Ritual of Inheritance

"The Ritual of Inheritance is a phase that all future successors of the clan head position have to go through. It is something even I went through alongside my Elder sister. Not becoming the clan head does not mean that you are to become useless. You can easily become an in important person in the future with your influence and power even exceeding the Clan head. So why bother is what is probably on your mind now right?"

In a passionate voice that seemed to touch at everyone's hearts the clan head spoke. He looked around the room, his eyes passing by every one of his children. The seemed to pierce right through them as if he knew what they were thinking.

Zeidan's voice was heard once more as he said: "Being the clan head is much more than power and influence. It is an honour; it is having your name written down in the history books, it is about being immortalised as even if you die your existence will be cherished and remembered. For what you have done, for what you have affected in your time and whether it was bad or good your name shall forever echo throughout the Realms."

His voice struck at the hearts of all his children as they listened to every single word of his attentively. Different emotions were visible In their eyes as they looked to their father.

"Every one of you here except Meldon will be given tasks and a time limit to complete these tasks. These tasks will be explained to you by Meldon privately. I encourage all of you as a father and the Clan Head of the Auguste Clan to put everything, whether it be blood, sweat and tears into the tasks given to you."

As the clan head said those last words, his state started to become blurry until he altogether disappeared. I looked at Meldon and nodded towards him indicating he meet me later to talk about the task given.

As I walked out of the Hall, I made sure to greet my sibling's goodbye. I immediately headed towards the Training grounds to see my army being trained by the Old Man. As I looked at the Old Man screaming at them about the importance of military discipline and seeing this, I could not help but smile.

Instantly I realised something. I was not going to lose to my siblings. I will become the Clan head. I honestly did not care about the power and influence that came from the Clan Head position. Many siblings of previous clan heads were stronger than the clan head, but many of these siblings names had only been recorded in the deepest and darkest library of the clan. Not many people knew about them, their names disappearing in the passage of time. On the other hand, all of the Clan heads whether they were powerful or not would be remembered eternally by the general populace and immortalised.

My demeanour instantly changed as a desire formed on the deepest trenches of my heart. One that I could not ignore, one that I would absolutely fulfil no matter the cost and brimming with a strong sense of determination on this day I had decided that I would become The Clan Head of the Auguste Clan. Erasmus may not have known it, but this decision would be the start of a legend.

For the next two hours, I had watched the army training. I could see they noticed me leading them to train even more vigorously. Among them, one boy - a red-haired one seemed to glint his eyes. This glint was merely a flicker as it popped up from time to time. However what interested me was the glint itself. It was one of determination.

As I kept watching the army train, I heard footsteps approaching me. It didn't take long for me to figure out who it was. After all, I knew every single important personage in the Auguste Clans footsteps. Turning around I looked at Meldon as a large smile blanketed my face and before I could speak Meldon had beat it to me as for being said:

"Erasmus I will be direct with you, it took me some time to decide what task I should give to you, however after long thought I have decided what it is," Meldon said as he took a long breath, He continued. " Erasmus Cephalos Auguste you are a well-known man who is known for his military exploits and his command in the army. You are essential to the Auguste Clan.

Therefore your task for the upcoming Ritual of Inheritance will be the complete opposite of what you are good at."

"Meldon you said that you would be direct yet you keep going in circles. Please tell me already," I said, a slight irritation evident in my tone as I spoke.

Getting the hint, Meldon said: "Right my bad, your task will be to manage a territory that the Clan will give you. It will start as a mere village, and in the timespan of five years, this village will need to fully develop into a powerful city. Also, we will allocate you some resources and you are allowed access to your own resources. The Golden Horde that you built on your own falls under this jurisdiction too so if you wish your army can also be taken with you. Master Erasmus, I wish you all the luck and hope you pass your ritual of inheritance." Meldon said as he rushed off.

I was quite shocked by what he had said. After all, I was better at planning military strategies rather than the building of a city. To be Honest, this task was going to be hard after all the most magnificent cities took decades to build. Building a Powerful City would not be easy. However, I fully accepted the challenge and vowed that no matter what happened I would create one hell of a city.

Rolling in with chapter 19. So kingdom building is on its way.

I am really sorry for the times I go. It's just that I sometimes lose motivation and give up on writing, but writing always brings me back. I'm also in my last year of secondary school so its a year I have to concentrate on my studies and its pressure but I will always write no matter what.

and rolling out.....
