The new royal decree had everyone's tongue wagging as they all spoke about the most famous girl in the kingdom Chen Liju. None of them understood why the emperor would give her the power to pick the next emperor and as they all discussed her someone else also came up.

"I heard that long before the imperial concubine was married to the emperor she was in love with someone else." a smartly dressed woman stated before pausing dramatically and looking around at her curious company.

"Really, I never heard of that" another woman disputed with a frown. Her words seemed to greatly irk the first woman who decided to let loose even more information that would back her story.

"I did, my mother told me that she was the prettiest girl in the whole kingdom and was absolutely loved by the emperor but she suddenly eloped with another man." the woman went on to add.

"No way really?" Someone exclaimed making the girl nod smugly. She seemed to really know a lot about the royal family it was as if she had lived with them.

"She only disappeared for a year which was when the empress was crowned before showing up again. The emperor immediately married her and made her the imperial concubine." She explained enjoying the attention from all the other people.

"How sad she missed being empress by just an year." another person commented getting nods from everyone but a pretty girl sitting in the private room hidden from their view.

She was dressed in a purple dress that beautifully showed off her graceful lithe frame as she leaned against the wall in an attempt to listen in on the gossip.

Chen Liju had been unconscious for a couple of days and had only come to yesterday night having gained some more memories she had quickly put away her personal effects before leaving the First Prince mansion.

Good thing she did, before her cheap brother found out she was awake and kept her there just because of the emperor's new decree.

Now no one would find out where she was as she had gone to the place they would least expect her to hide at, the Lanwu Pavilion.

That was right the most mysterious place that everyone had to act carefully in belonged to her and so she had reasonably run there hoping to stay the night. Little did she know that she would have to keep hiding there when morning came after finding out she was the latest talk in town.

"Will we still be going out my lady?" the tall well built man sitting next to her asked prompting her to move away from the wall as she assumed a thoughtful expression.

The pill she had taken had helped recover even more memories of her childhood including all the sources of income that her father had smartly left for her which was a lot.

And so she had made a lot of plans today as she planned to go around checking on all her properties and to remind the managers that she was back but now she was not so sure about that.

After all she owned properties all across the city and she would have to move around a lot and she didn't want to get recognized by anyone who would expose her whereabouts.

"If we used a carriage would I be able to avoid getting recognized?" she asked Lu Tao and Ye Muxu who were present in the room.

After getting back some memories she had been able to wake Muxu from her coma but had been too drained hence falling into a faint. She had managed to get back her energy and wake up after a few hours of sleep.

That was when she had learned about her upcoming mission from Ren Wentian and decided to get her affairs in order before the Nagi arrived.

Seeing as she was still not familiar with this place she had decided to bring along Ye Muxu and Lu Tao as they had visited all the properties before and knew more about them than she did.

"A carriage may indeed help but you would still have to reveal your identity to the shop managers." Muxu analysed and answered concisely conveying the meaning behind her words clearly.

The shop managers would indeed pose a problem if they were to tattle tale after all they had to have huge connections to other people inorder to thrive this long without any assistance from her."So you think I shouldn't go?"

She asked already weighing the pros and cons in her head and the pros seemed to be feather light as she realized she had just wanted to go because of a little curiosity that was not enough for her to expose her whereabouts.

Ye Muxu seemed to think the same as she stared down at the table for a while before speaking up."It's just -"

She started confirming her assumptions and giving her a way out all in her sentence that she would never get to finish after she was interrupted. "I understand, why don't you two follow up on all of them instead."

She cut in giving away all her work and making up her mind to read up on the continent. Ever since Ren had told her about her delegate responsibilities she had been worried about her ignorance and this would be the perfect time to learn more about this new world.

She was already so far gone into her thoughts and plans failing to notice the faint signs of rejection on her companion's faces they shot each other a quick meaningful glance before hesitantly accepting their new orders. "Perfect you guys just have to check their account books, storage and invoices to check for any discrepancies."

She went on to instruct before happily walking off with no care of how they would get the task done. The two all powerful soul companions stared at her back speechlessly before turning to each other with a defeated sigh.

"Let's just get it over and done with" Ye Muxu assured Lu Tao who seemed just as shocked as she was. After all it was not everyday that you got to see powerful soul companions being sent on such errands.

She was probably the only person in the world who would think to send them on such an errand and because of her identity they could not say no but instead decided to do a phenomenal job that would please her.

That was how the torture of numerous business managers in the capital began they had been used to no supervision and now had lamented over why those two had been sent. If they found out how it began maybe they would have pleaded with their young miss to personally visit but there was no medicine for regret as they had to welcome these two asuras into their shops.

Soon everyone in the imperial city would be talking about the new player in town who owned almost half of all the property in the capital speculations were also being spread about who it was and why they had chosen to start making moves right after a highly controversial decree had been made.

Some even took it as a sign of impeding doom as they began to plan for whatever would happen but even with all their preparation nothing would prepare them for what was to come.

While all this was starting to happen our protagonist, Chen Liju was calmly laying down on a dark room marble in hand ready to shut her eyes to the world that she had severely impacted her insignificant actions.
