Chapter 2

Honestly, Annabeth didn't feel like herself. She felt more powerful, more confident. Like she could do anything with a flick of her wrist. Which was.....weird? Different? Good? Bad?

She didn't know. But at least her fighting skills were improving against Percy. She'd been good before, sure, but she always told herself training made her stronger, more likely to expect the unexpected, ever since she'd first came here. And she had promised herself she would be stronger. Even if she was training against the best swordsman since Luke. Percy tried to strike at her from above. She dodged, causing his sword to cut into the ground, and kicked Riptide away. Then, she twisted Percy's arm behind his back, and held her knife against his throat. "Not bad, Wise Girl. But I bet you didn't expect this!" He reached into his pocket, looking for his magic pen, and Annabeth smirked as his face fell. "I, uh, forgot it needs a few minutes to come back." Percy said, sheepishly. She thought she had won. But, the next thing she knew, Percy had grabbed her arm, and flipped her to the ground on her back. "Did you use my move against me?" Percy leaned down and pecked her on the forehead. "Maybe. But I had to make sure the enemy didn't slit my throat you know?" He helped her to her feet, and she nodded, smirking. "You are really asking for it, Seaweed Brain. Consider this a warning." Percy smiled, almost melting her heart. Almost. "Oh, I will, Annabeth. But I've got to clean my cabin for inspection. Meet you later?" She gave a small nod. "On the beach." And he ran off, toward his cabin, as Annabeth headed to her's.
