Chapter 55: New Unique Skill

Newton's first law of motion, also known as the law of inertia, states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will continue moving at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force. In the context of suspending an object in place, this law implies that the object would remain stationary if the forces acting on it are balanced.

To suspend an object in place, I need to counteract the force of gravity acting on it. According to Newton's second law of motion, the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force applied to it and inversely proportional to its mass. Mathematically, it can be expressed as F = ma, where F represents the net force, m is the mass of the object, and a is the acceleration produced.

In the case of suspending an object, we need to ensure that the net force acting on it is zero. This means that the force pulling the object downward due to gravity must be balanced by an equal and opposite force.

But the question is if I can change the law around the castle to do it.

I decided to sit in a meditation pose and started working on it.

Minutes turned to hours.

Hours became days.

Days became weeks, and when I was nearing working on it for a whole month, I was about to give up, but I was thankful I didn't.

After a whole month, I managed to do it, and that's not the only thing that happened.

Something I didn't expect to happen from this happened. At first, I thought my Extra Skill: [Magic Manipulation], would evolve into my Extra Skill: [Law Manipulation], but that didn't happen.

Instead, I felt like I had completed the last part that was required of me before I heard the Voice of The World informing me of a new skill.

{All conditions have been fulfilled. Unique Skill: [Mystery]... has been successfully acquired.}

I searched deep into my soul where the skill was located to see what it does, and when I did, a wide grin appeared on my face.

To think that 40 years of studying and a month of trying to do something that could be considered useless for many would give me something so powerful.

Hell, I'm surprised this is only considered a Unique Skill and not an Ultimate one.

That makes me wonder how crazy overpowered I could get if the skill evolved into its Ultimate form.

Aside from giving me an immense affinity toward every kind of magic and increasing its power, that's nothing compared to what it can do.

It can store up to five skills I see and have analyzed. It's similar to how many skills can copy other skills but slightly different. Not only can I analyze skills without being detected. With enough time, I could even copy an Ultimate Skill, even if it's just a Unique Skill. It can also chain the effects of several skills together, possibly combining them into something new.

I should probably visit a couple of people and test it out. Or have people visit me instead.

A certain sleeping angel has the perfect Ultimate Skill I would need for this.

His Ultimate Skill: [Lord of Heaven: Astarte] has the ability to evolve skills in the direction that the user desires. Unique Skills can even evolve into Ultimate Skills if the user has enough energy.

If I manage to analyze it and acquire it, then with enough time, I could become.

"Dino, my good friend, I have a deal of a lifetime for you," I began as I observed Dino, who was eating a pastry. I asked him for a favor, and after a while, he agreed, "I want your help testing a new product."

"You know. My philosophy is to never work. I've never made a single coin with my own hands for hundreds of years, nor have I spent a single coin earned by myself, either." He replied.

"Oh, but I think you would enjoy this type of work," I then showed him my new product, "This is a magical pillow that will adjust to the perfect for its user. I want you to test it while I take some notes for improvements."

Dino stared wide-eyed at the pillow like it was the greatest thing in the world, and as he was about to take the pillow, I stored it in my storage, "First, you must agree to conduct the experiment."

"Fine, just this time, I will go against my philosophy and do some work." He answered with the most determination I have seen from here over the years I've known him.

"Now put this on and go to sleep," I said, giving him a bracelet that he thought would be his sleeping state.

Even if all of this is just for me to gain a new skill, I'm doing it for real, so he believes me.

"Okay, so I just sleep while you watch me, and I get an unlimited supply of pillows, right?" He asked.

"Yup, that is," I said while taking out a pen and a clipboard for my notes.

For it to work, I would need to analyze his skill for a long period of time. That's why I came up with this test, so he would stay here until it's done.

The other skills I want to acquire after this one should be much easier and won't need me to prepare something like this.

But this one is the most important for my plan to work, so when Dino fell asleep, I started to analyze his skill.

I ignored his Sloth skill and focused on Astarte.

My Thought Acceleration was activated, and I was there analyzing his skill. From an outside perspective, it would probably look really weird seeing a guy watching another guy sleeping, but it's for me getting stronger.

While in the real world, less than ten hours passed for me, it felt like years had passed, but a smirk formed on my face when I completed analyzing his skill and felt something new being stored in my new Unique Skill.

Leaving a note and a few pillows, I left Dino alone to sleep while I set off to gain the second skill I wanted.
