The Goodbye Surprise

"Ah, if you don't mind me asking. Where is your family? How come I never see them?"

He was more quiet all of a sudden.

"Oh! Maybe I asked the wrong question." She asked in her mind when she noticed the hesitant look on Rain's face.

"You don't need to answer my question if you are uncomfortable." She hurriedly say before Rain could respond.

"They don't know what happened to me. I have never informed them of my whereabouts this past month." He half lied. Although he knows they are looking for him since he came back from Country Reghil, he honestly did not inform them of his whereabouts and of course they never knew he met an accident on his way back home from the airport.

"We will not pry into your own family matters further. Don't worry. We were just curious because you almost died and based from the look of your room, I think none of your family member came yet." She honestly said her observations to him.

He noticed her exceptional observational skills. He thought the woman was very intelligent. His curiousity was picked yet again.

"Rain, please contact your family immediately. Since we are practically strangers, we can not see you everyday. Please don't worry about the fees, this hospital is run by my good friend's family. I already discussed the fees with them." Alex indirectly reminded them both that he was still by their side.

"We will not disturb your rest any further. We will now go back home. And, we may not come back to visit you anymore," he added.

Rain and Alena was a little taken aback when they heard Alex mentioned that they might not come back to visit him anymore. Alex did not want to be involved any further in Rain's life. It is his matter, they were only here to visit a patient not to become friends.

Alena surely did not feel good about this. Since the guy was nice. But she too understood the words of his brother. That is why she never protested. She doesn't want their lives to be in danger too.

Rain, on the other hand felt more lonely. He admit that their presence made his mood slightly happy but Alex was right. They don't know each other so he too understood the situation. His life was always in danger. He knew this fact and never wanted them to be involved.

"I will be going out first to talk with the my friend regarding your stay with the hospital until you can be allowed to go home." Alex knew that they still need to talk for awhile so he suggested he go out first.

He bade farewell to Rain then later he exited the room leaving the two some time to talk with before departing.

"Rain, if we suddenly meet each other again, please do not hesitate to talk to me and I will also not hesitate to talk to you." She encouraged him.

"See you!" She bade goodbye. She then went to the door to exit but when her hand was holding the knob, he suddenly blurted something.

"Wait!"

Alena stopped in her track. "Yes?"

"Have we... Have we met before?"
