Kyel roamed through the entire castle for hours that night, catching many lovebirds in their secret trysts. He even saw two teachers making love, and watched for a while, but he nearly got caught, forcing him to retreat to his room.

He spent some time thinking about the bulge he'd experienced earlier. How did he get aroused when he thought he had lost all feelings and emotions? Kyel now had a hypothesis in mind that he planned to test later to confirm.

For now, he needed to sleep.

After a long time, he opened his eyes.

"I can't sleep. I knew it," he muttered. "Does this mean I can't get tired? The body won't help me, and I'll feel sick. Even if I can't feel sickness, I'll die gradually. They won't even know the cause of death."

"I need to pretend to sleep; it will help."

After two hours, it was a futile attempt. He didn't feel tired or sleepy, but he knew his body needed rest.

Dawn approached, an hour before the start of the day. He had a three-hour physical combat class followed by a theoretical mathematics class.

"What a useless schedule—combat class, then theory. I bet everyone falls asleep after," Kyel thought.

But Kyel had other plans for today. He got ready, dressed in his black uniform, and had some bread with cranberry butter for breakfast.

It wasn't surprising to him that there was no taste at all. He knew he would no longer enjoy his meals, having lost his sense of taste.

But on the bright side, he could still see and hear. He hadn't lost those senses, though, for some reason, Kyel thought of this as part of his punishment.

This life would be difficult, especially with his senses and feelings diminished, but he didn't care, likely because of this pervasive feeling of indifference and neutrality.

Today, Kyel planned to skip his two classes and go to the magic potions class instead. There, he hoped to find answers to some of his questions, and perhaps a solution to his problem.

He closed the door to his room.

Thud!

Kyel left, heading toward the magic potions class, knowing the way thanks to the previous owner's memories.

The magic potions classroom was dark and cold, lit by a few torches fixed on ancient stone walls.

Shelves stacked with glass vials filled with colorful liquids and strange materials lined the room, as if they were alive.

Old wooden tables were arranged in rows, each set with pots and copper utensils that mysteriously reflected the torchlight.

Strange scents wafted from the shelves and corners of the hall, mixing with the smell of dried herbs and mold.

Since Kyel hadn't slept all night, he was the first to arrive in this class.

The classroom's appearance was suspiciously old, despite the tower's magical advancements.

"Good to see someone's interested in the magic potions class," a female voice echoed through the hall.

Kyel turned to locate the source of the voice, finding a woman who looked to be in her thirties, though he knew she was older.

"I love the magic potions class," said Kyel.

She looked at him with the gaze of a predatory cat. "I want to see you here every day, then, to witness your love for this class."

"It can be difficult to come every day," Kyel replied.

"Well, why are we here so early? There's still half an hour before class starts."

Kyel approached her. She had deep blue eyes that held a mysterious, captivating look, adding an aura of magic to her presence. Her long, dark hair flowed softly over her shoulders, enhancing her charm.

Her skin was soft, and she had a slender, well-proportioned body with graceful features. Her shoulders were balanced, her arms thin but strong, and her waist slim, elegantly highlighting her figure.

Only two steps separated them as Kyel raised his hand in a formal greeting. "I'm Kyel Everhart, ninth grade, specializing in beast taming."

She extended her hand for him to kiss.

Kyel kissed it, maintaining long eye contact before she spoke. "Megan Hart, tenth-grade potions teacher, which means you can't attend this class until next year, Kyel."

Kyel faked a smile and replied, "Then I won't come. I only came to see if you could help me with something. I heard you're the best in the field of magic potions among all the professors."

With a soft laugh that revealed her white teeth, she seemed to mock him. "And why would I help you or even answer you? You're not in my class, and your specialty is far from potions—unless you have something to offer. Everything comes with a price."

Kyel offered, "I'll tell you what I need. Then you can tell me the price for the answer."

She scrutinized him, her gaze moving from his eyes to his face, his head, his nose, his lips, his neck, his ears. "You seem confident. But remember, there's a price for even listening. What if what you say is nonsense, wasting my precious time?"

Unfazed, Kyel began, "I heard that, years ago, they were training griffin beasts, but it was difficult, especially when treating them after injuries. From what I know, there was a powder that knocked them unconscious to avoid the chaos. It's said that the powder worked for seven hours."

"Mmm," she responded briefly.

Kyel continued, "I came here seeking that powder or the recipe for it."

She interrupted, saying, "It has no side effects, but the human body is not like a griffin's. For humans, unconsciousness lasts 20 hours straight."

"So, what's the price for the recipe? Or the ready-made powder? I'm not sure I could make it," said Kyel.

"Listen, the ingredients are cheap and easy to find, but the process is tricky and involves some skill."

"The problem is that it's forbidden here in the magic tower. I'm exempt as a teacher, but you aren't. How do I know you won't use it for something malicious? And why should I help you at all?"

"It could expose me to repercussions if it's discovered. I also have no need of anything you might offer, so I don't know why I'm even telling you this. Class is about to start; time to leave, Kyel."

Kyel gave her a final smile, saying, "Thank you for your time, Megan Hart."

He then pulled a small bottle from his black jacket pocket and offered it to her. It contained a black liquid.

"Everything has a price—even listening, right? I hope this is enough."

As he reached the hallway, she called out loudly, "Sorry, boy, but there are rules!"
