"Out of all the questions I expected you to ask me, it was the least that came to my mind... Now tell me, what piqued your interest in werewolves?" Kelvin said after keeping silent for a moment and then asked Devon without immediately answering his question.
Of all the questions Kelvin had expected, he never thought Devon would ask him about werewolves. This had never been a topic of their discussion.
"I came across an interesting documentary that said something about them," Devon lied. There was no way he would tell Kelvin that he was a real werewolf himself.
"I see...!" Kelvin muttered, with his hand on his chin, not fully satisfied with Devon's response.
"Okay... Since you say so, I will tell you what I know about werewolves to the best of my knowledge," Kelvin said.
"You see, werewolves are fictional creatures. They are merely the imagination of some author. In many werewolf books, they have different things to say about them, but I will tell you the most common knowledge about werewolves.
"They are a hybrid of human and wolf. At every full moon, werewolves are said to be at their strongest and also go crazy during this period of time.
"In most books, silver is said to be their main weakness, while I have seen some books that say otherwise. Some books say that the effect of silver depends on the werewolf's body, while some state that it is a general weakness," Kelvin said.
Devon remained silent after being educated by Kelvin. He had learned quite a bit. According to Kelvin, werewolves were a hybrid of a human and a wolf. They were always at their strongest during a full moon and tended to go crazy at that time.
Devon didn't know much about this. He believed that since the system didn't warn him ahead of time, it was something he shouldn't bother himself with.
Then there was their weakness. According to Kelvin, werewolf weakness was kind of complex. While some books and authors stated that werewolves were nauseous towards silver, he also stated that some disagreed with this and said that it depended on the type of werewolf.
Devon made a mental note of this. He hoped to test it out himself and see how he would fare against silver.
At this point, Kelvin's explanation had stirred up more questions in Devon's mind.
"Werewolves... Do you think they exist?" Devon asked. He was now interested in knowing more, and Kelvin was the only convenient means of acquiring more knowledge.
"Do you not remember what I said from the beginning? Werewolves are a myth, just like vampires. They are creatures we only see in fantasy novels or films," Kelvin said.
"But don't you think that those authors, they have to know something, right? It is practically impossible for them all to agree on one logic about werewolves. Some of them have to know something that we don't," Devon said...
Kelvin put his hand on his chin again and gave what Devon said some thought. "What you said does make quite a bit of sense, though. But just like I said, there is already a controversial battle among those who believe werewolves are weaker towards silver and those who don't believe in such," Kelvin said.
"Look, Devon... I appreciate that you are trying to become a fan of werewolves, but trust me, even if they are real, you wouldn't want to become one," Kelvin said, this time with a lower tone.
Meanwhile, Devon's interest was piqued more than ever. He wondered what it was about werewolves that he wouldn't like.
"They eat real flesh," Kelvin said in a lower tone.
Devon felt like facepalming. Meanwhile, Kelvin burst into laughter.
"But trust me, you wouldn't want to become a werewolf... If it were up to me, would I prefer being a vampire or a thinking zombie of some sort?" Kelvin said.
"Why would you say that?" In a way, Devon subconsciously felt hurt hearing this. He wondered whether being a werewolf was that bad.
"My reasons are clear," Kelvin said as he went on to explain why he would be inclined toward being a vampire rather than a werewolf.
"Vampires, just like werewolves, have their problems. They have a problem with light. Their eyes are too sensitive, so they can't stay in a bright room, and when under the sun, they tend to have an itching feeling all over their bodies.
"However, unlike werewolves, vampires, according to most books, have invested in a magical ring that helps them overcome these weaknesses. With this, I would prefer being a vampire than a werewolf," Kelvin said as he looked at the magazine in his hand.
Then an idea popped into his mind. "So now that you are a fan of werewolves, I heard that the beast from yesterday was a wolf breed?" Kelvin asked, looking around for Devon, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Where did he go, and how was he able to move so quickly and silently?" Kelvin wondered, but after some thought, he returned to his usual self.
Meanwhile, walking through the school compound was none other than Devon. He had learned quite a lot from Kelvin, at least enough to give him a general idea of what to do.
'Heck...! I forgot to ask him how someone can turn into a werewolf. Although it might seem suspicious, I am sure he wouldn't put much thought into it,' Devon thought.
'Now all I need is to test this out,' Devon thought. After hearing the back-and-forth explanation about silver being the only weakness werewolves have, Devon was inclined to test it out. The problem was that he had no silver. He couldn't waste his money on jewelry at this stage of his life, but he did know someone who would.
It didn't take long for Devon to spot the person. It was a flat-headed boy, his senior to be more precise, and a little bit taller than Devon.
This person's name was Malik, and on his neck were a couple of silver chains, and even on his fingers were a set of silver rings.
'I hope they are all real,' Devon thought as he went and stood in front of Malik.
Looking at Devon, Malik's eyes frowned as he looked at Devon. "Get out of my fucking face...!" he yelled, but before he could finish his sentence, Devon yanked his chains with great force, pulling him over...

'Now this is a little bit confusing?' Devon thought as he looked at the screen before him.
