Shadow Slave: Divergence of Hereos

In a multiverse teetering on the brink of chaos, unlikely heroes from lands far away emerge inside of a world filled with Nightmares. This isn't just the journey of a Young Shadow anymore. No, it is the story of multiple new figures and characters that will change the world. This is about the path of the young King, as he claims his rightful throne. This is a story about the resurrection of 'The Fool.' Yet it will not just stop with these 2, as many new other characters join into this world. How will the Dream Realm react, to the addition of these new monsters? ... I do not own the cover or any of the other characters inside of this fanfiction. All credits go to their original creators

Chapter 30: The Lawyer

Chapter 30: The Lawyer

Harvey sat back in his luxurious office, the dark leather chair creaking slightly as he reclined.

The skyline of the city stretched out before him, glittering in the night—mundane, ordinary.

It felt small now compared to the weight of the supernatural world he was now immersed in.

He had the formula for Sequence 9: *Lawyer*, and all the ingredients had been gathered by his network, with little questions asked.

Each ingredient had been neatly packed into separate containers, lined up in a precise order on his desk. Harvey could feel the weight of this moment.

He stood up and, without a second thought, prepared the small cauldron and burner he had installed earlier in his private office.

Harvey knew discretion was key, and no one could witness this—at least, not yet. As the ingredients were carefully mixed together, one by one, following The World's precise instructions, the air in his office seemed to grow denser, charged with a low hum of energy.

The mixture bubbled and shifted colours, a deep, otherworldly black that seemed to swallow the light around it.

When the final ingredient, the Dormant Soul Crystal, was added, the mixture hissed and released a thin tendril of smoke.

Harvey felt a strange pull, like the air itself was twisting around him, but he didn't hesitate.

The potion was ready.

He poured the dark liquid into a crystal glass, lifting it to his face. The scent was indescribable, both revolting and enticing.

He knew what was at stake. Once he drank this, there was no turning back. He would become a Beyonder.

With a single motion, he downed the potion.

It burned as it went down, like molten fire tearing through his veins. His vision blurred momentarily, the world spinning as his body rebelled against the foreign, eldritch substance.

His hands clenched into fists as he stumbled back, catching himself against the desk.

A surge of power rippled through him.

His mind expanded, and he could feel something inside him awaken. His thoughts were sharper, more focused.

Harvey also realised the 2 new abilities a Lawyer gained.

Sequence 9: Lawyer

1.Brainwash: Lawyers possess the power of persuasion, using their words, actions, and logical reasoning to subtly influence or manipulate others' thoughts and decisions. This ability makes people feel a sense of trust or closeness towards the Lawyer, allowing them to guide or distort the target's thinking.

2.Law Proficiency: Lawyers excel in exploiting loopholes within social rules and laws. They can turn legal and societal weaknesses to their advantage, using "Law & Order" as a tactical weapon to undermine or defeat their opponents.

Well…this didn't seem like much. After all, these were things he was already able to do, and didn't really seem too supernatural.

However, The World did explain to Harvey that at the lower sequences, he wouldn't see an insane increase in strength.

The only thing is…the 'digestion,' The World was talking about…Harvey was basically done digesting his potion through 'Acting.'

After all, he has been 'Acting' as a lawyer for a long time already.

It seems that…he would only need 1 proper case, and he would be able to consume the next Sequence potion.

"Sunny." I called out to Sunless as we finished dinner and he was going to bed.

"I never said you could call me that, you bastard!"

I ignored him as I continued, "I want to teach you something. Come here."

I had been contemplating for a long time if I should do this, but I have decided that it was about time.

Sunny growing stronger was a good thing for everyone, not only me.

And just in case I was unable to stop the Thieving Bird from stealing his fate in the future and I forgot who he was, I needed to be able to build as good a report with him as possible.

And, what I was about to teach him, he would be able to learn himself anyway.

The second Sunless unlocked Shadow Dance, he would definitely try and learn the Staff arts of the Monkey king anyway.

If I taught it to him myself, I could use it as a sort of way to build good will.

But the main point is…Sunless is a monster when it comes to learning combat. He has to be the most talented genius in the entire world when it comes to learning different styles of combat and mastering them.

It was to the point that he was even attempting to copy a Sovereign Battle style of Nephis in the later part of the novel.

He was the definition of Jack of all trades yet master of none, yet still better than a master of one.

Hearing my convincing words of persuasion, Sunless followed me to the training field where I usually sparred with Nephis.

I then broke Ruyi Jingu in half, expanded it and threw it towards Sunless.

He looked at me with a bit of apprehension, "What is it that you're going to teach me?"

I, however, ignored him completely, and motioned with my arm for his shadow to come and join me.

I could visibly sense the shadow look at me in complete and utter fear.

"Come on gloomy, I won't bite."

At my words, the expression on Sunless's face changed.

"How long have you known?" He questioned with a slight scowl on his face.

"Since the moment I met you. It just seemed like your shadow has a mind of its own…" I replied with a playful smile.

"Is it something to do with your Aspect?" Sunless questioned.

"Well…something like that." I agreed, since I wasn't completely lying.

"Now how about this." I told Sunless as I slammed Ruyi Jingu slightly to the grow and pointed it towards him.

"Try not to get hit."

Authors note:

Unfortunately this isn't a continuation of the fanfic. I simply had a couple of spare chapters I wanted to upload.

I am currently trying a new project, which is basically my own novel but I will be uploading it as a fanfic since honestly I write mainly for interaction with people.

I write to share ideas and run through scenarios with people, so I hope you will try my new project out.

It is called "Eternal Heir."

Do not subscribe to patreon for this fanfic anymore thanks.
