Then he dropped his hand to tug at the knot of his tie with two clawed fingers. He stepped alongside Jack and handed him the other beer. He kept his voice low and his tone calm. “We can go. If you want. I’m sorry.”

“For what?” Jack plucked the bottle out of Mason’s fist and caught Mason’s eyes.
