42. Walls

"How long this talismans will hold on Hoseki?" Sakumo asked behind him while following Shikaku on their route.

"Approximately 5 minutes. You can see but you can't feel it. How bad it feels, hehehhe.." Hoseki spoke the talisman's duration.

"Can't you make it longer? " Sakumo asked.

" No can't do uncle. I created this seal so that it will hold on only for 5 minutes. Even if I made it longer, it might not be effective any more."

" This talismans was created to distracted the sense of sensor not to hide from them. As the time goes on the sensor will catch up with distraction pattern and align them together and.... puff! Their distraction was dispersed. " Hoseki raised his hands in exaggerated. Suddenly his injuries bleed again. This time Hoseki didn't eat his healing pills to avoid being questioned. He just bear with the pain.

" I design this item to sneak around, not to hide from a sensor. " Hoseki explained in pain.

" Don't move too much. You are still injured. Seriously, why won't you wait for me and rushed by your self?"

"Anyways, 5 minutes is enough. We only need to enter this route without being known, so they cannot follow us. We will follow this route to distance ourselves from pursuit and meet up with my team. Then we will return to village. Lets go. " Shikaku spoke his plan.

Shikaku and others met up with Asuma, Kurenai and Raido at an assigned place. After having their dinner, they continued to move. Shikaku unwilling to stay longer on enemy territory as accident can happen anytime.

5 days later, Shikaku and other reached Konoha. Shikaku had his team dispersed as he reported at hokage office.

"So, in your opinion, you won't able to escape without the talismans? Hiruzen asked.

" Well, we might able to escape without the talismans, but at a higher cost. One or two life for example." Shikaku gave his opinion.

". . . " Hiruzen was in deep thinking.

That evening Kushina was summoned by Hiruzen. After she arrived, Hiruzen told her about Shikaku's reports and how helpful Hoseki's talismans was. Without beating around the bush, she was asked to mass produce the talismans. Kushina refused and told him the talismans were by hardly replicated.

" So, you are saying they can't be replicated?" Hiruzen asked Kushina.

" With due all respect hokage sama, First and foremost, Hoseki is my apprentice . Even if I know how to replicated them, I won't do it. It will be disrespectful for me as his mentor to do it without his consent."

"Second, the plan to mass produce the talismans also will hardly come true. I saw and study them myself. The talismans might look simple from outside but it was a maze inside."

"If I have to say it in simple words, they are too complicated."

" To produce the talismans, the maker must at least has a deep and high mastery in fuinjutsu. Even if you are a master you still need to decode the pattern of it chakra flows and their combination. The talismans themselves had unique chakra flows. He did showed me their chakra flows before this. But, as good as myself, I had destroyed more then ten talismans but still had no clue about his weird flows not to say their combination. After that I decided gave up as I am to ashame to asked him again."

"All in all, if the villages want to learn about the talismans, it will be up to Hoseki whether he wants to teach them. I doubt that he will." Kushina explained.

"So, he created his unique seal on his own?" Hiruzen shocked with Kushina revelation.

"I have told you before. That boy is a fuinjutsu genius. He was able to absorb knowledge like a sponge. Every new seal I throw to him doesn't take a week for him to digest. Even a high level one. For example, the case of explosion a few months ago. Do you know how long it takes him to understand the core pattern of the marble before he can create them? Three days. Even talented students of Uzushiogakure needs weeks or even months to understand the pattern only. As to try creating them.... Some people take years. But him? The whole process only took him a week to complete."

"The boy has the best talent I ever see or heard of. How he absorb the knowledge, how he process them and his own unique approach on the subjects. I'm not surprised when he showed me his own pattern of his seal."

"If you call for his teachers who were supervising his fuinjutsu study before, I bet they will tell you how headache to handle his way of thinking. The only bad side of him is recklessness. That was the reason I never teaching him any forbidden techniques. " Kushina elaborated.

Hiruzen sat silently on his chair. Then he asked. "Can't you persuade him?"

Kushina nodded "I can try, but I think you should did it yourself."

" Why? That boy seems he didn't like me much." Hiruzen

"Sigh.... Hokage sama. I will speak frankly then. Hoseki never hate you. He not even he wants to distrust you. In fact he always wants to trust you. But, for some reason he really dislike and keep his guard against Roots. He knows how much you trust them while he didn't. That's where your walls were built."

"So, if you wants to gain him, firstly, you must bring down the walls between you and him. Otherwise, I'm afraid handling him will always be a headache for you."

"If you asked me, while that boy quite greedy, he never throw away his duty and principles as village's shinobi. If not, why would he went for Hera san and his team while he can just waited for Shikaku or retreated when the plan was exposed. Instead, he risk his already injured body to go and help them." Kushina spoke her mind.

Hiruzen silently digested new information he got.

After a short silence, Hiruzen dismissed Kushina.

"Oh, one more thing, the village should considered about his hand cuff project before he had his own finance. If he did complete them without village help... Hmm.. forget it. You might already too late. " Kushina said and left the office.
