I had to put aside my thoughts as we reached the town, it was a simple affair no more than a hundred homes littered the small town. It was surreal as I saw people dressed in the slugterrian style. When I saw kids with slugs I admit I grew a little green, some even had tiny blasters, when I pointed this out to the old man he looked at me strangely.
"Why of course children have slugs if they want to have a chance of being a great slinger they need a good relationship with their slugs otherwise they will have to keep capturing slugs, because if a slug doesn't like the slinger they can easily get away after being slung." That made me really think about how I would have to go about getting my slugs in the future. The slugs on my team would need to have cohesive to even have a degree of strength. I needed to find some ways to bond with my slugs other than life or death. Luckily my current teammates got along splendidly at first they had seemed a little distant, but after Anan had share a snack while on the road the two seemed to have hit it off, just like any other pair of guys the way to loyalty is through the stomach, they a been holding a seemingly endless conversation that consisted of a lot of squeaking, chirping, and other slug sounds. I didn't want to pry we had really only known each other for at most a week for me and Anan, and Kilowatt just a few days but to be honest I would trust them over a lot of people. They just seemed to be a lot better than people, they were just so nice and trusting.
Continuing my initial scanning of the town it seem to be mostly the typical white building with blue windows, when we were halfway through the town a slinger dressed in the slugterrian style in grey and green with a ramsstone on his shoulder and a few more slugs in the shells stood in front of the cart.
"Who are you and why are you visiting Stonehaven?" He asked with a hand on his blaster. Slowing the cart to a stop the old man got off, so I fallowed his lead and jumped down.
"I'm Billy Slugton, and this here is a young man who helped me out when a bandit tried to steal my slugs." The slinger relax and turned to me "so you help him out huh? Where's the thief?" Gensturing back to the cart, "he's cuffed and tied up in the back of the cart, Billy had a set of cuffs and I used some cordage to tie him up." The slinger nodded and walked with us to the back of the cart as Billy opened it up. The goon of Dr. Black was wiggling like an eel in mud, the slinger smiled when he saw the logo, "Oh this will be fun!" He said rubbing his hands together. Billly and I looked at him in confusion, seeing this he chuckled and explained "Dr. Black is a infamous 'businessman' we have been trying to get rid of some of his influence on the 99 caverns and you just gave us an excellent case to investigate his holdings on the grounds of suspected criminal activity," at this point he held out his hand to us "thank you both, this might save a lot of people pain and grief." I grabbed his hand and nodded, quoting one of my favorite characters "may justice prevail for all," the slinger smiled and nodded "well Billy and…" I realized I still didn't have a name.
"Oh he-," I stop the old man with a gesture and said "you can call me Iriel," I said the man nodded and Billy looked amused, "well thank you both for giving us a lead however small it maybe. Nodding I shut the back of the cart, and both Billy and I walked to the front of the cart we set off for the larger than normal building that was most likely the towns inn or hotel.
