"Edna stilled at the sound of Charlotte's voice. Her hold on the phone tightened and her throat hurt from the hard lump that had formed. She wanted to say something but only a sigh left her lips.

"Edna, how are you?" Charlotte's voice came in again.

"Aunt Charlotte..." Edna repeated her name, her voice breaking. "Where... how are you? Are you okay? How's sis..."

"Edna calm down. We are doing very well, dear. Gosh, forgive your terrible aunt for not checking up on you."

"It's okay, aunt. I'm just happy to finally hear from you. And I'm glad that both you and sister Rory are doing well." Edna sniffed and wiped her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry sweetheart. I will come back home as soon as possible, okay?"

Edna nodded, as if Charlotte was standing in front of her. She couldn't talk now that she had heard from Charlotte. Relief washed over her soul, and she felt as though some big log was lifted off her head.
