CHAPTER 97 BIRTH OF A MONSTER

"Leave people to their own thoughts, and sooner or later they start questioning the powers that be. If you're in a position of power, the last thing you want folks to ask is whether or not the way things are, is the way they have to be."

– Sunda Granitz

....

"Then unleash it in the form of a pure cold wave that can freeze chemical bonds within molecules! Freezing beyond absolute zero," Jin rotated the pen in his hand before asking, "It is simple, isn't it?"

"NO, it's not!! Just like the things you've been creating over the last few days and nights," Esdeath exclaimed, hitting the table and causing the papers to scatter. She felt a headache coming on from these insane theories that always involved mass destruction.

"That's why you have to believe in yourself even more," Jin didn't pay much attention to Esdeath as he gathered the papers and placed them back on the table using Ruler's hands.

Meanwhile, Gorr swung his axe against Igris's sword and Buster's daggers. Iron clashed against Gold, Zelos faced off against Aella and Kluh. It seemed that the strongest named monsters were fighting alongside Jin, while others were on an EXP spree.

The clashes between them weren't just for fun, as they exploited each other's weaknesses. For example, the clash between Iron and Gold showcased a battle between high-speed attacks and the highest defense. Iron couldn't deal much damage to Gold due to his defense, while Iron struggled to keep up with Gold's rapid movements. Zelos faced a similar situation, as Kluh kept him occupied in close combat with his monstrous strength, while Aella used her bow and spear to attack him from a distance.

The same could be said for Gorr, whose strength, speed, and skills were countered by the technique he lacked. Igris and Buster excelled in technique, making it a timeless battle between power and technique, strength and experience, brawn and brains.

As everyone looked at the science duo, they couldn't understand a single word coming from their mouths. However, Gorr, Iron, Zelos, and the others were focused on each other's battles.

"Then, if you're thinking like this..." Esdeath massaged her temples before pointing at the monster and asking, "Explain to me, how did you create him, and what even is he?"

Jin looked at where Esdeath was pointing before he said, "Love. That's a very powerful being."

"They call him the devil, the thunder beast that was able to defeat countless enemies, even challenging the creation god..." Jin pushed his lips together as a wide grin spread across his face as he introduced the monster. "Pikachu!"

A huge man with a massive build wearing a complete set of armor with a lightning bolt on its chest plate. This was Pikachu, formerly known as Budo.

Jin had created Pikachu after mastering the Shadow shaping code of the Teigu. It possessed the ability to summon thunder from the sky and was equipped with an indestructible shadow that could regenerate energy using dark energy, something even Jin couldn't do yet.

"No, I mean, how did you make it?" Esdeath looked at Pikachu and had to admit that it looked majestic. She felt a strange sense of familiarity with it, but she didn't understand how Jin had created it.

"I just want to be the very best, like no one ever was," Jin replied calmly, finishing his words. "To catch them and enslave them forever is my real test~"

"As for how I do it... Well, let's just say it comes with the territory of being a Death God," Jin truthfully answered.

"May I ask, what does it mean to be a God? Or what even is a God?" Esdeath asked, her curiosity evident.

Hearing her question, Jin began to ponder deeply. After a few minutes of profound contemplation, he nodded and said, "To be honest, Esdeath, even I don't fully understand that. I'm very new to this god business, and it's even harder to explain how I feel about it."

"I see, but you do know that this explanation tells me nothing," Esdeath sighed, not comprehending anything he had said.

Although Esdeath had surpassed the level of masters in ice, she knew she was still no match for Jin and his starburst power.

Esdeath considered his words for a moment before sighing again and picking up another paper.

"Well, anyway..." Jin stood up from the table and said, "I'm going to test the results of our studies... Do you want to join?"

Jin looked at Esdeath, and as they locked eyes, she replied at the same time, "You're not planning to destroy everything again, are you?"

"No, no, no... Come on, you know me," Jin waved his hand, but Esdeath looked at him with a gaze filled with disbelief. The same disbelief was mirrored in his Shadows, recalling the last time he had conducted an experiment that ended in destruction.

Jin stared at Esdeath and his Shadows with a deadpan face before saying, "Do you want to come or not?"

"Yes," Esdeath replied, walking toward Jin. Gorr, Igris, Pikachu, Iron, Kluh, Zelos, Aella, Buster, and Iron followed Jin's command, making their way toward the mansion.

"Don't blink," Jin spanned his fingers before both of them disappeared in a blue glow.

Far away from the mansion, the duo reappeared on rocky grounds as they surveyed the surroundings.

"When did you learn teleportation?" Esdeath asked, witnessing him manipulate space for the first time.

"Well, it's all thanks to a guy I met in the capital. He had a Teigu that could do this. I just reverse-engineered the concept and created a skill," he answered honestly.

"I see. Does it mean you could do anything if you understand it? And can you rejuvenate the dead?" Esdeath inquired with curiosity.

"Yes, at least theoretically, but even I'm not sure. And no, I can't revive the dead, not yet at least. I don't have a firm grasp on the concept of life and death to resurrect someone. But it's not that far away, maybe not yet, not today, but someday soon," Jin said with a wide smile, knowing that he would soon conquer death and ascend beyond the mortal realm. His next target would be the shining stars in the depths of beautiful space.

"So... let's have a moment of silence for this place," Esdeath clasped her hands together, bidding farewell to the location because it was about to be destroyed, said in a joking manner.

"..." Jin felt that the way this woman looked at him was very wrong, but he didn't care too much as he took a few Teigus from his inventory.

Esdeath stared at the Teigus, all of which came from various beasts, some of which were still alive in the Imperial Arm. She was certain that some of them were in the Empire's treasury and in possession of the empire's soldiers. While others were unfamiliar to her. She felt a sense of resentment as she remembered being unable to use them no matter how hard she tried.

As Jin placed the Teigus on the ground, a blue glow appeared, and the yin and yang symbol shimmered. The Nona, Gorr, Igris, Pikachu, Iron, Kluh, Zelos, Aella, Buster, and Iron materialized, along with a new soldier who had never been seen before. He resembled a regular knight soldier but without the armor, wearing ordinary empyreal clothes. He had an octa-core pitch-black box embedded in his chest, an X-shaped scar on his face, and a crown-like headgear similar to his father's.

Meanwhile, Gorr and Igris were dragging a creature that appeared to be a mix of various super-class and special-class danger beasts. It had enormous wings resembling those of a pterodactyl, human-like hands with sharp claws, scales harder than steel, bone structure similar to Death Tagool, and a massive size. It possessed a variable number of eyes with cross-shaped pupils, three tails originating from different beasts, horns protruding from its body, sharp teeth, and oval-shaped red gemstones embedded in its forehead. Additionally, four huge horns emerged from its head, along with four massive kraken tentacles extending from its back.

It was a monstrous chimera, a creation of Jin. What shocked everyone the most was that this monstrosity was still alive, with two hearts beating simultaneously. The sheer weight of the creature caused the ground beneath it to reshape, but Gorr, Igris, Zelos, and Kluh managed to pull it somehow.

"You've really gone all out with that thing, haven't you? But don't you think you went overboard?" Esdeath asked, unable to believe that Jin had created such a creature.

"Of course I did! There isn't a monster of high rank, and I wanted to conduct an experiment, so why not use everything I have?" Jin replied with a proud expression, as this result was the culmination of his hard work.

Indeed, every part of the chimera's body came from different beasts, either from this world or Jin's old world. Each part was carefully selected and planted to make the creature stronger. Even parts of Zelos and Gorr were incorporated into the beast.

Every organ in its body was strategically placed to provide various advantages.

"Yes, it's true that you've worked day and night to create this thing. We didn't even have any private time. But will it work? I mean, look at this thing. It can't even take a single step. It's a miracle that it's still breathing. I've lost count of how many times it was on the brink of death before you stepped in and healed it during the transplant operation... and now you're keeping it alive with life support," Esdeath expressed her concerns, sharing Jin's doubts. She knew he would be disappointed if this didn't work, and she would also be disappointed as it had consumed her previous time with her husband.

But if this experiment failed, they would have plenty of time together. Esdeath shook her head, trying to dismiss her thoughts if Jin failed.

"I don't know. Let's just hope it works. I've invested a lot of hours into this," Jin said as he ceased the continuous casting of healing spells, cutting off the life support for the beast. He then called out Pikachu and instructed him, "Use Thunder," knowing that it could take a while for the creature to die or potentially even evolve.

Pikachu raised his hand to the sky, summoning thunderclouds.

After observing the clouds, Jin turned to Esdeath and snapped his fingers, greatly amplifying the power of the thunder.

"Do you think it will be enough?" Esdeath raised an eyebrow, feeling that it wouldn't be sufficient to kill the creature.

"We could engage in a lengthy discussion about it, but in the end, there's no point in doing so," Jin's words left Esdeath feeling helpless. He raised his hand, and more thunderclouds gathered in the sky.

"Keep it like that," Esdeath nodded at Jin and Pikachu, feeling a sense of irony. Jin then called forth the new energy within his body.

Taking a deep breath, Jin's lungs and heart generated a substantial amount of mana and a hint of corruption energy before transferring it to the beast.

This situation continued until the sky was filled with dark clouds, crackling with thunder. Jin boosted the creature's energy by ten times before commanding Pikachu to release his electricity towards the sky. Thunder increased, and Jin directed the lightning to strike the beast's double hearts.

Esdeath watched in awe as the thunder and lightning struck the creature. Jin took a deep breath and rushed inside the protective aura surrounding him. A pink-black aura enveloped Jin as he picked up the beast and activated his new skill, "Arais."

Jin transferred an overwhelming amount of power to the beast, flooding its every cell with the energy of billions of people. The surge of energy revitalized even the dead cells, including the additional implanted organs forcefully integrated into its body. New neurons were formed, establishing connections that allowed the body to control its new body parts.

As the beast evolved, it attempted to utilize and adapt to its new body parts. However, this transformation only lasted a few seconds. The cells began dying as quickly as they rejuvenated due to the massive amount of the new energy clashing with the mana in its body. The beast's body started burning, turning to ash due to the thunder.

A gigantic ball of dark light materialized around Jin, gathering all the thunder around it. Pikachu continued to send thunder, and they noticed that the ball began to rise and absorb the electricity on its own.

Esdeath, feeling a sense of foreboding, asked, "Now what?" Jin smiled and replied, "Just wait a moment."

Gorr, Igris, Pikachu, and the teleporter looked up at the clouds, confused by the sudden increase in electromagnetic energy and the appearance of more clouds.

Jin smiled, feeling the process was complete. He walked forward, creating distance between himself and Esdeath, and declared, "Witness this moment..."

Raising his hand toward the sky, black thunder flashed through the clouds as Jin said, "I, Sung Jin-Woo, The Shadow Monarch, now release your constraints."

Esdeath stared at the dark clouds and looked at Jin, a realization flashing in her mind. Gorr sighed, covering his face, while Esdeath remained puzzled. Jin, however, continued with his words.

"Come forth..." Darkness descended from the sky, engulfing the beast's body without causing harm. The darkness began to be absorbed by the creature as Jin exclaimed, "Come, my Shadow... Monster of Destruction, The Father of All Monsters, Typhon!!!"

With a tremendous roar, shaking the entire area and reverberating throughout the empire, Typhon's monstrous cry sent chills down the spines of all who heard it. People turned their heads to locate the source of the monstrous roar, their blood running cold. As Typhon emerged from its shadow, its colossal size made Esdeath and Jin appear minuscule in comparison. Standing at a towering height of five hundred meters, with arms wide open, Typhon was so immense that it could embrace an entire mountain and a single misstep from the creature could topple buildings.

Even the passive energy emanating from the beast was so overwhelming that even Jin, and even his immortal shadows, felt the deadly threat it possessed. Instinctively, they knew that attacking it would likely lead to their own demise.

Gazing into its eight bright red eyes, the lion-like lightning mane on its face sent chills down the spines of those who beheld it. Esdeath, however, wore a wide grin with a glint of excitement in her eyes, relishing the thought of facing such a formidable opponent. Jin, on the other hand, remained eerily quiet, his wide eyes fixed on the system window.

"You have succeeded in Shadow Extraction.

You have succeeded in Shadow Strengthening!

The Shadow's level will start at 2."

With the birth of the beast, Typhon, it instantly became the highest-ranked creature in Jin's army. Its destructive power and versatility, possessing various skills from different monsters, made it a formidable adversary that even Jin's named monsters combined couldn't match. The imperial arms merged with its body, becoming an integral part of its flesh, enhancing its power and flexibility, much like the teleporter guy.

As the information about Typhon appeared in Jin's view, his eyes narrowed as he read the details floating above the shadow's head.

Typhon (Lv. 2)

Commander/General Grade.

Jin-Woo tightened his fists as he confirmed its grade. It was evident that Typhon possessed a power that far surpassed Jin's other soldiers, a power he had painstakingly created.

'Well, that's obvious, considering the number of beast body parts and Teigus I incorporated into its flesh. Its abilities now rival having more than ten elemental attacks: acid breath, fire breath, freeze breath, lightning breath, energy shot, and much more...'

The new grade alone indicated that this soldier was not an ordinary, common soldier. This was the result of Jin's tireless efforts to create this shadow.

As Typhon surveyed the shadow soldiers surrounding Jin and Esdeath, a booming sound echoed through the area. The shadow knelt down, meeting Jin-Woo's gaze, demonstrating the absolute loyalty that affected all the other shadow soldiers.
