Chapter 6

#Chapter 6

Nobody takes this hallway due to it smelling like dirty socks.

Ruby and I get halfway down the hallway before the late bell rings.

She tightens her hold on my arm as she peaks around the corner.

/"They're blocking the exit/" she whispers with an annoyed tone of voice

I nervously bite my bottom lip as I search for an exit.

I glance behind me into an empty classroom with an emergency exit.

/"Hey,/" I gently elbow Ruby

/"There's an exit in there/" I say

I point to the classroom that I am talking about.

She glances where I'm pointing to and quietly squeals.

/"Ugh! I love you, Hails!/" She excitedly whispers

I quickly pull us in the direction of the classroom, briefly searching it before entering.

We quickly run through the empty classroom with our arms entangled with each other.

As soon as we reach the door Ruby pushes it open and rushes out of it.

The two of us begin to uncontrollably laugh at nothing as we run to Ruby's Jeep.

/"Oh my god, I can't believe we're doing this!/" I laugh as we reach her car in no time

Ruby uses her key to unlock her car, us hopping in seconds later.

/"Believe it, babe/" Ruby smirks with a mischievous glint in her eyes

I place my backpack near my feet as her car roars to life.

/"Remember, we have to be back by three for Erin and Alisha/" I tell the red haired girl as she pulls out of the parking lot

Ruby chuckles at my reminder.

/"Sure, if we have enough room/" she jokes

I roll my eyes at this and turn on her radio.

Ruby isn't being serious.

There's no way that she would purposely buy enough stuff to keep our friends out of her car.

-

/"Oh, lets go in there!/" Ruby squeals and pulls me into a random five story store

I glance down at my phone screen and groan.

/"We need to hurry, it's almost three/" I tell her, struggling to hold my bags of clothes

The red haired girl rolls her eyes at me.

/"Relax, a little bit of vitamin c is good for them/" she states

Ruby gasps and pulls me towards the sunglasses.

/"Oh my god,/" she gasps and picks up a thick white pair

I smile as she dramatically slips the sunglasses on and poses.

/"How do I look?/" She rhetorically questions

I laugh at her.

/"Like you're spasming/" I reply

Ruby playfully pouts at my joke.

/"At least I look hot/" she stares at herself in the mirror

/"You should get them/" I encourage her

She turns to face me.

/"Really?/" She asks

I nod my head in response.

Ruby smirks and glances around before dropping the glasses in her bag.

The two of us continue to look around at the shoes a little before Ruby yawns.

/"I'm bored/" she voices and makes her way towards the opposite door

The door that we came in, which leads to the interior stores, has a metal detector. The door that we're heading towards does not have a metal detector and leads outside.

This mall has the worst security, but the best stores.

/"Where are we going?/" I ask her with curiosity

She stops in her spot and waits for me to catch up to her, hooking her arm with mine once I reach her.

/"Didn't you say that we have to be back at school by three?/" She questions

I roll my eyes at her.

Since when does she listen to me.

It takes us barely any time at all to exit the store and head towards Ruby's Jeep.

/"Can we get coffee before we pick them up?/" I ask her

/"Actually,/" she drawls out

Her tone causes me to raise an eyebrow at her.

This better be a good 'actually'.

/"I was think that after we drop the others off we could head to my house and get ready?/" she suggests

I furrow my eyebrows as we spot her car.

/"Why?/" I ask the red haired girl with genuine curiosity

She instantly displays an annoyed facial expression.

/"Do you want to help them clean up, set up, then clean up again?/" She asks me monotonously

Oh.

My facial expression resembles one of intrigue as we reach her car.

/"You're good/" I compliment her with an amused smirk

Ruby laughs off my compliment.

/"We're good, Hails,/" she smirks back

We place our bags in her trunk and Ruby retrieves her sunglasses from the bag.

I laugh as she slips the sunglasses over her eyes so that we're matching.

/"The night is just starting/" she happily sighs.

-

/"Where were you guys?/" Alisha asks

Ruby fixes her lip gloss as we stop at a red light.

/"Haley was having this horrible allergic reaction to something in the locker room,/" Ruby continues to put lip gloss on

/"If it wasn't for my maid who even knows if Hails would be alive/" Ruby effortlessly lies

Erin gasps at this.

/"Haley, are you okay?/" She asks me with a worried facial expression

I turn in my seat to face the worried girl.

/"Yeah, but my throat's a little sore/" I reply to her in a deep, raspy voice

Everyone is silent for the rest of the ride to Erin's house, Ruby only speaking once we pull up in front of her house.

/"I think that I should take Hails back to my house just to make sure she's okay/" Ruby says with a convincing tone of voice

I fake a strained cough to make this more believable.

Erin pouts at this.

/"The party starts at seven, but only come if you're up to it/" Erin gives me a worried smile before climbing out of the car, Alisha following her

As soon as the two of them begin to walk up the walk way Ruby speeds away from the curb.

/"Did you see her face?!/" Ruby bursts into laughter

/"Only come if you're up to it/" she mocks

I begin to laugh with her, mainly at her horrible impersonation.

/"Ugh, imagine her face when I walk in there completely okay/" I laugh

/"I know! She's is going to be so confused/" Ruby says

Ugh.

I cannot wait for this party.
