Close Heart But Also Separated By A Wall

While still asleep, I kept hearing someone's voice resounding in my ears and it kept on coming closer and closer.

"Lyons stop being a lazy ass and wake up" and without even opening my eyes I already knew it was Teddy but I couldn't get why he still hasn't adapted to this habit of mine even after staying together for so many years.

" Wake up or else I will soak your precious bed with water" he added.

" Do as he says or he is really going to soak you and your precious bed" Mark said while laughing.

" I'm already up and I will be downstairs in a moment" I said with my eyes still closed.

Two minutes later, I went downstairs and went straight to the dining table and sat down.

"I thought because of your sleep, you wouldn't come down for breakfast" Mark remarked.

" At least my bed won't get soaked now" I retorted playfully.

" it's better to know what's good for you" Teddy added which made us burst into laughter.

Teddy was on the laptop while Mark was preparing breakfast and I, casually sitting at the table. suddenly Mark's phone started ringing and since I was the one close to the phone, he asked me to pass it to him while cleaning his hands.

As I looked at the number, I asked him "Who is my love" while slightly raising my eyebrow.

" Did I hear you right , Mark saved someone's number my love?" Teddy asked in surprise as he left behind what he was doing to also look at it.

" You don't need to know, just focus on yourself and give me my phone" Mark said but before he even finished with his words, I answered the call.

" Hello," I said.

"Hello baeb" the person on the other end answered.

" How are you, my love" I said.

"Am good and you. but wait, you are not Mark, where is he?" she asked.

" I'm Mark, it's just that I have a sore throat" I added.

" No you are not. because if it was Mark, I would have felt it already. By the way, perhaps you are one of his close friends." she asked.

All that while, Teddy held Mark and covered his mouth to prevent him from speaking and so I put the phone on speaker out. As she spoke, they stilled and listened to her and when she said she knew it wasn't Mark or else she would have felt it, Mark's eyes sparked with love and excitement which I obviously hadn't seen before.

" Yes, I am his best friend.My name is Lyons Rogers " I said.

" Am also his best friend and my name is Teddy. Teddy shouted from behind and this made her laugh.

" He never told us about you, are you really his girlfriend?" I asked while staring at Mark with teasing eyes.

"Give me back my phone Lyons !" Mark shouted as he walked towards me with Teddy teasing him while trailing behind him.

" I will get back at him because he didn't even tell his best friends that he was with me but I also understand him because, after all you are a top celebrity and so he wouldn't want to disturb you over such trifles." she added.

" I can smell the love in the air coupled with a tacit understanding" Teddy said with a smile before I gave the phone back to Mark. Mark walked out with the phone call. After a while, he came back.

"Come and tell us everything," Teddy said with a Stern voice.

" What do you mean?"Mark asked, pretending to not know about what we were talking about.

"Don't play the fool here. come on and tell us how you and your lovely girlfriend met" this time I was the one who spoke. After he sat at the table, he started off by saying they first met at a mall and then he continued with the story as we ate.

"Wow, such a bold move. she is truly amazing" said Teddy while raising his thumbs up.

" I think I have to write a song with this story for my next album as the title track. it's going to be a masterpiece." I concluded and we all laughed but who would have known amongst us that the song was going to be a hit but that's later on.

" Were you on the phone with your lovely boyfriend, Miss Rica" Vicky asked teasingly.

" Yes of course my dear" Rica replied with a smile.

" Wait guys, there's big news on the forum today. Someone captured a picture of Mia and Ben walking together and captioned it..... so are they lovers now? What about his alleged girlfriend , the campus Belle ?..." Lea said in an amused tone.

" So what's going on now?" I asked.

"Let me check the comments first.Are they insane, how can they accuse Mia of snatching someone's boyfriend.Did they see him proposing love to Lydia before. I don't even understand them ,this is totally absurd" Lea said angrily.

" I can't stand all this stupidity. They should treat their eyes and see how amazing our girl is. isn't it stupid to compare the two of them? luckily some of the supporters of OASIS came forth to defend her" Rica said obviously annoyed.

" I suppose they check their brains before talking nonsense" Vicky added but throughout our conversation we noticed Mia was silent and so we kept quiet. I broke the silence by asking Mia if she was good and she said she was okay as she gave me an assuring smile but we knew she didn't actually mean it so we decided to give her some space.

"Ben, quickly check the school forum" I sent him a text .

"Okay" he replied . A few minutes later he called my phone and I went to the balcony to answer it.

"Ben,for God's sake if you like her why don't you tell her. why must she endure all this pain" I asked the moment I answered the phone.

" Yes I do like her but I didn't know whether she felt the same way. That's why I didn't say anything so as not to destroy our friendship" he also said in helplessness.

" why don't you just try it out with her, she really likes you too. such a cool guy but a scardy cat" I said after I heard what he said not knowing whether to cry or laugh

"Okay then, see you later and I will also try it at the party tomorrow." he said before hanging up.

I couldn't wait for tomorrow to come but seeing Mia act strong even though she was broken inside made me sad. Their hearts seemed so close and connected but at the same time separated by a wall. I just hoped for the best the next day.
