Act I finale: One ends, Another Begins

The moments calm. After the chaos, Empire City is left to pick up the pieces. Alden accepted that, even if he did try to find another way, casualties are bound to happen, and life paid their consequence.

Sara stood at the sidewalk, overlooking the chaos at the Government Headquarters that is ruined. After her battle alongside the Nate, they separated, the White Sword and the police were at the scene for cleanup.

"I suppose I should thank you." Alex said, walking up to Sara.

"You did it?" She asked

Alex paused for a moment before nodding.

"Boss and Yuka....they didn't make it." she sadly said.

"....I see." he simply said.

"The bounty's off, but the world may still hunt you down. And since you killed the Governor-General, that Wolf Prince will come after you."

"That's nothing new."

Sara looked down when she understood, she takes off her gas mask, revealing her freckled face.

"We did it, but the masses will lose their minds realizing their leader is a tyrant, think these people are gonna recover from this?" Sara says

"Humans only want one thing, Stability. They will desperately find the first smallest thing they see that tethers themselves together, and they'll tear at each other just to preserve it. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow covered all this up." Alex responded cynically.

"You think they can't handle their world?"

"Not one bit."

Sara sighs.

"So what are you gonna do now?" Alex asks.

"Well, I'm going back to the nomads. They're my family after all.....You should come, they're nice people, they'll welcome you as their own. Sara offered.

"Thank you, but I think I'm better off finding my own way."

"In that case, you should take this." Sara handed him a dark brown thick book with runes and a symbol of a crow at the cover. Alex took the book and opened it to skim the contents.

"It's called the Revenant's Grimoire. I found it on the desk which belonged to a man named Cypher, it seems like he's been studying you, maybe you'll make use of this." Sara says.

Cypher...something about that name doesn't seem right yet familiar to him, and the fact that he's had everything on Alex written in this book is suspicious. He shrugs it off and takes the book.

"Thanks." Alex expresses

Silence befell on the two before Sara breaks that silence.

"I'm sorry about your sister, what you had to do." Sara sympathizes.

Alex looks down then he mouthed off. "Are you certain that's what I did?."

Sara looked at him confused.

"You...didn't?"

"..."

"Well see ya around, and gimme a call sometime." Sara says before walking away.

"Sara... Thanks for everything." Alex says.

Sara stops in her steps and turned around to look at him, but he's already gone.

Sara looks around to find him but her pale-skinned friend is nowhere to be seen, she then smiles then continues to walk in her direction, going back to the nomads, her family.

(Alex POV)

I left Sara after expressing my gratitude, and now I have to move on. There's nothing left for me in Empire City.

I stumbled on a lone black motorcycle, a Black Kawasaki Ninja it looked like. I can't help but let out a smirk.

After a while, I drove off to the city and left a note.

'Thanks for the ride'

Time passes while I drive to the highway leading to the city's borders. Each time I pass through buildings, I remember each memory I spent with the Resistance. I'll cherish them.

Then I thought about the squabbles between Rena and I, Alden and Caine. What they had in common is that when one feels inferior, they'll do destructive things and trample on others just to be equals with the other.

Both Alden and I got what we wanted, but was it all worth it?

I found myself on the highway leaving the city. I drifted my motorcycle and stopped to back at the shining city.

Sara is seen taking transportation, she was viewing the picture of the whole Resistance.

She smiles at the memory and looks out the window for the whole trip to the Wild Lands, where the nomads are waiting for her.

(Edith's Apartment)

Edith was preparing dinner then smiles in satisfaction. She walks to call on her daughter and stumbles upon Lily looking out the window. She sees her smile filled with hope, knowing that her saviour will find his way and come back to her. It somewhat ignited a fire inside her, which made her smile.

"Lily, dinner's ready." she knocks gently.

Lily quickly turns.

"Coming Mom." she walks so the two would enjoy the meal.

(Alex POV)

We attained this tragic victory. Just as Alden gave his life for his rebellion, I shall live my days with my consequence, my curse, my memories, happiness and sadness alike.

I closed my eyes feel the breeze then exhaled and opened my eyes. I restarted the motorcycle and drove to the highway.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea where I'm going. All I know is that my story hasn't even reached its end, more like it just left the starting line.

My name is Alex Crowe, and there are more souls to reap.

On top of some building, a certain dark blue suit with a fedora watched Alex leave the city.

"I hope the little reaper makes use of the book I left him."

A dark purple portal emerge behind him and Cypher turned around to greet.

"Ah Welcome back, Klaus."

Klaus emerge from the portal and bowed.

"I am grateful you brought back as a powerful lich. I deeply apologize for indulging myself in battle with the Reaper."

"I suppose it was part of the plan, a test of his capacity, but I still need you for my grand return." Cypher shrugs then turns to view.

"Klaus, I need to do me a favor and go to the west to retrieve a certain artifact for me. You know which one I'm talking about."

"I understand, I won't fail you my master." Klaus complies before he disappears into the portal.

Cypher then smiles sinisterly.

"As for me, I'll enlist an old friend into the fray. For now little reaper, keep doing what you do best."

The last scene takes place in the ruined streets where Alex and Rena fought.

Cars are destroyed and the buildings are filled shattered glass and concrete.

But only one was missing.

Rena's body was nowhere to be found.

Only what remains is a blood trail leading to the nearby dark alleyway.
