Chapter 67

“We’d better get you back inside.” 34

An hour later, Chris left the ER with Dylan. They stepped onto the elevator, then Dylan pushed the button for the seventh floor. Chris leaned against the back wall while Dylan stood on his left, with his arms folded and his gaze set on the doors. Even with Dylan watching over him, Chris wasn’t about to relax. “You say goodbye to James, then we need to go,” Dylan said.

“I don’t like this plan.”

“Doesn’t matter,” Dylan said. “Dad will be waiting for you at Ron’s apartment in thirty minutes. We have to get you safe, and he and Thomas can do that.”

Chris chuckled. “Where’s safe?”
