I carefully listened in on the conversation Brian was having over the phone and judging by how nervous he had gotten when the call came in, I had a feeling that Miss Marlene was on the other line.

I was only about to get into my conversation and the things that were bothering me before the call came in and distracted both of us. He immediately became uncomfortable when he saw the ID of the caller and that was what confirmed to me that it was indeed Marlene calling.

I was slightly nervous by the fact that she had called him so suddenly while he was with me and I was pretty much confident that if she asked him to come to see her right now, he would leave here without thinking twice about it. I knew that I had no right to be disappointed by something so obvious but still on still, I was really hoping that he wouldn't have to leave because I didn't want to be left alone.
