The Toyohashi Dungeon Gate Raid. [1]

Toyohashi, a city located at southern Honshu located at the Pacific shore. I was going there for a very important reason, it was neither because of me wanting a vacation,

Nor could it be because I had to visit someone from there. It was because there was a gate there, a large gate, and usually, a gate's size does not correspond to its rank by mana count.

But this gate, "This gate was found to be measured to be an A-rank gate." What's the problem in that? You have already cleared so many A-rank gates in the past. Some may ask.

This gate wasn't just some normal A-rank gate though. A-rank gates normally scale from mana signatures of 8000~9000+ points. But in fact, this one did not follow those rules.

It was first measured at 9596 mana points, but it then spiked for a moment, and got above the measurements of A-rank, stepping into the realm of S-rank gates. And then going back down to 9783.

The mana signature it releases keeps alternating at specifically unknown but occurring at high frequency. There was a huge chance that this gate would eventually end up as S-rank.

This might be the first S-rank gate to exist in all five years of earth's transformation to the era of mana. And what more could be a better official debut than destroying a possible S-rank gate.

The sound of a helicopter's blades slashing at the air at "high" speeds softly buzz my ears. The gate entered my vision as prepared the cameras I had created for this specific moment.

I already saw the raid members I specifically chosen for this special occasion. And so, I jumped down from the helicopter, my clothes fluttered to the resistance of the wind.

I put on Kōri as a mask and slowly fell to the earth. As I was just about a few dozen meters off the ground, I spun around to disperse my acceleration and spoke "Feather-Fall."

I landed on the clearing as I felt all the force I had disperse into the ground, ignoring what ever law newton set, I received no opposite and equal force back. "Quite law-defying."

I landed on the ground as the current hunters who were preparing equipment stopped their work and faced me, saluting. "We greet the Grand Guild Master!" They exclaimed in unison.

I waved my hand, "You may continue with your preparations." I spoke as I headed towards the bridge, the gate was smack dab in the middle of the Toyokawa river after all.

My steps were silent, but the guild members who were swarming on the spot of the dungeon were observant and made way for me, saluting as they stood in line. And I soon arrived at the bridge, stopping at the familiar silhouettes.

Raising up my head, I was met with four familiar faces present. "You're finally here, Grand Guild Master C/E!" Reine spoke in a pseudo-excited voice. "Did you wait long?" I asked.

"Yes, we waited for about an hour longer than we planned, C/E-sama." Yūma replied as his twin sister scolded him. "Yūma! You shouldn't have just said, and if you would, make it nice!"

Yūma let out a grunt as I chuckled. "It's alright Yua, you don't need to backfire him." The twins were quite the bipolar, one is friendly while one actively tries not to be.

"Grand Guild Master…" Haruka muttered with a glad expression on his face. "Hahhh, you still haven't rid of your introverted ways, I see." I spoke as I looked towards the gate floating just above Toyokawa river.

"We just have to wait for a few minutes 'til that giant aberration of 36 meters in radius opens and," I turn back to look towards the 4. "We stand here to defend the city."

Haruka nodded his head quietly without any further questions, he might seem shy and introverted, but once you see him fight, it would simply be like the moon lighting the night sky.

"Now, let me prepare for the dungeon break." I spoke and turned around, hundreds of guild members were scurrying around the area, evacuating citizens, getting ready, and such other stuff.

I walked towards the main grouping and Reine followed behind me as Kazuya approached me, "Grand Guild Master, Guild Master. We have evacuated the citizens."

"The other A-rank and B-rank hunters are still preparing but are nearing satisfactory preparation. A total of 253 A-rank, and 568 B-rank hunters have attended to 'the call'."

Crack. The gate showed cracks as it caused a tense atmosphere to all hunters present. If it was a normal gate, they wouldn't be nervous at all, but it wasn't normal at all.

"We are willing to lay our lives to enter and conquer the dungeon, even if we may die for the country. But I must ask, why are we waiting for the gate to break?" Kazuya clenched his fist.

"Kazuya…" I was silent, but Kazuya continued. "We could just enter the gate, right? So why do we need for the dungeon gate to break.?" He asked. I… was speechless.

"Hahhh…" I sighed. "How do I explain this…? You see, we could have just waltzed into the gate if it was solid A-rank, but the gate keeps jumping ranks to S-rank, do you think it would be safe?"

"What if we do enter the gate and it turns into a red gate? Wouldn't it jump up in ranks and be a solid S-rank gate? And what would we do if the S-rank gate wasn't a red gate, but has a different environment than any gate?"

"Listen, it might be disgraceful to bring monsters unto our ground, but this is our territory, this is where we could fight the best." I spoke. "And this is where we could survive with the best chances."

Finally, Kazuya's fist unclenched as he smiled. "I understand, Grand Guild Master. I will make sure to relay this to the troops." He spoke. "Eh?" I was baffled by the sudden words.

Kazuya turned around to face the legion of hunters scattered at the site where the gate was, at the side of the river, at the bridge, and some even in boats. "Everyone! Listen!"

"Eeeeh?!" What was happening?! "Today, we stand here right now, to defend against a gate, which might as well be the first ever gate in the six years of the cataclysm's dawn!"

"Now, you might think that it is disgraceful to invite the vile beasts unto out lands, but the grand guild master has thought about us! She has thought about our wellbeing!" Kazuya shouted.

"She spoken to me these words: What if we do enter the gate and it turns into a red gate? Wouldn't it jump up in ranks and be a solid S-rank gate? And what would we do if the S-rank gate wasn't a red gate, but has a different environment than any gate?"

"Listen, it might be disgraceful to bring monsters unto our ground, but this is our territory, this is where we could fight the best." Kazuya spoke. "And this is where we could survive with the best chances."

Silence ensued after Kazuya's pause, and my words dwelled in the minds of the hunters that were present. "Unlike the other hunters, we were given care by our master!"

Kazuya what the f*ck is going on? "So we ought to return the favour, and fight with our all! The grand guild master wanted our safety, but she also wanted our all!"

The gate grew more cracks, but the hunters were now calm. Kazuya turned towards me with a knowing smile. "Ah, I get what you're trying to do now." I spoke in realization.

And soon, the cracks that were upon the dungeon gate grew in number. The sound of cracking made the hunter's tense, but with the speech that was given they were no longer afraid.

I look towards the other four "Muttsu Hoshi" hunters standing beside me. Reine the guild master, second to only me in the guild authority. Her skills are with the sword.

Yūma, a casual guy whose presence you would enjoy, he lightens up the mood every time after all. He uses the standard shield and sword, very bad at the tank role though.

Yua, Yūma's sister, a person who looks up to me with utmost respect, was what she said. She is talented in the way of casting bullshit spells, so I deemed her an in-name disciple.

And finally; Haruka. A guy who I have found to be introverted, a good friend of Kazuya, and is a good friend of mine too. Alike Reine, he uses the sword, and he's very skilled.

Kazuya raised his hand, the hand that was holding the banner of the guild, extending it towards me. I took the banner from his hands, and then raised it to the sky.

Beneath my mask, I smiled. I didn't get what was happening, but yeah! "For the dawn of the guild [Eos]!" I shouted with my all as my words reverberated towards my surroundings.

The hunters present were all from my guild, so they all shouted in reply. "For the dawn of the guild [Eos]!" It was an exhilarating scene, were everyone's mood was at an all-time high.

"No matter what may come out of the gates, even if a dragon crawls out of the gate," I spoke as Zenith slowly materialized in the air, "We will fight till we vanquish every foe!"

Zenith fully materialized and flapped his wings, soaring to the sky, creating huge wind pressure everyone felt. Yoru and Shiro materialized beside me as Zenith let out an epic roar. "For the dawn of the guild [Eos]!"
