Chapter Forty Two — ‘Hello, dear husband’

Brian's pov

It's been two days since I left home with Marlene and I haven't once thought of going back there.

The mere thought of running into Emerald made my insides churn with disgust and I was starting to prefer staying in my private villa to going back to live with her. I knew that I could try to avoid that as much as I wanted but no matter how hard I did that, I would still end up running into her one way or the other and I can't guarantee that I won't react negatively to her presence.

"Hey, you okay?" Marlene's calm voice asked as she showed up behind me with a worried look on her face.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay, Marley. How're you feeling now? Are you better? Do you need me to get the doctor?" I asked, looking carefully at her to be sure she didn't need anything.
