Dad, who the hell is that woman?
I don't know.
What do you mean by "you don't know"? For once in my life, I had the chance to get Logan, and out of nowhere, she shows up. Dad, do something! she said looking at her father with rage.
There isn't much I can do. I don't know anything about her.
"Dad, how can you not know who that woman is? You promised me that you would help me get Logan back and now you're just sitting here clueless!" She slammed her fists on the table in frustration.
"I said I don't know, okay? There's nothing I can do if I don't have any information about her," her father replied, his voice rising in exasperation.
"Well, did you even try to find out? Did you ask anyone or look into her background?" she shot back, her eyebrows furrowed.
"I didn't have time to, okay? He just showed up with her out of nowhere and now you're blaming me for not knowing who she is," he yelled back, his tone getting angrier.
"You're my father, it's your job to take care of me and help me through this. I can't believe you would just let some random woman come into our lives like this," she retorted, her voice shaking with emotion.
"Listen to me, young lady. I don't appreciate your attitude and I won't tolerate being spoken to like this. I understand you're upset, but this woman might hold some answers for us. We need to approach this calmly and rationally, not with accusations and anger," her father said firmly, his face red with frustration.
"I'm sorry, Dad. I'm just scared and I don't know what to do. I love Logan so much," she said, tears welling up in her eyes.
"I know, sweetheart. We'll figure this out together. I promise," her father said, his tone softening as he reached across the table to hold her hand.
Did you notice anything about her? he questioned distractedly by his thoughts.
Something like what? she responded meekly.
She looks like your late aunt.
Looking back to the event, Dad is correct, she looks like Nalani's Mom but I'm sure she can't look this young. But the only one who took all her features when we were kids was Nalani. The eyes, lips, hair, and even the complexion, what if she didn't die?? No, it can't be. They all died, right?? I ask myself within.
Impossible Dad! It can't be. I disagreed with the fear of acknowledging such a possibility.
I hope so, he said shrugging his shoulders.
I know so.
Ok, but I'll look into it just to be sure.
Ok, Dad, I say dreading the thought of it being possible. I can't lose Logan to another woman after putting in so much effort. Not possible! If indeed it's Nalani then I'll send her back to where she belongs, "the land of the dead"!! I skimmed wickedly within. It's either me and Logan or no one else.
BACK AT THE HOSPITAL
Hello
Yeah, please make sure security is tight at the rest house.
Sure sir!
Drops the call. I just spoke to Scorpion, he'll handle the security. Leo informed Liam.
That's good to know, Liam responded. Glancing over to Xi and Siren. They still didn't know the full story, and they just met this guy, he has quite the looks but something about him portrays his nerdy nature. Who are you? Liam asks finally.
Turning to look at them, he clears his throat and stares at Siren's sleeping face. I'm Xifi, Siren's friend, we go way back. Was also a member of the organization. Their brows furrowed as their eyes held more interest.
The same organization Nalani works for?
Yes.
So what happened tonight? How was there a bomb in Logan's car? Inquired Leo.
Siren would have been able to do so but she was doing her part and that's how Logan ended up affected. So on the one hand we kept her family secure and on the other hand Logan was harmed.
Wow! Was all Liam could utter.
How good are you guys, for you to think you can pull off such a thing?
Not to brag but, we're the best, don't underestimate us.
If that's the case why did things go south?? Leo asks sarcastically.
We were caught off guard. Not to brag but, Siren can take all of you down in a heartbeat, she's not the best assassin for nothing. The only record we heard that surpasses her skills was that of a man who took his freedom without permission, he was feared by the higher-ups. There's nothing she can't do, but I'm afraid Love is the hardest thing she'll be able to get. He says giving Siren a pitiful look.
They knew the man he is referring to is no other, than Logan, who is currently unconscious but telling him wasn't their decision.
About her family?
I'm sure they are already getting ideas because Siren is a spitting image of her late Mum. Xi admits.
How do you fit into this? Liam asks.
I'm not good at combat but, I'm excellent with computers or anything software. You won't believe it if I tell you that I have access to the security system of Logan's rest house.
Liam and Leo's mouths flew open.
I can't believe what I'm hearing. Liam exclaims.
Just how on earth did you do that?
I'll admit it was a bit difficult, but I did it without breaking a lot of sweat. He's good but I'm the best.
Liam expresses his concern, "Do you think there's anything we can do?"
"I'm not sure," Xi replies, "I'm starting to worry about her too."
"But you saw her reaction earlier," Liam points out, "what if she loses her mind?"
Xi takes a deep breath, "I don't know, Liam. It's definitely possible. I just hope she can handle whatever comes next."
"That doesn't sound very reassuring," Liam says, looking at Xi with a worried expression.
"I know," Xi admits, "This situation is getting more and more serious. I just hope we can all get through it together."
DAVE'S ROOM AT THE FAMILY RESIDENCE
I couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling I had after the discussion with Grandpa. I needed to find out why Logan knew someone who looked exactly like my late Mum. So, I picked up my phone and dialled Logan's number.
"Hello," came the voice on the other end of the line.
"Logan...," I started to say before being interrupted.
"It's not Logan, Dave," the voice replied.
"Who's talking??" I asked impatiently.
"It's Liam, what do you want?" he replied, his voice dripping with anger.
"I need to know Logan's connection with the woman at the event tonight," I insisted.
"Not now, Dave!" Liam snapped.
"What the heck! Why are you upset?" I asked, taken aback by his anger.
"If you want to know, I'll send you the location, and from there our men will come and get you," he spat.
"Fine!!" I gritted my teeth, already regretting my decision.
I quickly dressed and headed to the location Liam had sent. When I arrived, I had to wait for about thirty minutes for Logan's men to show up. They did a body search on me before driving me to a private health centre. My heart was pounding with each passing minute, wondering what was happening.
Finally, we arrived, and I found out that Logan was unconscious. The sight was both a shock and a relief. Had Logan been here, I would have thought that he was behind all of this. But seeing him unconscious made me realise that something else was going on, and I had to find out what it was.
What's happening ?...
