Past digging

I could not focus in class because my mind was occupied in words of Carol. After the class, I confronted Roul and Mreenal to get my answers.

"Hey Roul, can I have a word with you?"

"Of course buddy, what is it?" I approached their desk. Mreenal was putting her notebooks in her bag and Roul was waiting for her to finish her packing.

"What is with this Carol, man? She is totally into you. Why are you ignoring her?" His expression changed into a serious one.

"Don't listen to her. She always talks crap and I did the right thing by dumping her. She is an arrogant, rich and spoiled bitch who can't respect anyone and I don't want such people in my life." He replied bluntly.

"Well, I have seen that how bitchy she can be because she mentioned some colorful words about Gauri" I raised Gawri's name intentionally to get a reaction out of him.

"She did it again" He clenched his fingers into a fist.

"I think I should talk to her and see how many colorful words she can bear from me" he shot up from his desk angrily.

"Chill man, why are you wasting your time on such a bitch" I tried to calm him down.

"One more thing, Can I ask you something about Gawri?" I paused before putting my question.

He gazed at me like he was assessing my soul and then nodded in yes.

"Has Gawri been slapped and if yes then by whom?" I asked him and Mreenal turned towards us as soon as those words left my mouth.

"Alex, I think this is enough for today and don't try to dig things about Gawri" She advised in a cold tone which I haven't expected from her.

"Hey guys, I know past digging is bad but I just want to be her friend. I also care about her like you people. I know that you guys will beat the shit out of me if I took a wrong move towards her" their features softened and they exchanged a mysterious smile.

"I have slapped her" My eyes were about to pop out with that shocking information. I couldn't imagine that Mreenaal would be that person. I always found her protective towards her best friend.

"Don't look like that Alex. I am not very proud of whatever I did or said to her. I was also brat at that time and I am very ashamed of my actions. Just know one thing that I can do anything for her. She has suffered a lot for me." She explained and Roul comforted her when she got emotional.

"Now you see Alex, why we love her so much and why I have ended my relationship with Carol. Mreenal is not just my cousin, she is my family, my sister and Gawri is also not less than her. I would do everything to keep them safe and I can't tolerate any crap about them." He gave a side hug to Mreenal and she smiled at him.

"We have told you all these things because you have always helped her when she needed us most. Thank you Alex" Mreenal hugged me.

I was happy in my heart that Roul considers Gawri as his sister and not like a love interest.

"Do Indian girls hug?" I teased Mreenaal when she embraced me.

"Indian girls can kiss too." She replied playfully.

"I knew, you will finally fall for my charms" I hugged her back.

"Ahem, Ahem, you guys are dating" Roul cleared his throat beside us.

"No Rahul, he is not that much hot, I will give him 2 out of 10" she pulled back and giggled.

"Oh you broke my heart babe" I did a fake complain and we all laugh it loud. Roul also hugged and thanked me for helping Gawri. I was very happy that I got real and caring people as my friends.
