into my eyes and tell me. Should I have wait any longer?"
